I booked a club room for two nights. The complimentary breakfast and evening hors d'oeuvres were below par. There was no food left even when I went there within their designated hours. The manager, A.J. at the front desk was very rude to me. When I checked in, he promised to refund me the difference between the room charge after corporate discount (for which I had the corporate code) and the actual amount charged to me. At the time of checkout, the staff said it cannot be refunded to me, since it was "prepaid". When I asked for A.J., the staff member went inside to call him, but he didn't come out to address the issue. 2. During my stay, I ordered room service for food - the Chicken soup had an extremely high amount of salt in it - I couldn't even swallow the half teaspoon of soup that I tasted. The chicken wings were dry to burnt, I had to find the un-burnt parts to eat. The mushroom in the burger was stale. The creme brulee was missing the regular crusty top. I let the guest services know about this, but they failed to offer me any solution. 3. There was no toothpaste in my room. I was asked to come down to get it. 4. I hit my leg accidentally at your hotel and got a bump on my leg. I asked Kelly at the front desk if the hotel had a first aid kit having a pain ointment/spray, she showed me the way to your store. When I couldn't find anything there, she went inside and fetched band-aid and bacitracin saying -- "That's all we have". I requested her if she could get someone from the hotel to get me any pain relieving spray / ointment from a nearby store, and that I am ready to pay for all the costs incurred - I was in excruciating pain. She said I have to go by myself. She was kind enough though, to make a call to get a cab for me. 5. The pillows were losing their shape all the time. The stuff inside them was getting collected at one end, leaving no stuff at the other. I couldn't get proper sleep. 6. I had requested a room near elevator but I was given a room at the farthest end from elevator. 7. The AC was too noisy. 8. Next day, the temperature went down and the heater was not working. 9. I heard a couple yelling most of the night. I didn't expect this kind of hospitality at a Sheraton Hotel. The people at work suggested me to stay at this hotel, since it is close to my work location. However, I had an unacceptable and terribly inconvenient experience...
Read moreI was very unhappy with my stay and treatment this visit to the Sheraton Westport Plaza. I showed up about 3 hours early for check-in to see if they could get me into my room early and was greeted in a friendly enough way. However, the fellow then tried to play off that I had reserved a room at the Sheraton Chalet on the other side of the plaza. When I showed him my confirmation email, he tried to make out that some sort of mistake had happened. He quoted me a rate about 20 dollars under what I had been quoted over the phone when I made my reservation almost two weeks earlier. I did not want to stay at the Chalet, which is known for having mold issues. I also had personal reasons for not wanting to stay there. If I had wanted to stay there, I would have made reservations there. He kept telling me the Plaza was full and there was nothing he could do. I told him that was unacceptable and that I wanted to speak with the manager. He went away for a while and came back to tell me the manager was in a meeting but he could give me two free drink vouchers and a dinner voucher for my trouble. He also had a piece of paper, which I noted said "Moved to" with my name on it. The first time I called him on it, he tried to ignore me. The second time he finally said that he had just gotten it. He was able to find me a room for the second night of my stay but I had to find another hotel elsewhere for that night.
When I returned the next day, I was given a room that both figuratively and literally put me in the corner. I was on the top floor, but I was in a corner room stuck between the stairs AND the club lounge. Noises from the lounged woke me more than once. That is when the AC wasn't running with the sound of a semi-truck starting up. While my rate was lowered significantly, I do not feel that this made up for the awful treatment or what had to be one of the worst rooms in the hotel.
I have to say that I would not recommend this hotel, simply because they could shunt you off to the lower end motel on the other side of the plaza. I got no email, no call, no warning that they wanted to move me. I feel this is an unacceptable way to treat a customer paying almost $200 a night. I have gotten better rooms and treatment from hotels where I pay less. River City Casino coming first to my mind, which is where I ended up staying when the Plaza did not honor my...
Read moreI stayed at Westport Sheraton on April 18-20th in St. Louis, MO. First off overall the location is easy to get to and is a clean environment with a mostly helpful staff. My issues with the hotel come from minor issues that they seem to not address very well. First off they put us in room 203 and that room has issues. I have stayed in other rooms in past in this hotel that did not have same issues. The window glass has lost the gas between the panes which makes it not transparent at all. Very annoying if you are trying to look outside. I did go outside the hotel and look from outside and it seems luck of the draw that room looks like only one that has that issue. Also the bathroom in it has absolutely no fans and the in wall vent in it is pulling no air from the bathroom and we all know how that affects the rest of the hotel room. Third issue I have with this location is I reported on April 18th that the ice machine on that floor is not working. As of April 20th it is still broken and there is no out of order sign or anything to indicate that they have even tried to fix that ice machine. Not a big deal to go to one of other floors to get ice it just appears the hotel is not doing maintenance very well and could indicate a declining environment. The biggest disturbance I had was this morning I had Internet usage billed to my room when it is was selected as a perk upon my check in as a Gold SPG member. The first day I tried to get on it and the online authentication has you agree to a charge to let you on. I called down to guest relations and they told me that is the procedure to activate the internet but it will not show up on bill. I got the first days bill and exactly as they said it was not on the bill. No issues there. The next day's bill had Internet charge on it so I went down to guest services to get it cleared up and they told me it has to be removed upon checkout and won't do it automatically. Since that is not what I had been told or experienced in the previous day I feel it was the easiest answer to give me instead of what I believe is correct answer. To me that seems like a staff answer to just get rid of a customer issue instead of trying to...
