I read the negative review of the patio hand roll/cut roll situation below. My boo used to love the katsuya hand roll at the Americana (I know, I know.) She said she felt like sushi and I picked this place because they clearly offer hand rolls. I called and ordered from a human being, clearly asked for hand rolls. Order was taken and nothing was said about their unwillingness to serve hand rolls to go. Got home with the order, they gave us cut rolls. I shrugged by my partner, who very much wanted a hand roll, was hangry and I got lit up. Called the restaurant back, they acknowledged the mistake but told me to get over it. I told them I was going to write this negative review and the woman working there on Friday, May 24th at 630 pm, who answered the phone said, "Well, that's your opinion."

Also, my opinion is that their sushi is very average and def not worth the attitude. You can check my other reviews, I NEVER give negative reviews. So good job guys, you got me yelled at.

A pox on your establishment! You guys def need to be more transparent about your issues with hand rolls when folks order them, and def don't take an order for hand rolls and then give out cut rolls without saying something about it! Sogo is a great date spot with its good ambience, higher end food, and location. The roll sets are a great deal, saving you over 20% per roll. On the other hand, their nonalcoholic drinks are way too overpriced, nearly double the price at the market for the exact same item. We ordered a the six roll set, a five roll set, and an extra toro roll. They didn’t explain any of the rolls as the brought it to the table so I was a bit disappointed and also was confused on which ones were which. The explanations would situate the customer while also providing an experience, a storyline as we go through roll. But each roll is tasty regardless, very robust with flavor. The crab is my favorite. At Kazunori, it is very dry but here they don’t have that issue, I think they put a bit of sauce. For the toro, they seem to use shiso leaf, but this provides a different flavor from the standard green onion. As for the Albacore Kari Kari, the sauce actually makes it all feel cheap like saucy fast food. Personally, I’m gonna stick with Kazunori. It feels...

I’ve been to Sogo once before with my husband and I enjoyed the hand rolls. Today I really wanted hand rolls but the inside was packed. There was seating outside so we took the patio option since we were hungry. The staff was very kind and very attentive. However the handrolls were really bad. The quality of the fish didn’t seem great and honestly lacked flavor. But the most upsetting part was that the nori was soggy and chewy. It was really disappointing and will most likely not go back after this experience. I saw other people outside struggling to eat the chewy handrolls as well. After reading similar reviews I saw that this is a frequent complaint about eating outside. But no one warned us this would happen and if given the option to wait for a spot inside; we would have. Also one of my husband’s roll came out with perfectly crispy nori… so it made me believe the quality was just off and not that it was outside? It was a meal that we didn’t enjoy...
