This was the worst hotel stay I have ever had in my life. We arrived on Thursday around 4pm and got to our room which was 74°. It was livable, but we thought the A/C may not have been working 100%. We notified management that evening. After an evening of tossing and turning being so warm, the next morning we notified management that indeed the A/C was out. We were told that while we were gone maintenance would be up to look at it. We arrived back around 130pm for our infant to take a nap and our room had spiked to now 76°. We again asked management where the maintenance person was and were told he stepped out but would be back. We left the hotel again around 4pm to get dinner with family and when we arrived back to the room it was 730pm and our room was 77°. Management still had not notified us that maintenance wouldn't be there and they never offered us a different room. We asked again and they said maintenance would be there in 10-15 minutes. After several calls and walks to the front desk, it was 9pm and we called corporate. They tried to get in contact with the hotel directly and put us on hold while they did. 15 minutes later the corporate person comes back on the line telling us the hotel put them on hold and never got back to their call. What a joke. My wife and I then decided since our son was still not asleep we needed to just leave and drive home that evening instead of staying one more night in an unlivable room. When I spoke with Jon the night manager he told me that we wouldn't be getting charged for the night we weren't staying (which of course we wouldn't we left instead) and he would get a receipt emailed to us at the end of day...approx 2am. He also told me when I asked when the general manager would be in that he would be there on Saturday. When I didn't get a receipt for the stay, I called on saturday morning and was informed that the general manager doesn't work on the weekends and they had no idea why Jon would say that....going as far to tell me that the general manager was out of town for the weekend. The only saving Grace was when I spoke to the assistant general manager she refunded my entire stay for the inconveniences, but she also said she would email me a receipt and I am still waiting on that 2 weeks later. Don't expect this hotel to keep you informed if you have issues during your stay or try to help you out in any sort of way on...
Read moreI had a poor experience at another hotel in the Cleveland area. I had a late flight and really wanted to settle in. However, the other hotel was so disappointing and filthy that I left a couple hours after checking i - and after trying four or five different rooms.
I sought a place to go to at 3am, decided to try switching to the Hyatt brand-- and found a Hyatt Place in a shopping/ living/ dining area. I called. The phone was answered by a friendly, alert voice who confirmed that rooms were available. I had not unpacked... so I informed the hotel that I was leaving and went to Hyatt Place.
Enough about the old place and terrible experience:
Regarding Hyatt Place: If/when I return to Cleveland, this is where I stay.
The front desk professional- because that was her demeanor- welcomed me, got me checked in.
The property is clean. The sheets and room were immaculate. No frayed carpet. Door locks worked. Housekeeping team was friendly and helpful. In fact all the staff seemed to enjoy their jobs
There was free covered parking. The adjacent restaurants and coffee house, etc, were extra convenient ( and there was breakfast and coffee at the hotel)
All for roughly the same rental rate as the other place, that is supposed to be "upscale".
And- it was clean (Did I already say that?) and welcoming and quiet and well maintained.
Isn't it surprising that those things seem like extras at a hotel???
I had a busy few days- and I appreciate and say , " THANK YOU " to the staff for the pride they take in making hotel guests feel comfortable enough to rest in a clean, comfortable...
Read moreIt's definitely not a place you'd want to stay for a week or linger.... heck, I wouldn't recommend more than a day or two at best! The staff is not friendly, nor do they greet/acknowledge you as you pass them by. They always look mad! I've not seen a smile yet by anyone on their staff. No one can truly tell you about the housekeeping policy! They will enter your room without notice, and without cleaning, there's a bump out thump you hear all night throughout the night. I also had to have maintenance fix a couple of issues in our room, like changing the bulb, stuck door...
After a couple of nights, someone's from housekeeping came into our room to empty the trash and replenish the soap/shampoo etc however, they never touched the bed or cleaned the room. Mind you, one the website, it clearly states that housekeeping is available upon request!
Please, don't be fooled by the "full breakfast." The food was okay, the juices had to be diluted as they were too syrupy, the coffee is extremely weak that it tastes like water. I'll give them this; they do try to make it feel as if you're at home at breakfast with providing you with actual plates, bowls, and silverware. However, in this day and age, I'll take the disposable dining ware; thank you!
If you are a smoker, it is not allowed anywhere on the property to include outside. Signage is posted everywhere outside as a reminder that it is not allowed.
It is conveniently located next to the mall. However, that's not an...
