So sad to say this beautiful amazing place is no longer welcoming to us as a family with 3 young kids. This is our 4th time here. Our first time coming I was pregnant with our first and we were on our baby moon. Every time we've come we've had 1 more child and now we have 3 young kids and over the last 6 years this place has become more and more hostile (literally) towards children. Our toddler (18 month old who's going through a screaming phase) screamed 1 time at the pool and within a minute we had a manager come over (very apologetically) to tell us there was a complaint. On a unusually cold and stormy day my 4 1/2 year old jumped in the hot tub for a minute to warm up because her teeth were chattering and her lips were blue. I was immediately approached by a resident to ask if she was 6. Obviously she preferred for her to freeze then to relent on her role of policing the pool for 1 cold day. There are new rules every time we come, like no loud noise, no marco polo allowed in the pool and now a new rule we were unprepared for which is no kids in the hot tub under age 6! And unbelievably fines of $100 to $400 dollars for breaking these rules. The new rule signs are so big and bold its hard to even enjoy the beautiful landscaping. There are older folks who obviously don't find young kids very cute at both pools most of the time policing the pools so really the rules are "no fun allowed". It made us feel hugely unwelcome and it is so unfortunate as we've been coming here since before we had children and have loved it here. I'm not sure with all this hostility and discrimination towards families and people with children and the unrelenting pool police that we will be able to return here although we have loved it for the last 7 years. We save our miles and money for a couple years to make this trip and are sad to feel so unwelcome and unwanted just because we have children. Obviously children and adults with children are less important than adults here and don't deserve to feel valued and to feel welcome. I understand people who own here and have retired here want to enjoy their quiet and there relaxation, but it's been taken way too far. It really should be an adults only facility if they are going to make it this hostile towards families. It was impossible to relax and enjoy our much needed family time at either pool while being watched the whole time by the pool police. How the complex has treated us and our children on this visit has been very discouraging to my husband and I and makes me feel really cynical toward humanity.... the people overseeing this place have lost the ability to enjoy the smile or peels of laughter of children and obviously prefer not to be around children and just see them as a nuisance. I would guess it just because a few people who have to much say are unhappy themselves and cannot share in the happiness or joy of anyone else....
Read moreI can't say enough wonderful things about our stay at Maui Kamaole! The D211 condo was perfect for my husband and I and two teenage daughters. They each had their own bed and loved having their own lanai and bathroom. ||The lanais were all amazing! We took our meals on the main one off the living room each day, listening to the birds waking up in the morning and watching the sun going down in the evening. The two lanais off the bedrooms had clever hooks which soon became the perfect location for our wet bathing suits and beach towels... we somehow kept forgetting that we had a washer and dryer in the unit! There was plenty of cozy seating in the living room for the whole family. ||The kitchen was really well equipped with everything we needed to cook our own meals, and we were fantastically surprised with how well equipped the cupboard on the main lanai was - all the beach gear we could possibly need! ||The beds were SO comfortable! Comfy mattresses, perfect pillows, soft sheets, even the bathroom towels and beach towels were all plush and great quality. Everything was spotless - we have never stayed in such a well maintained unit before! The property was phenomenally gorgeous. So lush and tropical - we loved walking around the grounds and the landscapers deserve a special shout out! ||The pools were both beautiful and clean and the surrounding areas well landscaped. The trees... the flowers... the blooming shrubbery... beautiful! ||The condo was a short walk down to Kamaole 3 beach where we went every day for great waves and snorkelling. A bit of a longer walk to Keawakapu for even better swimming and snorkelling. A ten minute walk to Coconuts Fish Cafe - our fav place to have fish tacos and poke in Kihei. Condo staff was all very accomodating and easy going when we kept having to change the car we were parking in our allotted parking space. ||When we got lost trying to find our unit on the first day returning from the beach, we stopped by the lower pool and there was an info desk and a lovely lady who gave us a map of the grounds. Staying at Maui Kamaole absolutely made this the trip of a lifetime for us. There were many different condo complexes we would drive by on our way home every day, and we always agreed that ours was most clearly the loveliest. Thank you for the greatest family vacation we have ever had. We will never forget and it and already...

The location is great, with close by beaches and walkable shops and food. It is a very relaxing feel in the area, with clean beaches and even some parks for kids. The location is probably one of the best features. The complex is feeling old and most of the condos we saw and stayed in were feeling outdated in furniture and decorations. Having stayed at a dozen of the different condo complexes in the area, this one is feeling poorly kept inside and out. The complex seems to have a high ratio of residents, who really don't seem to like all the people renting condos. We talked to several different residents, and they all made it quite clear that they'd prefer the renters went away.
Why did I feel it was poor customer service and disappointing security? We had 2 items stolen (different occurrences/days) during our stay there. As soon as the first item was determined missing, we went to the front desk. Their response, "sorry about that." We decided to check back with them a couple hours later, hoping that something might have been turned in. We hoped that maybe it would be found discarded or something. The second person had no knowledge at all of the prior report and also said they would keep an eye out for it being turned in. The following day we checked in again, with the third person also not having any knowledge of our situation, but did make a note about it. That evening we came across one of the security guards who didn't know anything about it!? They said that only the head of security had access to the security cameras, and he was on vacation with no known return date.
So, clearly the front desk isn't talking to each other, or to security. Security is limited to video cameras that one person has access to. They also don't seem to care at all about our situation or helping find...
