Ocean-front motel with direct beach access and plentiful parking. It's not fancy, but it's well priced for otherwise Very Expensive Maui, especially with the beach access and free parking. That beach is a shared between several properties, so expect it'll be busy- kids playing and so forth. But walk down and over and you can find a little peaceful spot to get your sunset photos. And being Hawaii and being in the tropics, sunsets are always worth attending. Shoreline is rocky, the water is calm. The entry-level queen room is full featured, but smaller. The bathroom is tight enough that larger folks may want a bigger room. The big downside, it was on the ground floor with the sidewalk right outside, tucked between buildings. Meaning anybody walking by is immediately outside your window, and the view doesn't even hint at Hawaii. Also no curtain, just slats, so there will be light bleed if you wanted to sleep in. If you want more privacy (or a view), don't book this cheapest room. I was only sleeping there between explorations, so I didn't mind. That said, the room is well-equipped; including a desk, makeup table, coffee station, fridge, microwave, and TV. A very simple breakfast is also included (pick up in lobby). This side of Maui is a mix of residential and tourist, with a series of really nice public beach parks and absolutely lovely sunsets. There's restaurants within a couple of miles, although not much right where the hotel is. The upside: location and beach access. Well priced. The downside: simple, basic rooms, no view & poor privacy in cheaper room.

We stayed at 10 different accommodations over several weeks on the 4 major islands. While Days Inn by Wyndham Maui Oceanfront was not the most luxurious, it was by far the best value. It appeared close to being new to us, both inside and out, in 2024. Inside and outside were spotlessly clean. This is our most recommended place to families and friends who want to be right on an excellent beach for getting in the open ocean - at the best price. There was no charge to park the rental car. There was no "Resort Fee." Plenty of dining options in driving distance. The room, grounds, and continental breakfast far exceeded the Days Inn brand on the mainland. This is where we would return first for the best cost value if we simply wanted a place on the leeward side of Maui to base out of while doing other activities and/or a place to simply enjoy the ocean/beach. I'm taking the time to do this google review because I'm thankful for the value provided by this hotel. Also, we noticed people walking away from their belongings to go into the ocean and we noticed no one bothering or taking items. And we noticed some teenagers who either arrived very early in the morning or who stayed overnight to fish. About an hour after sunrise when people began to come to sunbathe and swim, they completely cleaned up after themselves as left. They are a credit to their families and community and set the example for "pono" in an age when other teens might have a reputation for being disrespectful. All this is to say that the area seemed good and seemed safe, to us.

ā€¼ļøDo NOT stay thereā€¼ļø What a terrible experience! My husband and I were on our honeymoon and we decided to stay there because of its proximity to the beach, price, and decent rating. However, this is completely unjustified and this place feels like a complete scam! First, we booked a queen size room, which was supposed to be 290 sqft and ended up being 130 sqft at most. The bed was small and barely fit for 2 people and definitely not a large double bed as in the description or a queen size as in the name of the room. Everything was small, the bathroom, the sink was tiny, we could even touch the ceiling with our hands! The window could not open because of the lamp and the table and the lack of space overall. Overall the room was not up to standard and definitely not worth the money. We asked to change room but they explained that all rooms were the same. The staff was unfriendly and unhelpful. The only good thing is that they accepted to only charge us for one night so we could move to a different place afterwards. That said, we paid the same price in a different nearby location and had an incredible experience. Don’t get fooled by some of the good reviews and find another place!

Recently I stayed at the Days Inn in South Maui located on the border between Kihei and Wailea. The Days Inn is LITERALLY right on the beach. And as an Executive, who travels often - for both work and leisure - I was pleasantly surprised with my overall stay and experience. I didn’t think I would EVER find myself staying at a Days Inn and certainly didn’t think I would be writing such a rave review. I had always assumed The Days Inn was a last-resort, low-quality, skeevy motel (sorry Days Inn-I know better now). However, my week-long stay at the Days Inn, 2980 South Kihei Road, in Mau, completely changed my perception and proved my assumptions wrong.||The hotel’s landscape is beautifully maintained, with groundskeepers out like clockwork every morning, ensuring everything looks pristine. Even though the beach access is shared with the public, I never saw a single piece of trash, cigarette butt, or anything out of place. The cleanliness is impressive.||One of the most important things to note was that the beds were actually COMFORTABLE!!! Having a comfy bed with clean sheets is a non-negotiable for me and my number one priority. I cannot believe I am saying this, BUT, the Days Inn did not disappoint (at least not this one). Considering its beachfront location, I was pleasantly surprised that there was no damp or musty smell. The rooms smelled fresh and were impeccably cleaned every day. Despite my best efforts to keep the sand on the beach, remnants inevitably ended up in my clothes and shoes. Given this, you might expect the floors to be gritty and sandy, but that was never the case. The housekeeper for room #205 did such an outstanding job that I could walk around barefoot without ever feeling a trace of sand.||Don’t get me wrong, my stay wasn't without hiccups; I originally stayed in room #117 but had to be moved due to a significant ant problem. When I mentioned it to the front desk, not to complain but to request pest control, the woman immediately heard the concern in my voice and offered to change my room. I was absolutely delighted with this thoughtful and prompt response. The customer service was exceptional, and I felt genuinely cared for.||The hotel offers a complimentary "breakfast," which includes water, yogurt, oatmeal packs, prepackaged muffins and danishes, and a small assortment of fresh fruits like oranges, apples, and bananas. It's simple and very basic.||The rooms are VERY small, and I can't imagine how a family with kids would manage. With just myself and two suitcases, it felt quite ā€œsnugā€. The shower is ā€œcozyā€, to say it nicely, but it’s functional. Let me say it again for folx in the back, the rooms ARE SMALL! ||All the staff members were friendly and helpful, BUT…BUT…BUT…I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge the MOST EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE, I received DAILY from KAOLANI. She is AMAZING and epitomizes excellent customer service!!!!! 100%! She made me feel at home, greeting me by name every morning and made me feel like she genuinely caring about my stay. She offered local insights and was always ready to assist with anything I needed. I'm not usually a hugger, but she was so fantastic that I asked if I could give her a hug before I left. As someone who stays in many hotels for work, I can honestly say that Kaolani provided THE BEST customer service I've ever experienced (and I’ve been to DR, Australia, Trinidad and Tobago, Africa, Thailand, Greece, Dubai, and many other international places). I’ve come across some ā€œniceā€ people and have experience some ā€œgood customer serviceā€ BUT never have I had the ā€œKaolani experienceā€ …yes, It should be trademarked! She IS AMAZING and a great representative for Days Inn. If I could have her on my team in Boston, I would have absolutely offered her a job immediately!! Hold on tight to her!! She’s not replaceable and her professionalism and knowledge is rare now a days. ||Overall, my stay at the Days Inn was wonderful. Despite my initial apprehensions about staying at a Days Inn, this hotel proved to be the opposite of what I expected. The exceptional service, particularly from Kaolani, made this an enjoyable trip. I highly recommend this hotel for its location, FREE parking, clean/ comfortable accommodation, and outstanding...

A Gem on the Beach with Exceptional Service This Days Inn is in South Maui located on the border between Kihei and Wailea. It is LITERALLY right on the beach. The location did not disappoint. Overall a good experience. However, they did lose some points right off the bat.

The bad:

BE WARNED: a major credit card is required to check in to the room. DEBIT IS NOT ACCEPTED. This would have been nice to know when we booked 4 months prior but it was not stated anywhere. The only thing that was said was "credit card required." We then had to call a relative because we don't actually own a regular credit card (only debit) who lived 5 timezones away. They then wanted said person to fill out a credit card authorization form with no way of printing said form. They were nice enough to fill it out over the phone, however. We also were not the only ones with this issue, even at the time we were checking in. There was another couple who had the exact same issue.

There is no elevator. Keep that in mind if you have back problems and have heavy luggage.

The shower can be inconsistent. Similar to two people trying to use hot water at the same time in a regular house. It will go from a good temp to freezing cold and back.

The overblown/take it how you want:

I've seen reviews saying this place had "paper thin walls." I actually found the opposite. The only time noise was an issue was when someone was directly outside or near the door. I had absolutely no issues hearing anyone in any other room unless their room door was wide open.

The rooms are small, yes. However I found they still had plenty of room. We had a one bedroom for two people and still had room for two suitcases to sit comfortably. Plus, more often than not we were exploring Maui, not sitting in the hotel room. The pillows were a little firmer than most hotels, but I like that so it was a non-issue for me.

The AC is quiet, however does very little to reduce humidity and can take a little bit to learn with no instruction manual.

Also, if you're like me and you leave the "do not disturb" sign hanging as a sign you don't want the room cleaned, they will ignore it. I do find they will knock first (this was the only time they actually didn't clean the room, at my request), however if you are not there to answer, they will go in anyway.

The good:

The staff was very friendly and overall very helpful. I felt the rooms were very clean and up to date. I was also a fan of the entire thing being solar powered. That was very nice when a storm blew through and we didn't lose power at all when others did.

The hotel is also very close to some good restaurants. There is also one nearby (in the parking lot), however it was a little expensive for my taste so I did not try it. (They had valet parking so, that kind of expensive).

Overall, I'd probably stay there again. Just remember the credit...
