Finally I arrived in Hawaii! Mahalo! Oh I meant Los Feliz. lol.
Ululani HSI is a popular Hawaiian shave ice chain located in Los Feliz. It is established in 2024 and the first franchise on the US mainland. I know there are plethora of crushed ice in LA, but this one is the finest crushed, powder-light shaved ice ever created. There are over 40 syrup flavors to choose from, with our favorites being the housemade tropical fruit options like mango, passion fruit, calamansi, and lychee. Moreover, they offer toppings (e.g., mocha) to add on you dessert.
This store location is small and has outdoor seats only. Staff (Mathew) is affable, competent and professional. He is craft is like an art. I had a small cup of Calamansi and Mango with mocha toppings. It was bloody nice and perfect for a warm LA weather. Prices were economically fair. Service was top notch! I am not kidding.
Finding a spot to park was a breeze b/c of abundant free street parking. Collectively, this is a good dessert shop perfect for the entire family. Overall, I had a fantastic experience and enjoyed their flavored shave ice. I...
Read moreHEAVEN. Every time we visit my father-in-law in Maui my diet solely consists of fish tacos and Ululani's shave ice. I was ecstatic when I heard they were opening a location here in LA. I live on the westside, so even though Los Feliz is a bit of a trek, it's not a flight, so I'll manage. Made it in for the first time yesterday, on what was truly the first hot, and I mean walking with a parasol, reapplying sunscreen, hot day of 2023. The shave ice was perfect and exactly the same as it is in Maui. The ice machines were acting up, but the three ladies working handled it well. If they were stressed (and I'm sure they were, after we got there a line formed out the door) they didn't let it affect their behavior, nor did it affect the quality of the delicious ice. I am thrilled, and for once actually excited to drive across town if it means I get to treat myself to a root beer float with a snow cap. It didn't last long enough for me to take a picture (and I got the large size). Now maybe they want to open one in downtown...
Read moreWhen my wife and I went to Oahu a few months ago, I think we had an average of 1.5 shaved ices per day so it's safe to say that we appreciate a good Hawaiian shaved ice. I'm glad to say that we also appreciate Ululani's shaved ice, in particular, the No Ka Oi w/ a snowcap. The level of sweetness and creaminess was exactly what we were hoping for. Now that the summer heat has finally hit SoCal, I'll definitely be back so that I can pretend that I'm back in Hawaii for a few minutes. Service was simple and sweet, just like their shaved ice. Go in the store, place your order, and wait outside for them to call your name. Parking is a bit tough since it's street parking is pretty limited. Not sure where else you can park other than the street either. We circled the block a few times before we got lucky and...
