I have never had a salesperson try so hard not to sell me something.

I've visited sofa club for the last two evenings after reading the excellent reviews. Indeed, the furniture seems to be of good quality and the customization options are almost limitless. I came in today ready to buy and customize a couch. However, Tina(one of the owners)'s impatience with basic questions, constant berating to hurry up and buy the first one that felt good, and refusal to stand further than 5 feet away from me, hovering over me as I tested furniture even after I asked for some space, literally drove me away.

Tina refused to tell me comparative prices of the furniture. I understand that a lot depends on customization, but even when I pointed and said, "That couch! If I bought exactly that couch, how much would it cost?" she would find a way to avoid telling me the price as it compared with others in the room. I only ever found out what three options cost: $1200 for a modern looking sofa on the back left, $700 for a cheap one just as we walked in, and $975 for a sectional. This took almost an hour of conversation to establish over two days.

It took me 20 minutes to find out what the frame of a couch was made of. She finally told me it was pine, but only after repeatedly saying: "It doesn't matter, we provide a lifetime guarantee. You sit in it, you like it, you buy it. Don't worry about material." She also wouldn't (or couldn't) tell me details regarding the springs such whether they sinuous or hand tied - other metrics of quality that are important in determining if this is cheap or high quality furniture.

Worst of all, she flatly refused to tell me where the sofas were manufactured (US or otherwise), much less any details regarding the quality of their construction. I understand not wanting to give exact details, but knowing the country would have been nice, and understanding what justifies the variation in prices throughout the store would have been great.

Finally, be fully aware that this is a place that requires epic haggling skills. I'm quite confident that you can get at least 30% off of any quoted price and free delivery if you push them. They'll also give you a nice deal if you pay in cash. Honestly though, don't go. It isn't worth the hassle. You'll get pressured into buying something you hate.

TLDR: I wanted to love this place. I came prepared to buy. The owners drove me out. Frankly, they seem rather desperate...

I don’t even know where to start with this review. JUST GO TO SOFA CLUB. I did not have a lot of expectations going into the store, but I had looked at most major retailers like Pottery Barn and Crate & Barrel and everyone was going to deliver me a couch in July, at least three months waiting time. Those couches were also incredibly expensive. I knew what I was looking for, I wanted a modern couch with a slight mid century vibe, in a cream color. I also knew that I wanted a softer fabric. I went in with a few questions and Tina immediately lead me in the right direction. I thought I might want a cloud sofa that is super soft and you sink into it but I also wanted those modern lines, she quickly informed me that you really can’t have those two things at the same time. She told me that foam, would be just as comfortable at the right thickness but also remain looking clean and sophisticated. I took my time with the provided measuring tape, pad of paper and pencil and made my way around the variety of couches. I ended up loving the style of one on the floor that was in a velvet and had the perfect modern look, but I wanted a different fabric and something more comfortable. I identified another couch that was too big for my space but it was in the right fabric and had the right comfort level. I asked Tina if I could essentially combine the two couches. Take the look of the modern couch and make it with the comfort and the fabric of the other couch. We also noted the height difference and some differences in the back support and made adjustments. We literally made a custom couch on a piece of paper all because of Tina- she has so much knowledge of couch design and what would work. It’s amazing. I moved forward with the order. But I cannot lie I was very nervous having no idea if the couch would actually turn out like I wanted it, I hadn’t seen a mock up or anything just my ideas and Tinas ideas on a piece of paper. My couch was delivered today (LESS THAN TWO WEEKS AFTER I ORDERED IT!!!), it was time for the big reveal! I have no words- the couch is incredible. It is exactly what I wanted. I am beyond happy and hope that this review will help others find this place! I literally got a custom couch in less than two weeks and for half the price of what a Pottery Barn or Crate & Barrel would have charged me. Do not walk RUN to sofa club!!! Seriously the best....

WOW Sofa Club, JUST WOW. I found this place on yelp just like the rest of the reviews and all I can say is, thank God I found you!!!! I came in on a random Tuesday afternoon and was greeted by Lisa. I quickly learned that despite the shabby exterior of the store, they could pretty much make you ANYTHING you wanted. Please note that I had been looking for a couch for 3 months at this point, and everything I wanted I could not afford.

I showed Lisa a picture of a couch from restoration hardware that had the style and look that I wanted, and Lisa said she could make it with no problem "yeah right" I told myself in my head, but as the conversation went on, I could tell more and more that she knew what she was doing. I gave her the exact measurements for what I wanted, and she did the math to make sure everything would be proportionate, I also selected the perfect swatch for the color couch that had been impossible to find until now. I even got to select the fill I wanted! Not too firm, and not too soft.

Lisa drew everything up, made a couple of phone calls and assured me in the most genuine way that the couch would be beautiful and that it would be done by the end of the week. EVERY other place I visited was going to take 5 weeks and this lady was telling me it would be done in 3 days?!?! My mind was blown and I still did not believe her. Well 3 days later I am happy to report that I have received the couch, and it is everything I wanted and more.

It is simply beautiful and in the LA area, no one has a chance at beating their price or their speed.
