They charged a pet fee for my service companion. According to California law, they are not allowed to do this. I stated multiple times before and during arrival that I was bringing my service companion, but once we checked in they acted like they didn’t know this beforehand and proceeded to charge us extra for our stay. I wasn’t in the mood to fight it, but hopefully this review makes up for the $40 I was charged.
Otherwise, It is a charming stay. Just wash your dishes and leave before 10am on the day of your check out or else they will charge you extra. If you want charming and hospitality however, check out the Gull Lake Motel or Lake Front Cabins. They are of a similar price range and much nicer.
Update: I’m just reading the owner’s response to my review for the first time. Contrary to the owner’s claim, I had called prior to our arrival and stated that I would be accompanied with my service companion. I may have been harsh in submitting a 1-star review, looking back on the matter, a 2-star review would be more fitting... At the time. June Lake Motel is still a good place to lay your head on the cheap if you enjoy skiing and cooking your own meals. But as you can read between the lines below, I would not describe the staff and owner as neither warm nor welcoming. It’s sort of humorous and outlandish the owner came on here to call a man ‘cheap’ and claim I’m such a sore loser that I’d write a bad review over a $20 “pet fee.” Chump change I agree, and thank you for not charging me hundreds of dollars. Still however, it is unacceptable. I have dished out fees for my service companion before, and this was the straw that broke the camel’s back. It’s absolutely unacceptable and bad business, accompanied with the audacity of this owner being a childish internet bully. Here’s an experiment you can do at home: leave a 2 or 3 star review on this mate’s business with some benign reason, and see how he responds to you. It’ll give you an idea of who’s running...
Read moreDale is one of the rudest owners I have ever encountered. I have stayed here multiple times before and went to book another room again for 30-SEP-11 thru 03-OCT-11. The customer service over the phone was horrible and he has absolutely no people skills. Dale was extremely rude and wanted to argue over room pricing. Honestly folks if you have good returning customers I suggest you treat them with the up-most respect and courtesy. If your willing to lose a continuous good returning customer and the $400 charge/cost of the room over a $45 additional charge, then I guess business must be through the ROOF! And we all know business in June Lake is way down from previous years. Was just up there 6 weeks ago with my father fishing talking to all the locals at the Tiger. I will never return or stay here ever again as much as I don't want to say that. They have lost my business. Time to hang it up Dale. Updated 8/14/12 Stayed at the Haven the past 5 days with my father and my brother. Incredible owner, friendly and accomidating, I highly recommend. Also to add to my "Business must be through the roof comment" now that June Lake Mountain has been shut down that's just another reason business wont be through the roof in the future. Now you have lost a customer a customer that will be much needed in the future since your winter clientele will now be no more. Be careful how you treat your customers, that is what keeps your business running. Especially good respectfull returning customers. Make sure you go to...
Read moreThe management here is unbelievably unprofessional. Specifically speaking one of the male owners (I didn’t get a name.) A friend and I stayed here for 4th of July weekend. On the 2nd morning we were woken up with loud stomping on the floor above us. It sounded like a child was running around and jumping up and down at 7am. The check-in desk isn’t open until 9am so we left a message for maintenance since we didn’t really have another option to notify someone of the noise disturbance. The noise continued for two hours and we went to the office once it opened at 9am to submit another complaint because the guests above us hadn’t stopped jumping around on the floor. The owner we talked to told us “Have your tried telling them to stop? You should go handle it yourself. It’s like an apartment complex where you would go ask your neighbor to stop making noise. You were children once and I’m sure you were loud too.” ... I’m sorry but what kind of absolute garbage answer is that from someone who owns the place? He basically told us to go handle it ourselves and create conflict between two guests while also treating us like children. We did our part of being responsible tenants and were mindful of others. Learn how to do your part as a manager/owner. We won’t be coming back here ever again. (If the business reads this review, the owner in question was a male working the office in the AM...
