UPDATE: The Spa contacted me directly -were extremely apologetic and asked how they can make it better. My pictures did not upload so I will try again. Michelle Butler (front desk manager- screenshots available) sent me an email well after I spoke to the Spa manager saying she was out of the office, she only handles things by email unlike the spa, that I could have spoke to the front desk (wait time at the front desk is atrocious btw and I called the front desk only to be told no) and she needed the pictures so she could stop “researching” this matter. Like I’m making this up?!
I booked a 2 night stay at The Fox Tower for my boyfriend’s birthday.
My husband and I stayed at the Fox Tower for one night last week as we do at least once every year with friends. The rooms are decently spacious and the rest rooms are updated and very nice. We ended up with a corner room on the 19th floor, which was unique because we had windows in the bathroom. The room was clean and included bottled water, shampoo, etc. However, because of the weird corner space the TV was in the middle of the room and we found it awkward and in the way--had to navigate around it in the middle of the night to get to the bathroom.
We almost always stay at Fox Tower because we come in the summer and there is a huge outdoor pool as an amenity for guests of the Tower. It's also usually less expensive than the other two hotels at Foxwoods. However, its location is terribly inconvenient if you want to go to all of the restaurants and shops in the more popular area so it's a hike to get to those. We love the Scorpion Bar and always eat there when we visit. Also, the casino section in the Fox Tower is very empty and since we visit midweek it's incredibly hard to get seated at a blackjack table. We were there on a Tuesday night and there were only 2 tables that we had to stalk until an opening was available (there were 3 of us who wanted to play). We had played a bit on the other side of the property after dinner at Scorpion Bar and it was much easier on that side. We finished our evening on the Fox Tower casino side after trying to sit at a table together. I personally was done gambling at 10pm and would have loved a dessert or snack, but unfortunately there is NOTHING open at 10pm on a weeknight on this side of the property. I mean, not even a vending machine. I went up to the room aggravated. I didn't want to hike the 1/2 mile back to the other side where all the shops are.
The Tanger Outlets are like a ghost town and quite frankly it's depressing. I much prefer Mohegan Sun because of its layout and centrality of everything. There's a huge bar in the middle of the main concourse and the restaurants ring around that area. Mohegan is definitely more expensive, but at this point it's where we'll be going.
The major reason I'm writing this review is because of an incident that occurred while we stayed. Our friends, who had their own room on a different floor, accidentally left the wife's wedding band and wrap on the night stand next to the bed. As soon as we were on the ferry the wife realized exactly what she had done and phoned Fox Tower. There is NO way the room had been made up (we left way before check out time and were on the 10am ferry to Long Island). She first left a message because no one picked up. Then she got a hold of a manager who said he would have someone check. He never returned her call. She repetitively called and finally someone contacted her to say nothing was found in the room. COMPLETE LIE...she knew EXACTLY where she left the rings. This hotel stole her wedding bands!!! So for this reason I will never come back to this resort and I recommend that anyone booked here leave their valuables at home....
Read moreWhat can I say about this place lmaoo let’s start with this. I went on a Vday weekend trip & had a blast with my boyfriend & honestly that’s saying a lot considering the following; Foxwood Tower/Grand Pequot Hotel give nothing but simulation. It gives an episode of “Black Mirror” met with the movie “Let’s Be Cops” & had a baby. I understand it being a casino focused hotel and therefore security must be tight and I in fact greatly appreciate the lengths they go, to ensure a safe, fun and respectful environment for those who are actually there to have a good time and not the obvious, prejudice undercover security and “guests”. But they do so much and think they’re being “normal” and they’re not The Guy Fieri restaurant was phenomenal! The hostesses were incredibly welcoming and our waiter was super sweet. We also were blessed to meet another interracial couple who were delighted to pay for our meal! A wonderful added gift on Valentine’s Day which I could tell my bf very much appreciated after our earlier shopping montage (lol!) There was one racist bartender in the Foxtower hotel and I say that with such confidence & conviction after a few too many micro/passive aggressive incidents as PAYING customers, GUESTS & plain in simple PEOPLE. I audibly stated “keep your prejudices and biases to yourself OR do your job somewhere else” (again my partner & I are a interracial couple) he went and stayed at the other end of the bar and continued to happily great/serve the Caucasian patrons. The whole casino’s probability is off and not in the “duh what do you expect way” but in the “we’re literally robbing people” way but maybe I just don’t understand gambling The “Ice Imports”, “Yummy Store” & the “Croc” store employees could work on their customer service except for one tall gentleman in the Croc store he was very professional! It was extremely uncomfortable shopping there and actually most of the outlets which is a shame because to expect a relaxing & romantic getaway & to spend so much money just to be wrongly profiled & treated like an outsider and unsettling & infuriating. I will say despite all the macro, micro, passive aggressive & obvious ways of those paid to be there even by those of the same race which was even more surprising given the current political climate but hey what did Kendrick say “They Not Like Us” right? & that goes for all who don’t understand what’s really going on. A lot of them should take a trip to NYC so they can get a grip on life and then a training on how to not look so obvious and eager to catch someone doing NOTHING because they’re so bored with their jobs. And tbh I hope while they were watching me and my bf someone else was able to get away with something 🤷🏾♀️ All in all my bf & I made sure we both had an amazing time enjoying each others company, eating some great food & laughing at the stupidity that is Foxwood Tower/Grand Pequot Hotel Staff & which is why they even get 4 Stars & I’m thrilled for our next adventure...
