IL NIDO — Restaurant in Los Angeles

I'm very very disappointed in this restaurant. I was in the area for my husband's work and decided to get some pasta. I decided to come here due to the reviews as I love pasta and haven't ate since 8am. The place is small and very fancy with low amount of staff. It took about 7 min to get my order from walking in the door. A very nice gentleman gave me my order and waited for the waiter to pay me out. My bill came out to $77 for mozzarella sticks, fettuccine chicken Alfredo, spaghetti, and tiramisu. The biggest disappointment was the mozzarella sticks and fettuccine Alfredo. Attached are the photos. Yes I did get my order to go so I can eat with my husband for his lunch break. The mozzarella sticks came out completely smooshed and tasted awful. The breading was nothing like actual mozzarella sticks. Now the pasta was even more disappointing. The sauce was very watery (tasted like water) when it should be more creamy and the chicken was very tasteless like there was no seasoning on the chicken. That was what I was looking forward to. I didn't get to eat with how gross it came out. Do not come here unless you have no taste buds and want to spend ridiculous amount of money on less average food. Will not be coming...

We had a great date night at Il Nido! We love Italian food, especially authentic recipes that remind us of what it's like to eat in Italy. That's the experience we got at Il Nido. It was a not-too-busy Thursday evening and we were seated right away when we arrived.

Our server made a great wine recommendation based on the pasta we were ordering. I had a glass of the Barrero (might as well have Italian wine when eating Italian food!) And it blended well with the flavors of the pasta we got.

They serve slivers of garlic bread on a cutting board...thin slices of focaccia, perfectly sized to not fill up before your main comes (unless you eat them all which is hard not to do because they're delicious.)

My wife and I ordered Futticcine with Black Truffle and Cacio Pepe pastas...they knew we were going to share them and divided up the portions on to 2 plates for us (without even asking) so we didn't have to do the mid-meal plate switcheroo. Both pastas were delicious! They make the noodles in-house and you really can't beat perfectly cooked fresh pasta.

We left feeling really well taken care of by their staff, super happy with what we ate, and with a new authentic Italian spot on our radar for future...

After being turned away from a restaurant a few doors down, my friend and I happened to give Il Nido a try, and we ended up thankful for the original slight. Our dishes were, carefully crafted, culinary delights. My friend and I chose the specials; I had the ravioli in a cream sauce with truffle shavings and mushrooms, and my friend had Sole, with arugula in a light red sauce. Both choices were divine. Afterward we asked our knowledgeable server, Robert, which dessert he would recommend and he did not disappoint. I had a lemon tart and my friend had a pistachio, ricotta cake that was light and with just a hint of sweetness. I can’t wait to return and see what other...
