My wife and I (interracial couple) arrived at approximately 5 pm Nov 26 "22 for early dinner. The place was pretty empty having about 3 tables occupied in dining area and one table in the pub area taken. The hostess automatically directed us to the pub area where there were high top tables for four or two and a seats at the bar and a high top booth that could seat 4 to 6. I turned to look at the dining area and saw plenty of seating available and was looking to see where I might like to seat but the hostess redirected me to the bar. I asked if we could sit in dinning area and she said no that the dining area was full at the time and insisted we seat in the bar section. I was baffled but decided to take her word and proceeded to the bar area and headed for the booth with comfortable seating. The hostess inquired why didn't I take on of the high top tables for two or four - I replied that I wanted comfortable seating. After my wife and I were seated I watched the same hostess seat party after party of various numbers in the dining area without directing anybody into the pub area. Did all those people have reservations and was the whole dining area booked for the dinner seating ? I inquired this of the girl who delivered our meals and she could not understand why we were refused seating in the dining area. She also said she would have a manager come talk to us. We finished our meals and the manager still did not come so we asked our waitress (whom was very goo by the way) and then we got a visit from the manager. He listened and implied various excuses but having worked in the restaurant business knew they did not hold water and am still wondering what was the underlying reason the hostess behaved such ....... I am older and my black African wife is quite younger. Did this hostess have issue with our difference in age or was it racially motived.......... ? We most likely won't rush to have any meals at The 99 Restaurant chain again...
Read moreI gave a 5 star rating for our first visit to this 99 location about 2 months ago because our waitress did a wonderful job. But today, I am writing a Review. Still keeping the 5 star rating but I have to say that our visit yesterday was exceptional. First, we do not live local to this location. We have only gone to this 99 location while our child has been at DHMC following a horrible accident. During our first visit, he was post surgery and we weren't very hungry but decided to try and eat. Our waitress that day was so friendly and made us smile despite what we were going through. We were served nourishing food and left feeling better than when we walked in. Our experience yesterday was just as wonderful. This time, our child was with us, albeit on crutches, but we wanted to be somewhere comfortable following his 3 appointments he'd had. We were welcomed in and seated quickly. Greeted warmly by an excellent waitress who took our order. Unfortunately, the menu item I had ordered was too oily for me to eat, although I tried. Our waitress took it back without hesitation and brought me something else. She checked on us between taking other orders and kept on top of refilling our drinks without us having to ask. She engaged in some conversation, and brought us everything we requeated. Before we left, the manager came by our table to make sure everything turned out ok with our meal. Honestly one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. On our way out, the waitress complimented my son. We will be back to dine in again at this location in the future and so appreciate the comfort provided to us while we have been far from.home and hungry, dealing with a stressful situation. Thank You 99 Restauraunt. Every location is not the same, as we have had a different experience at some other locations. We will DEFINATELY be back when back in West Lebanon! 5 star...
Read moreWe got the potato skins... not bad... some salt was needed... it was served with sour cream.. I think ranch would have complimented it better... my wife got the wedge salad.. she didn't have much to say about it.. but she didn't hate it... the dressing came in handy later.. my wife ordered the NY strip... medium rare with a dressed baked potato it was cooked beautifully... only problem we had was it wasn't seasoned with anything...at one point she was dipping the steak in the salad dressing. (don't get me wrong..I love the taste of beef.. but salt and pepper is the absolute minimum to put on a steak before grilling) my wife asked for some A1 sauce to help out... I just added some S&P. She alsogot the baked mac and cheese with bacon... also barely any flavor... I ordered the steak tips and chicken fingers combo... when I say that those steak tips were so tender and jucy as well as flavorful.. the chicken fingers were also as the NY Strip.. unseasoned.. I don't understand what Vermont has against seasonings... the French fries were good.. home cut (with the skin on) like I like them... we asked for BBQ sauce for the chicken and got a small bowl of what we believe was Hinez 57 sauce.. (didn't help at all) I'm not upset...just disappointed... I had such high hopes for the strip steak... I will not write this place off... (the steak tips...
