A lovely discovery for us on our latest trip to the area!
We stopped by on Sunday late morning, and we couldn't be happier. Fun decorations, friendly staff, and great food.
My daughter thought she'd take it easy and ordered the Single Griddle Combo - 1 each of pancake, egg (however you like it), sausage or bacon. The poached egg was perfectly cooked, the sausage was crispy but soft inside (and delicious!), and the pancake was delicious and HUGE. Filled her up and then some! And for a small fee, we had the real maple syrup - and it was some of the best we've ever had. Taste works with locals for much of their food products, and with the maple syrup they used Mac's Maple - it was great!
My wife chose the Southwestern Turkey Club, which was fantastic - two thumbs up from her! She also ordered cheese sauce for her fries...which was the absolute real hit. She was devouring that sauce on everything!
My son went with the Cranberry Chicken Club, which he said he loved - I have no idea how much he enjoyed it, as it wasn't around for very long! He put that away quick!
I decided to do something I normally avoid, and ordered the Jammin' Chicken Sandwich. Mine took a few extra minutes, because as the waitress explained in an embarrassed tone, she "dropped it". Hey, mistakes happen, and believe me, it was well worth the wait!! The chicken was juicy and flavorful, the cheese was fantastic, the bacon was crispy and oh-so-good, and the jam on it finished it beautifully. Crispy sourdough bread and tender chicken with fresh tomatoes, then there's the salty crunch of the bacon and the sweetness of the jam...just wow. I don't normally go for jam on a sandwich (peanut butter being an obvious exception), but I have to reconsider.
The entire family unanimously voted 5/5 stars for Taste - when we're back in the area, we'll...
Read moreWe love supporting local, new restaurants, and we hope they can take in the feedback and adjust so they stay around- but we didn't have a good experience. As another poster mentioned, the portion sizes are very small for what they charge. We bought 4 different main dishes, and bought sides separately, $92 for 4 meals. For reference, the side sizes are the small and medium size containers you would find in a deli. $6-7 for a medium size rice or lo mien is pretty steep and the lo mien was totally flavorless, just plain cooked lo mien noodles which were like doughy noodles without seasoning. That being said, we don't mind paying 2x more for half as much as you'd get other places if the quality is there, but this isn't that. The beef bulgoki was so salty as to be almost inedible. The quality of the beef was also a bit mealy and seemed low quality. We ate it because of how much we paid, but it wasn't pleasant. The pork bulgoki was also strangely textured and the sauce lacked flavor. The honey chicken was just ok, and the orange chicken was probably the best thing we had- but still not worth coming back for. The broccoli salad, cucumber salad, and bean sprout salad were all misses for us, lacking flavor or interest. We actually threw them all away. We're super disappointed at having spent so much for such a bad experience, but as a friend said over dinner, hopefully they'll work it out and become a great...
Read morePrevious review prior to closing to reopen as breakfast: Bought the orange chicken side and one Thai peanut wrap. ( They accidentally made two and gave me both which was very nice of them!) As many other people have mentioned on here and word of mouth the portion size for price is what I can’t get over with what I ordered and a bottled soda was $23. The wraps were the size of the palm of my hand and the orange chicken was not an authentic taste, I honestly can’t compare it to anything but my fiancé and I could not eat it. We were refunded which was very kind and the staff were very friendly. We will be coming back to try Just desserts but unfortunately not Taste.
Current review now that they have reopened as breakfast:
Food is much better this time around. Portions are bigger and there is FLAVOR. Biscuits and gravy was pretty good, biscuit was deceiving when I first saw it in the bowl but it was flaky and had great texture/flavor. Sausage tasted like the same sausage used on pizza’s but I didn’t mind it. The challah French toast didn’t look like it was from challah bread but it wasn’t bad just slightly soggy. ( Thank you for using Mac’s maple syrup!) Service was quick and kind. Breakfast for two with these meals including tip and only water for beverages...
