I inherited a ring from my grandmother that I needed to have resized. On April 1, I took the ring to Amidon Jewelers at the Powerhouse Mall to be resized. I confirmed with the Amidon associate that I preferred to keep the engraving on the inside of the ring, if possible, but that I understood if it had to be removed. On May 1st, Amidon told me the ring was ready, so I returned to pick up the ring. I discovered that the original engraving had been removed and in its place were new, incorrect engraved initials. I was really surprised because at no point in the April 1st discussion did we discuss re-engraving the ring. And beyond that, the new engraved initials were wrong. When I said to the Amidon associate that I never authorized re-engraving the ring, the associate helping me that day apologized and said that she could send it back to their jeweler to remove the new engraving, so I asked her to go ahead and do that. On May 22nd, Amidon notified me that I could pick up the ring. When I returned to pick it up, I told the Amidon associate that I was disappointed in the length of the process and the engraving mistake, especially since this was a ring of significant sentimental value. She stated that their jeweler is offsite and that they only send products monthly, hence the long wait time, and that she had spoken with the jeweler about the mistake. I understand that mistakes happen, but it was frustrating that I was only offered a curt apology and no sort of reparation like a partial reimbursement or store credit. I had heard great things about Amidon and trusted that they do good work, but I think it is also telling to see how mistakes are handled. A business that is concerned about its reputation in the community should try to make amends when they...
Read moreThis review is in regards to our experience with the Amidon that was located in Keene, NH, but has unfortunately closed since we purchased from them. Since we had such an amazing experience with them, we wanted to credit them Amidon company as a whole, their northern location being in West Lebanon, NH.
Our experience at Amidon was incredible. This was the first jeweler we (two brides) visited that did not try to sell us anything beyond our budget or convince us to buy only "real" stones. My wife purchased my engagement ring here and we both bought our wedding bands from Amidon. We opted for a moissanite stone for my engagement ring due to ethics and affordability, which are beautiful, durable, and no one asks if it is a real diamond.
Our wedding bands were something they had there already, but we made a couple of customized changes (partially engraved pattern on the side with stones across the top). They came out beautiful and have also held up very well to the wear and tear of our busy lives.
Our experience with Amidon was so positive, we have recommended them to everyone we know. My sister's fiance purchased her engagement ring shortly after we did, and same thing, incredible experience through and through starting with customer service, all the way through quality of the product. Any time we've gone in to shop, they've even offered us free ring cleanings while we browse.
Above and beyond experience with Amidon. Even though the Keene location has closed, we will absolutely take the trip to West Lebanon for future jewelry needs. Thank you for a...
Read moreI'm actually a little disappointed by my experience at Amidon today. The two women that were there were not the typical ones I see and they were definitely not as nice as I'm used to. I stop in frequently to get my engagement ring cleaned and the younger girl that works there is a true gem and always remembers me... I always leave feeling great.
Today I walked in and the one woman was on the phone with a gentleman trying to purchase an engagement ring or something along those lines, she was definitely frustrated by the call and I feel like that came out towards me at the end.
I brought my ring to be cleaned, but also brought a necklace my fiance bought me from there to be fixed. It's a simple pearl and the pearl had fallen off. I brought it in once before and it was easily glued and I was sent on my way. This time they told me it was going to cost me $30 to send it out... I questioned it and they said they would comp it this time, but not again. I mentioned the integrity of quality and the woman said to me callously, "It's a $49 necklace and it's Sterling silver so all they can do is glue it." I found that really condescending... Maybe $49 is a lot for me? And also, it was a gift and I didn't know the price of it, so I was frustrated that was let out of the bag, too.
Overall, not a great experience today. Although I do appreciate having my...
