Ate dinner here early Saturday (around 4). Not being from the area we chose this place since it has a large menu and we were with two teens who are somewhat picky. I was pleasantly surprised at how good some of the dishes were. I can see this place being busy on a Satuirday night for dinner, so plan accordingly.
We started with sweet potato fries for the table. The portion was not large, but the cook was just right. Crispy without being drenched in oil.
My wife and I shared a chicken Cesar salad and a chicken parmigiana. The salad was completely forgettable and not that great in my opinion. The chicken parm came with a side salad, also nothing special but a nice portion for side salad.
The chick parm was extremely good!! A great balance of crispy, chicken thickness, sauce and cheese. I would have rather ordered two of these than the Cesar. It was so good, I would consider getting off the highway (if traveling through the area) just to eat it again.
Now here is the worst (in a good way) part! This place bakes their own bread and its ridiculously delicious. In fact we had three baskets brought to our table, and I took it back to the hotel room after dinner. By around 8 I found myself picking at this bread and I could not stop eating it, that's how good it was.
Our friends ordered a plain pizza and I had a slice. The dough was simply great, the sauce was also very good. However, the thickness of the slice and the amount to cheese, made it a mediocre pizza for me. Again, taken separately the ingredients were good, but the slice was too thick and the amount of cheese too much relatively speaking.
If you like bread, this is the place to get it either plain for sauce oir olive oil dipping, in sandwich form or frankly just plain. This is also one of the best chicken parmigiana I have...
Read moreThe pizza was tasty the cheese was full of flavor but very little grease. The pizza dough was Airy and had flavor to it.
Original Italian Pizza or casually sometimes called "OIP" it's been around for longer than I attended Lock Haven State College back in the '80s. They have a full array of sandwiches Pizza products appetizers for anyone's appetite to be satisfied
But I must tell you the following. I reside in the Philadelphia area where Hoagies cheesesteaks and soft pretzels are Foundation products that make Philadelphia famous among many things. In Philadelphia the importance of a roll matters for the hoagie and the cheesesteak sandwich to be exceeding in quality.
While we have plenty of rights to brag about that portion of the sandwich I am here to Proclaim that Original Italian pizzas bread is a far exceeding quality bread that they make sandwiches with. I can honestly say that of all my years eating sandwich and Hoagies, the bread that Original Italian Pizza freshly makes the sandwich many times better than the best sandwich I've tasted anywhere in Philadelphia.
I would highly recommend that if you order from The Original Italian Pizza that you have them thank you a little for two that you can take home to have for the future as well as your sandwich that you will...
Read moreThe food was good but the service was horrendous. The waitress was beyond rude. The restaurant was only 1/2 full. When we arrived and went to go be seated, the waitress advised that it would be 30 minutes for our food. It was like she was discouraging us from staying. We said “no problem”, we were not in a rush. We sat in a booth and waited for 15 minutes without the waitress even stopping by the say hello. We tried to flag her down to order drinks and she intentionally looked away from us. We decided to go to the front register and order the food as take out and then sit in the bar area to eat. The manager/owner took our order and said she would still have to give the ticket to a waitress to ring it in. We ordered beer and the same waitress delivered our beer to the table, slammed it on the table without a greeting and walked away. I have never encountered such horrible service where I could not find it in me to leave a nominal tip. It was that BAD! I was not able to get the waitresses name but her initials are JD. She is a young blond with serious bad attitude. She needs to be counseled on how to provide acceptable...
