My name is James Arnold and I have stayed here 2 times now.
This hotel is a n Absolutely Perfect Weekend Reset! This is the Gold Standard of Hospitality.
My partner and I were in desperate need of a quiet, restorative getaway to recharge our batteries, and we chose the Hampton Inn & Suites in McKinney for a one-night stay this past Friday. To say we were impressed would be a monumental understatement. From the moment we walked through the doors, this property and its team completely redefined our expectations of what a hotel experience can be. The Arrival: We were immediately greeted by the front desk professional with a genuine, welcoming smile that made us feel right at home. The check-in process was seamless and efficient, but she took a moment to genuinely engage with us, asking about our plans for the weekend. It wasn't just a script; it was a real conversation that made us feel less like customers and more like valued guests. That small, personal touch set the entire tone for our stay. The Room: Our room was immaculate. Not just "clean," but meticulously cared for. The linens were crisp, the pillows were plush (a perfect mix of soft and firm!), and there wasn't a speck of dust in sight. It’s clear that the housekeeping staff here are unsung heroes who take immense pride in their work. We had everything we needed to simply relax and forget about the outside world for a while. The Details that Matter: Peace & Quiet: Despite the hotel being busy, we heard virtually nothing from the hallway or adjacent rooms. The soundproofing is excellent, and we enjoyed one of the most peaceful nights of sleep we've had in months. The Legendary Breakfast: The Hampton Inn breakfast is always a treat, but this location executes it perfectly. The entire area was spotless, the food was hot, fresh, and constantly being replenished by an attentive staff member who was cheerfully greeting every guest. The waffle maker was, of course, a highlight! The Staff's Local Knowledge: We asked the front desk for a recommendation for a nice, casual dinner spot, and they didn't just point us to the town square. They asked what kind of food we liked and recommended a specific restaurant, even telling us their favorite dish. Their suggestion was perfect and made our evening truly special. The Bottom Line: In the hospitality industry, a hotel can have nice rooms and good amenities, but it's the people who create a memorable experience. Every single staff member we encountered was professional, cheerful, and seemed genuinely happy to be there. This culture of excellence is a direct reflection of outstanding management. This stay was more than just a night in a hotel; it was the perfect reset button we desperately needed. We left feeling refreshed, cared for, and incredibly grateful. We will not only be back, but we will be recommending this exact Hampton Inn & Suites to all of our friends and family in the area. Thank you for creating a true home...

Bedding:
My blanket and sheets had a disturbing yellow stain on it, unfortunately did not realize until the end of my stay. I had terrible breakouts each morning; I’m allergic to dust mites so I’m sure my bed was covered in them. I showered thoroughly each night, but it wasn’t until I left that the itching and rashes started to go away.
Cleanliness:
So much dust was found: around the finger piece to open/close the bathroom sliding door on top of closet clothes bar, toilet paper holders, corners and crevices of surfaces in bathroom and room, etc. Stains on walls and carpets. And I must note again the bed , as mentioned above, had unforgiving yellow stains near the head of the bed and I cannot stress enough that I was extremely itchy abs broke out from the bed.
Staff:
Was greeted by a nice, but not sanitary gentlemen in the evening. Meaning he was kind, but would constantly rub his nose with his hands while typing on the keyboard and activating the room cards. Additionally after activating each card, he strangely held each card to his stomach.
Other things to note:
Sink was appalling. It’s a light pressured small water faucet. Terrible water flow, and the functionality of the knob was not ideal.
TV/remote did not work properly. Once I used the “guide” button, it was game over. It would not stop automatically scrolling down itself and I couldn’t exit the guide for the life of me. Even turned off and unplugged tv in hopes of restarting. Turned on to the down-scrolling guide page, even after a while day.
USB port did not function, and very little charging options near the bed.
Overall, I was extremely uncomfortable during my stay here at the Hampton by Hilton in McKinney. I typically enjoy getting away and staying at hotels, but I honestly could not wait to leave this place because it was just so dirty and poorly maintained.
Do yourself a favor, just go elsewhere. I do not...
Read moreThe one star is for the pool and hot tub. I’m a long haul driver..I had a 34 hour reset near Dallas, so I opted for the Hampton as I do on most occasions. Upon check in I went down to the pool I stayed roughly 90 min before returning to my room #321. I took a quick shower and got a phone call my ex and our son were on the way from Dallas. I began to put my clothes away and pick up the bathroom I took the couch cushions off to lay them by the bed with a sheet and discovered 2 used insulin syringes with what appeared to be blood in them, after further inspection I noticed blood on the pillow as well., I called downstairs and no answer. I got my things and put the aforementioned into a trash bag to bring to the front desk. When I got there I gave it to the employee and informed him I would not be staying. He asked me to call the next day to speak to the manager and they would reimburse me or offer me another room. I agreed and left. When I called repeatedly for 4 days I finally got the assistant manager James Humphrey he said he would not issue any reimbursement not apologize. He said I stayed in the room to long, I checked in at 4:30 PM and left at 7:05 PM with 90 min in the pool. Then he accused me of planting them myself for a reason he could not give. When I asked for the general manager he refused and said he would not be doing that. Then told me call corporate were done here.. I did call corporate and spoke to a lovely woman who opened a case in regards to my complaint. And will be moving forward with an investigation into the managerial staff at this location.. I’ve been staying at Hampton and Hilton for the past 15 years and won’t let one unprofessional individual ruin any future stays .. I have faith in the corporate office to handle the situation and perhaps get new employees in this location it’s...
