I arrived to a decently pleasant check-in experience. The process did take a long time though because the woman checking me in kept being distracted by paperwork given to other guests that she 'forgot' to have them sign upon their check-in... but I was upgraded to a King from my original booking so whatever, I thought. The room, although stuffy and dark, was decently clean and large upon initial inspection for the price. I didn't really love the fact that the metal locking device had been removed from the door and there was only a deadbolt/tap card device but I let it go. I dropped my bags off and left to find dinner for about two hours. Upon leaving, I double checked the door as I do every single time I leave anywhere, my own home included. Not to mention, the door slams shut and locks whether you pull it closed or not.
Upon returning, my door was about 6 inches open. The only way to leave this door open is to guide it quietly to prevent the slam. I went to the front desk to inform them that someone had been in my room and the woman at the front desk had absolutely zero surprise on her face and immediately said it was obviously me that had left it wide open and that because of my complaint, she should down-grade me to the room I had initially booked. As angry as I was, I required her and another to accompany me to the room to check it out. Through-out the walk and elevator ride, she continued to berate me for leaving the door open (once again, the doors slam shut with or without anyone even touching the handle.) The male hotel staff member that accompanied us stayed silent the entire time, didn't seem surprised by any of this process whatsoever. I required a new key and went back to my room infuriated but also stuck with this hotel.
Through-out the rest of the night, at least once an hour, the toilet let out a LOUD hissing sound so I was sleepless all night. I tried to call down but the phone didn't work. On the mirror that borders the bathroom counter, I found old, smeared blood. The blowdryer didn't work and may very well burn that hotel down someday. The bed is hugely uncomfortable. And quite frankly, these things wouldn't have even bothered me enough to write a review if that woman at the front desk had handled the fact that someone had been in my room with an ounce of consideration.
Based on the check-in experience of people having to come back down from their room to sign 'forgotten' paperwork and someone obviously been able to access my room, I have no doubt that this hotel has some sort of scam going. As of today, my deposit has not been refunded and two payments were taken out of my account rather than one.
Awful experience on so...
Read moreMy first issue is when I booked the room it had advertised as a Queen 1 bed w/ river view. I arrived at the hotel earlier than check and was told my room was not ready and if it was done sooner they would let me check in with no additional cost. Which was fine by me. There were several other people there early waiting as well. I arrived around 12ish. So I as well as others sat in the lobby and waited which I told the front desk that’s what I would be doing. I sat there patiently and waited. Then I started to see the people before me getting assigned there rooms which was good now I know mine should be coming soon. Eventually I look and lobby is cleared out and now new people are just arriving (it is a little after 2 at this point) and getting keys and I’m still sitting there. So I go to the counter and question. I was told of your room is still not ready. So I’m like why are new people just getting here and getting rooms and I have been here for now over 2 hours and mine is not ready? He said he didn’t know. So I sat back down irritated because another person was checking in when I questioned and was getting their key. Less than 10 mins after I sat now my room was ready at now around 2:30/40 ish. I get to room and the river view I paid for was a view of a roof. I immediately head downstairs to inform. I was then told that a single queen does not come with a river view and they aren’t sure why it stated that and that all the river view room were taken since they were limited. I was told to call customer service. I called and the person was really nice but also made me feel like I was making it up about the river view because she couldn’t see it. I’m like ma’am I have email confirmation with river view in the description of the room. I even showed the front desk the email stating such. I was then told she would put in a complaint and send it to the hotel for resolution. So when I checked out they should have a resolution ready ex. Take something off the room or something. I stayed in the room and go to the elevator so I can go check out in the morning and both elevators are down. So I walk down the stairs and inform them and I am told to use the service elevator. Hence I have a heavy suitcase because this is my stay before my cruise. I get to the desk to check out he types my stuff in and no mention of my complaint or resolution. I don’t mention it since it’s there place to resolve. This was my 3rd time staying there before a cruise and unfortunately due to how this situation was handled I won’t be staying anymore. I have an upcoming cruise in February and had a reservation here and...
Read moreThis is my detailed review of the hotel and surrounding area. This was our first time in Miami. We stayed at the Comfort Inn and Suites for one night before our cruise since it was close to the Port, and arrived on a Sunday early afternoon. We took an XL Lyft for four of us from the airport that cost about $28 and it was a 15 minute or so easy drive. Once we arrived someone greeted us as we pulled in to take our bags and the receptionists were nice. Check in was 3:00 we arrived at 2:45. They asked us if we preferred water views and put us on the top floor on the end facing the river. The hotel was very quiet. We reserved a suite that sleeps 5. After taxes and fees it came to $220.58 which was cheaper than others nearby considering the room we had. They charged a $150 refundable deposit upon check-in. The room itself was very large, perfectly clean, comfortable, and modern. It had a living area with a pull out couch, two very comfortable queen beds, nice TV, sitting area with a desk and chair, dry bar- like area with a microwave, coffee pot, and mini fridge, a big full length mirror and a huge walk in closet with a safe. The bathroom was large, clean and modern. During the day you can watch the boats go by from your window and night-time was beautiful with all the lights. They have snacks ($) and even microwave meals in the lobby. They have a pool but it was closed that afternoon which we weren’t planning on using anyway. The location was ideal for us. Steps from the lobby was the Riverwalk Metro station. We hopped on for FREE and took it North just two stops to Bayside Park. There we got off and walked through the park to Bayside Market Place to eat and enjoy the evening. On the way back South we got off at the first stop, Knight Center, instead and still only had to walk across the street to get back to the lobby. There was a security police officer at Knights Center station who was very sweet and helpful. In the evening it was quite noisy from the occasional boat traffic/music, but we went to bed shortly after 10:00pm and didn’t hear one sound after that all night long from outside or inside the hotel. There were two construction sites going on across the water on Monday morning, we were up by 7:00am and we didn’t hear anything. Breakfast was included and ran from 6:30?-9:30. A large eating space, food was good but limited seating. We ate in our rooms. Check out was at 11:00 and we called another XL Lyft to the cruise port for a short 15 ride around $25. Overall a perfect experience and wonderful start to...
