My rating comes with some grace for a new opening, so any criticism I make is what I hope will be taken as room for improvement on the restaurant's part and not a means to discourage others from trying it.
For starters we ordered the vegetable tempura and the shrimp tempura. Both had a heavier batter than traditional tempura, but tasty none the less. The squid salad came on a bed of julienne cucumbers, also very good.
Crabcake- it was ok... warm, not hot and a bit too salty for my taste.
The miso soup... it was warm, not hot and the seaweed (?) and green onions were al dente. While I appreciate a large amount of seaweed, it seemed more like I was chewing on kale- I think it was kale, because it wasn't very salty and the texture was off. I got the sense that they started with a pot of boiling water, then dumped all the ingredients into the pot and turned it off. Definitely could have been brought to a boil and simmered longer.
Also regarding temperature, we ordered hot green tea. We each got our own mini pot. Mine was hot, my daughter's was lukewarm. She would have sent hers back but I just swapped mine for hers as I don't need my tea to be that hot.
All the rolls were surprisingly generous. We tried the kiwi roll and the mango roll. I preferred the kiwi- I liked the creamy texture of the avocado which toned down the overall sweetness. My daughter preferred the mango. Save them for dessert.
Mckinney roll and Spider roll were as one would expect, we both enjoyed those. I especially liked the generous amount of crunchy topping (panko?) on the McKinney roll.
The Ahi Tower... ok loved the presentation and it was so cute as a mini tower... it packed a bit more heat (spice) than I was expecting but I still found it delicious. In retrospect, I think I was supposed to transfer it to my plate which was slightly concave, making it easier to blend but I managed to portion it like a pie with my chopsticks and eat it off the flat plate without spilling.
Beef Soba- good noodle/sauce flavor. The beef could have been more tender and less gristle. Again, the temperature was warm, not hot.
Our server was Niko- he was very polite and attentive, took the time to explain the rules (its not a self serve buffet folks!) He did, however forget to use the 10% off coupon I had sitting on the table. I failed to notice it until after he ran my debit card. Niko was apologetic from the get go, but it was not his place to void a transaction. I understood this- mistakes happen.
Manager shows up to apologize and then, I hope she was joking when she "assured me" that when she and Niko got behind closed doors, she would make sure he never made that mistake again. Suddenly I felt bad for Niko, like she's going to punish him (write up/counsel/yell) because she had to do her job and fix a mistake?!? Isn't the fact that he had to call her enough of a lesson? Maybe it wasn't the first time he's made that mistake but it came off condescending. Bad vibes.
The manager then tells me how customers have a problem with voiding a charge on a debit account because there is a 3 day delay to return the funds to the cardholders account. So until that happens, there will be 2 charges on my account before the credit shows up. I get it, it may be inconvenient to have that money on hold for a few days, so thanks for the information, that's ok. She then said I could use the coupon next time... wait, what?!? No, I want to use it this time- she left reluctantly to void it. When she returned with my receipts to sign, she looked at the leftovers on the table and told me that beginning in Novemeber they will charge an additional waste fee per plate. See above regarding generous rolls. I already learned to order less or come with someone who eats more. More bad vibes... poor timing. I do want to try other items on the menu but I didn't feel welcome to sample more when I left. There's room for management to improve customer relations thus the 3 stars...

So there are some interesting rules at this place, it's fun and quirky... I think. Or at least they try to be. I completely understand the wasted food charge being 5 dollars a plate is a necessity. Heck, I even agree with it. What I don't get is that the food alone being $32 dollars with a $5 dollar charge per wasted plate and they insist that EVERYONE finishes their food at the table before you can even order more food. That rule alone made this a VERY FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE. I was in a large party. I would NOT suggest going in a large party. It's so frustrating. Oh my gosh it's so frustrating. Thankfully they messed up our order and double food (fried station) came out. I ate it because I was just so hungry. Then with the day winding down, they got more lax with that rule. If you're a fast eater and you got Chatty McChatters in your party... It might be super frustrating. Alone or with just 2 or 3 people? Amazing Probably. Worth a try. Large group not recommended. Plus everything is gonna be like 15% more because of added gratuity on the ticket. No...
Read moreI had such a wonderful experience at this sushi and seafood restaurant! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and beautifully designed. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, always making sure we were taken care of without being overbearing.
The sushi was absolutely fresh and beautifully presented — every roll was perfectly balanced with flavor and texture. The seafood dishes were just as impressive; you can tell they use high-quality, fresh ingredients.
What stood out most was the attention to detail — from the plating to the flavor combinations, everything was carefully thought out. It’s rare to find a place that nails both sushi and cooked seafood dishes so well, but this restaurant truly delivers.
I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending it to friends and family. A must-try for any sushi or...
