This review is based on value hotels and not a comparison of posh hotels. Those people aren't reading this review anyway.
This is a good value hotel. Its location is very close to major highways.
The room is a good size. The beds appeared to be newer/softer.
The bathroom was a bit small, but adequate.
The shower has an non-standard way of diverting water to the shower but there is a sign with instructions.
The hotel was completely booked the weekend we were there (just before Memorial Day) and it was quiet even with what appeared to be two dozen of a bikers group there.
The staff were all pleasant and helpful.
While things were quiet I could hear a cough from another room so if things got busy it might get loud.
There are plenty of bar and eateries in Lock Haven that are a short drive. Sure you technically can walk to them but in reality if you tied a few on there is Uber in the area and each place we went to there was a "call this number if you need a ride" sign. The Broken Axe, Main Street Grille, and Original Pizza were all nice.
The breakfast was decent, but the egg offering was ehhh. They had a fruit bowl but limited.
The TV had a decent amount of channels and had ESPN and most news stations. Looks like may have had HBO too. I could not find a sleep timer on the TV easily but buried in menus was a power off.
The hotel appears to be dog friendly (or someone snuck a dog in).
The hotel doesn't have a bar/restaurant. I am not familiar with any Best Western that does, so that is not unexpected.
There is not a lot of parking on the sides of the hotel, so you end up in the back. The issue with this is if you are on the 4th floor like I was, you do more walking to get to the front to get to the elevator which is not super fast.
I rated this with one less star because of a combination of a few minor things, but overall this was a very good place: Breakfast eggs were different on two occasions but underwhelming The breakfast area could be larger. You get three or more families or groups there and you are full. Mini fridge door in our room didn't seal right which led to night time humming until you pushed the door closed...
Read moreThe room was small but well used. While I wasn't a fan of how the bathroom was broken up, it was a good use of space. The carpet was in good condition and very thing over all was clean, in good working order, and over all in good condition. I just had two legitimate complaints about the room, the first was the bathroom motion censor light. It was outside the bathroom. Nothing like relaxing in the tub and having the light turn off on you because I was the only person staying in the room. Complaint number two was just that the faucet did need replacement. But service was amazing, the gentleman who checked me in was very nice, very helpful, and when a mistake was made, was very quick to fix it and make amends, even when I was honestly perfectly okay with it and already had plans on how to work with it. I wish I'd remember his name, he was great. He was the guy I dealt with all weekend. He was wonderful. And had great long hair and facial hair. Also the lady stocking the breakfast area was nice too. So all in all, happy with my experience and over all stay, the only real complaints was the light for the bathroom and the faucet that was rusty in 211. Everything...
Read moreMy rating of four here is what I give to any chain hotel that lives up to its chain's standards. Five ratings mean even better.||Best Western Hotels seem to be the most consistent and reliable. Here was no exception.||Our room was comfy, just a bit on the small side. Bed afforded a good sleep. TV was larger screen than most.||The only flaw was at breakfast--the eggs and sausage and potato patties were cold. That might be because I was down to eat when they'd just served, more time on the steam plate might have helped--||My wife wants me to mention that the location provided nice local businesses of interest. Right across the street is a very good liquor and wine store. This being Pennsylvania with their silly laws, you can't buy beer there--but you can at the gas station just a few blocks up, where there's a good choice of craft brews. A couple blocks further and you find Original Pizza, run by native New Yorkers and selling NY style pizza by the pie or by the slice--and they do a fine job, their...
