Edit: When I made my booking, I called Miami River Inn by RENZZI and was told due to the change in management I can only book through expedia or by phone. I booked on expedia. You did have record of my booking. I paid at the property. My card was swiped at the property and I was given a receipt printed up in your lobby. At check-in, no one informed me of renovations or amenities being unavailable. Also didn't hear that being said to anyone checking in actually. Expedia said if the owners okayed the refund they would be able to send a refund, but you said no. I have record of everything
TLDR DO NOT EVEN THINK OF SPENDING MONEY HERE This hotel ruined our vacation by: 1- not giving us our room we PAID for 2- not providing any of the amenities advertised to us 3- The front staff told us the housekeepers recorded our room and showed it to them saying it was so messy 4- The housekeepers peed and left hairs on our toilet seat 5- they had Miami police show up to our hotel room claiming we were squatting 6- AFTER ALL OF THIS I WAS DENIED A REFUND
Arrived late at night after a long flight with many delays, given wrong room with broken bed frame. Given a different room, not the room we paid for, but all they had available. Went to take a shower before bed, no hot water. Exhausted not wanting to carry luggage to a new room we decided to sleep and deal with it tomorrow
Next day, wake up early for breakfast that was advertised online. We use the map sent to the DAY PRIOR to look up the breakfast hours and where it’s located. We go there, no breakfast. We ask front staff about it, they explain they don’t have breakfast despite advertising they do. I ask about the morning yoga classes advertised. Nope. They lied about that too. We go back to our room and see housekeeping had been there. It was a surprise because online said no housekeeping. As we get ready I go into the bathroom and see pubic hair and pee on the toilet seat. Not ours. The only other people who have been in our room was housekeeping.
After all of this, we pack our bags and head to the office. We explain it’s only been 12 hours and it’s not as advertised and now housekeeping came in and suddenly there’s pee and pubic hair on our toilet? We were told they knew housekeeping had gone to our room because they recorded our room and showed it to them because our room was so messy. That is an extreme violation of our privacy. Also, how are you going to pee all over our toilet and claim we are messy? And we are told there’s no refunds. They can only change our room.
Not wanting be out a thousand dollars we move rooms again, still not the room we booked. We were told they don’t have that room available to anyone right now despite having it as a bookable room online. We say we don’t want any housekeeping, and we try our best to figure out what to do.
Next morning, loud knock on our door wakes us up. I rush to the door, MIAMI POLICE. I answer the door, they say the hotel called them and reported us for squatting. We go with them down to the lobby and wait for around half an hour before staff shows up to sort it out. Again, we ask for a refund. Again, we were told no refunds under any circumstances.
After that we looked around the hotel to try and match up the online pictures with reality. The public space was in disarray and filled with construction materials. We looked forever for the library, we finally found it and it was locked. I was going to ask for the code so we’d have one spot to be, but when I looked in the window the library was in disarray as well and had a debris and a random mattress. The only thing advertised that they had was the pool. My experience happened almost a year ago, they are still falsely advertising online. I went through every single facet I could to try and get a refund, but could not.
To the business, if you’re reading this, truly how do you sleep at night? You are scamming people. How dare you advertise a completely different hotel experience online and then say no refunds under any...
Read moreThe photos online make this property look clean and charming, but the reality was extremely disappointing. The very first red flag happened at check‑in. My boyfriend was waiting behind a couple, and after they finished, he walked up to the desk and politely said hello, trying to check in. The woman at the desk looked up, said hi, and immediately went back to what she was doing instead of helping him. Then the same couple came back inside, cut in front of him, and started talking to her again — and she let them, completely ignoring him until he had to step back up and say again that he was there to check in. That alone should’ve been our sign to leave, but we decided to stay.
As soon as we walked into the yellow building where the rooms are, we noticed severe water damage throughout the entrance floor. The wood was badly damaged — sunken in and uneven to the point where it shifted under your feet when you stepped on it, which didn’t feel safe at all. When we got to our room, it was more of the same. The entire space felt dirty the second we walked in. The walls were covered in scuffs, scratches, and old stains that looked like they hadn’t been painted or properly cleaned in years. The wood floors were beat up, scratched, and stained with what looked like water spots and grime. The furniture, including the chair, had visible dark stains, and the bed frame looked worn and dirty. Even the corners of the room and edges of the floor had built-up dirt and dust, like they hadn’t been touched in forever.
The ceiling showed water damage as well, with cracks and peeling paint, and around the ceiling fan there were multiple holes that made it look like the fan had fallen at some point and been put back up without properly repairing the damage — which didn’t feel safe either.
The bathroom was just as bad. The tiles were cracked with sloppy patchwork, and there was visible mold and grime around the tub and sink areas. There was also hair and dirt both inside the shower and around its edges, which was disgusting to see right after checking in. The “soap” they left out for washing hands wasn’t even hand soap — it was hair shampoo. The shower couldn’t be adjusted and was angled toward the wall, so the water hit my neck instead of my body, and the only way to make it halfway usable was to lower the water pressure so it would spray lower.
On top of all that, there was no fridge or microwave in the room, which is a basic amenity almost every hotel offers, especially for the price we paid. Between the misleading photos online, the water damage and mold throughout the property, the hair and dirt left in the bathroom, the lack of basic amenities, the unsafe ceiling fan and unstable entrance floor, and the unprofessional service at check‑in, this stay was far below any reasonable expectation. Until this place goes through serious repairs, deep cleaning, and staff training, I would not recommend...
Read moreI live across the street from this place and was a frequent flyer when it used to be Selina/Casa Florida, and it's abysmal the amount of sound that travels in such a short distance since the new management have taken over. Have had friends stay here in the past and the accommodations are much smaller than anticipated, but it was still a miami gem of a stay until recently.
The restaurant/lounge has great potential but they sincerely need to re-route the speakers and balance the audio throughout the venue versus packing all the sound out of individual tops/subs. The place OVERALL has potential but they are not being considerate of the neighborhood, or from what I can tell, even the guests. I've seen several guests reviews stating that noise is even more apparent within the hotel walls. It's virtually impossible to carry a conversation in any area of the venue.
Blasting 90db+ on a weekday is not it, especially in what is considered a residentially zoned area. Not sure when it got rezoned for sound ordinance to go past 12am, but I'm not ecstatic about it going on until 3am. I moved to this area for peace and quiet during the week. Totally here for it on the weekends, and have attended in the past, but I don't see myself going out of my way to send friends or myself into the venue until the noise issues get resolved and the management is running the place a bit better to keep control of their crowds attending.
The new crowd that has floated in is also extremely inconsiderate, loud at ungodly times when leaving, and the vendors coming in/out have blocked the street with 2 ton box trucks pretty much every day since they've changed management. I'm just disappointed all-around. I expected more when I saw the renovations being done and my past excitement has deflated drastically.
Truly don't go out of my way to post reviews, but I just needed to get it off my chest. Hope the management sees this as constructive and not a bash because I truly do want to see the place thrive, but the RIGHT and CONSIDERATE way. Not at the cost of your guests...
