This is a cool hotel in a hip and fun part of the city. It has a very European vibe and with that vibe comes the things that make funky hotels in Europe (and anywhere) not exactly the most quiet places to stay. If you are under 30 and can sleep through anything- you won't be bothered at all. However, there is a bar downstairs, a coffee shop, a taco bar (really great food by the way) and a lot of street activity/outdoor dining going on. The wine bar closes at midnight but people were outside mingling and talking (loudly) until well past 2am. And then at 6:30am the staff of the coffee shop starts arriving and making noise. The windows are not soundproofed so you can hear every car that drives by. The rooftop area in back can be used for private parties- which happened while we were there as well. So we basically got no sleep. The amenities are nice- a fridge, pour over Chemex coffee maker, lots of space to spread out, large bathroom. The area has great food and shopping and is easy access to a few Los Angeles spots (Griffith Observatory for ex). I would suggest a room that isn't on the street and inquire about private events on the patio if you are in the rooms that face the parking lot. The staff are incredibly helpful and gracious and it was easy to get anything we needed. A fun place to stay if you are not a light sleeper or just enjoy the buzz...

Check in was fantastic. I got a text the day prior to our arrival confirming details and providing check in instructions. The metro stops just a few blocks away, so it's easy to walk to if you don't want to bring a car (which there is free parking for as well).
We booked the chapter 2 room, which I was worried might be kind of small and dark, but the room itself looked even better than the pictures and was very spacious and very light. The bed was very comfortable with a selection of pillows.
The in room amenities were great, with a pour over coffee maker and delicious coffee and tea, really nice Le Labo toiletries, plates, utensils, bowls, cups and wine glasses at the mini bar and even a bottle of Dr. Bronner's to wash up with. There was also a record player with records which was fun and this old timey game which was also unique and fun.
The location was great with being able to walk to the Covell Bar, tacos, sushi, Brazilian, coffee, pretty much any kind of food that you'd want. It was also a good workout to walk up the hill to the Griffith Observatory.
Also amazing, no added resort fee. It's definitely out of the way and non-conspicuous, but if that's what you're looking for, this is an...
Read moreMy husband and I had a great stay at Hotel Covell! We stayed in Chapter 1. The room was large, well appointed, and comfy. Everyone associated with the hotel and the bar was friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed getting a bottle of wine from the bar and lounging on the roof patio. As noted on the hotel website, it can be a bit noisy in and around the hotel. This is not a complaint, but we did hear music from the bar, other rooms, and lots of street noise. If this bothers you, call the hotel to figure out the best room for you.
Also, Los Feliz is a nice area and the hotel is located close to lots of yummy restaurants. There is literally a good coffee shop, taco place, and sushi spot all within 20 steps out the front door. The hotel is also a great location for easy access to Griffith Park. We walked over and hiked up to the Observatory. I highly recommend a stay at...
