This will be my most negative impression of a chain restaurant, which attracts with external tinsel, but does not match the prices for service and food. I often walked past and doubted whether it was worth visiting this establishment, and yet I made the mistake of succumbing to the external advertising and the number of visitors: 1. The very uncomfortable location of the restaurant (although it seems convenient, near the railway) - train signals drown out those talking at the table. 2. The tables placed close does not even allow you to sit down for a pleasant meal. 3. When you haven’t finished your meal yet and the dishes are still on your table, they immediately hurriedly bring you a bill for payment so that you can quickly get out of here. 4. My old father (he is 88 years old) was with us and we were seated in a very drafty place and my father was cold. When I asked for at least a blanket for my father, which is customary in Europe and in good restaurants or cafes, or for permission to take a table inside the restaurant, we were denied all this. 5. Then the waiter came with a runny nose and began taking the order. No advice or recommendations were given in choosing dishes, although we were interested and asked for advice. This was very surprising, of course. 6. Father refused to order food - he is a gourmet. I ordered an omelette with shrimp - not bad, but too sweet even for Thai cuisine. My son ordered steak and eggs. A bunch of unflavoured rice and a rather dry minced steak on top for $33!!! This is too much! The coffee wants to be of the best quality for cappuccino. 7. And all this must be eaten quickly, where it is crowded and when seating your neighbors can push your table, which is already wobbly, noisy, and the noise from the trains is ear-splitting. I am very sorry for the time I wasted and now I trust my intuition - everything in artificial flowers should immediately indicate cheap service and not very high-quality dishes. Perhaps it was just me and my loved ones who were so unlucky with the visit, but I only...
Read moreMy wife and I come here often. In fact this is where we bring our friends when they visit the Bay Area. They serve authentic Thai cuisine in a fine dining set up. The chef is formally trained at the famous Le Cordon Bleu, if I’m not mistaken, which lends a presentation flair to the already inviting savory Thai flavors. This is quintessential Asian comfort food inspired by a homey, rural palate. Some items on the menu are spicy, so feel free to ask your server first. Other than that, order away! I highly recommend the 24-hr beef noodle soup, it’s bold and delightful for those cold winter days or nights, or any time of the year at all. You get a big chunk of tender beef rib, slowly simmered to a perfect texture, and rich brown broth. The noodles are thin and firm, and stands well to complement the earthy ingredients. My wife usually orders the Hat Yai fried chicken which is always a delicious intro to Thai food. It comes with a sweet chili dip, and a small bowl of curry sauce, which you can use as a dip or to dress the blue rice. Yes, blue rice which I think is Jasmine rice infused with butterfly pea flower. The chicken is a nice, crispy fillet that is familiar to everyone. We also ordered the Neua Num Tok rolls which is a wagyu beef roll with cucumbers and mint cilantro vinaigrette, perfect starter. Other than that, we’ve also had the signature pad thai, the tom yum, tom kha, and other Thai staples. I could spend each day ordering each item on the menu! Also watch out for their occasional specials, albeit a bit pricey, their platters are a like a guided culinary tour of Thai food scene. Make sure to tell your server if you’re celebrating...
Read moreMy husband booked this for our family as a special treat for mother's Day, although it was a week after mother's day. We were seated outside on the front patio and it was a lovely evening. I ordered one of their specialty cocktails and it was delicious. For dinner we ordered chicken wings, the kids chicken and rice, my husband had the basil bomb and I ordered the fried chicken. My son liked the chicken wings, my daughter did not love the crispy coating on the kids chicken so took it all off (there was a lot of it), she did like the sauce that came with it. My husband loved his basil bomb, he had been at this restaurant once before and loved it so ordered it again. My fried chicken was good, as was the roti bread. It came with the most delicious curry sauce for dipping. However, here is my reason for the low stars, the quantity of sauce was so small that I only dipped a quarter of my chicken in it, and that was being sparing. For me, the sauce is what makes the meal, I absolutely decide a meal based on the sauce. We asked our server if I could have some more dipping sauce for the remainder of my meal but she replied that I would have to order the meal again. This was the craziest thing I have ever heard. Bear in mind this is not a cheap restaurant, everything is expensive and I couldn't get another bowl of dipping sauce without paying another $35! I ended up eating some more of my dry chicken, dry roti and dry rice but it was not enjoyable and the whole experience put a damper on what should have been a wonderful mother's day experience. I would not go back again, it was not worth it for me. So...
