We took a family vacation to Lincoln City and stayed at the Sandcastle in April 2013 for a few days. We stayed in the full kitchenette room that has two queens, one in a room and one in the living room/kitchen area. I'll start with the positives because those are the best...
The best thing about this motel was the price, it was very affordable. The location was awesome too...right on the beach but off Hwy 101 a little ways so it was nice and quiet. The room was big and clean. It had a full size fridge and a four burner gas stove with a small oven. The dishes weren't top line but they did what we needed them to. The ocean front view was beautiful and the windows were really large. The floor felt clean and looked nice and the bathroom had been redone recently with decorative tiles on the shower walls and around the mirror. There was a DVD player in the room and a large table with four chairs for dining. The staff was helpful and friendly and there was a decent selection of hot tea, books and puzzles in the lobby area. The indoor pool and hot tub was very nice, never crowded and always clean with plenty of towels. Beach access was really easy, even with our four and two year old little ones, and the beach was really big and the sand was perfect for building sandcastles. It also had a little river running through it to the ocean that was really shallow, our kids had fun running across it.
On the more negative side, the pillows were flat and uncomfortable and the comforter was a cheap polyester that was really scratchy. The two recliners in the living room area were old (but so comfy!) and had a little smell which I attribute more to the climate than being dirty. I brought food to cook at the hotel and the one thing that wasn't provided that seemed necessary was a set of measuring cups/spoons. I asked the front desk for some and they searched all over but couldn't find any and were apologetic. It doesn't matter to me much but there is no dishwasher; Dawn is provided as well as a large drying rack. The windows in the back of the room (the ocean side) opened which is great but there weren't any screens which made us nervous with little kids. The television was an old tube set...it worked just fine and we don't mind but it wasn't a flat screen. The shower head and tub faucet needed to be replaced, the shower didn't come on full force and it was a stinging spray. The wireless internet was really weak (and our room was close to the office) though we determined that was probably a good thing so we would actually unplug and focus on the family. I wish the office had a selection of movies to borrow, we kept wanting to watch a movie but didn't want to go buy one.
For us, the benefits far outweigh the negatives. The hotel could use a little maintenance and small updates but this level of service, location and price is unbeatable. We plan on staying here again in the future and recommending the Sandcastle hotel to family members for this summer's...
Read moreThis is always been my favorite hotel at the coast. All rooms have Ocean View. One side has balconies. On the other side the rooms you is almost all windows pretty much just window. This is the first time I've stayed on the balcony side, they have a fireplace they're fairly small though and only have a stand up shower which I was not notified when I reserve which is the only complaint I have. Like I said this is my favorite place I've been renting rooms here for 20 years. Beside us out balconies most all of the rooms if not all of them I can't quite remember have double queen beds the you all is Windows from like your mid side up. Is a dining table and a mini kitchen with actual burners to cook and pots and pans and dishes as well. If you come near low tide on the beach in front of the hotel there's a section of rocks that are probably fit size in a little smaller and all within those you'll find whole shells and agate and many little shells like smaller than my pinky nail. That's not too far of a walk to the Inn at Spanish Head big rocks during low tide so you can see starfish and seeing enemies on the Rocks over there and often people paint and decorate rocks and put them on the big rocks for people to find and don't forget as always Lincoln city has the Finders Keepers you can find float out on the beach and if you find it you get to keep it and if you notify the Chamber of Commerce call them that's how you about the artist you can actually go and have a pick up the packet I think I have it mailed to you but Lincoln city's Fantastic in the sand castles a great place to stay if you want to come and...
Read moreThis is a late review with many pics I stayed here late September early October in 2022.
I was there for my daughters wedding being held locally..and I spread some ashes of my mom and dad in the ocean in front of hotel. So this hotel and location will have significant meaning to me forever and I wouldn't change a thing.
I booked my hotel through the front desk a few months in advance and got some conversation papers in the mail.
The location is just fantastic and the views are beautiful.
Check in was easy and quick and I requested a 3rd floor and it was nice. I enjoyed having a switch on fireplace I'm the room
The selection of channels was good and the rooms were clean. I walked a few miles up and down from the hotel a few times.
There is so much to see up and down that coast that you just have to stop at every pull off and see for yourself. Devils punch bowl ..depot bay " worlds smallest harbor"...I'm trying to get back there the summer of 2025 to see even more of the coast and stay longer.
The staff was friendly and parking was good..only 1 time did I have to park across the street.
It's easy to find and not much traffic flows in front of the hotel.
The beach was nice to walk on but through the year the tide and chance and iv seen videos where the water is up to the wall and comparing those videos to the amount of beach I could walk on really makes me enjoy the time I was there just a little bit more.
I enjoyed staying there and will always remember the hotel and spreading the ashes of my mom and dad..who could not be at my daughters wedding for the reason...
