Worst experience ever.
First, when we checked in, after a 9 hour drive in pouring rain, the female desk clerk (also one of the owners) asked for my credit card that I used to reserve the room with. I handed it to her and she instantly threw it back at me saying "bad card. Will not work because we are from out of state". I tried to call my bank, but could not get a hold of anyone since they closed 15 minutes prior. Luckily I had enough cash with me to pay in full, but the lady at the desk tried to insist I pay $15 mare for the convince of paying cash. I handed her the amount of the reservation (I made 3 weeks prior) down to the penny and she seemed irratated. The next morning I contacted my bank and was told Red Roof corporate verified the card 3 weeks earlier but it was never attempted or finalized at the hotel the night before.
Second, when we got to our room, we noticed there were only 2 bath towels and wash clothes in the room. This is a problem since we had 3 people in the room. I returned to the office and asked for one more set. The owner once again gave me an attitude saying I need to talk to housekeeping in the morning. I insisted that this was no acceptable and she finally gave me another set. The next morning I asked housekeeping for three sets, and we never received them. This continued for all 4 night's.
Third, housekeeping came by at 9:30 am the first morning stating that we are their last room to clean and we are holding them up from finishing. I informed them that we were just getting up and that we would be out of our room in about an hour. The next morning, they came by at 9:00 and said they wanted to make sure we were awake so we would not hold them up again. This also continued every morning.
Fourth, the whole time we were there, they never cleaned up around the exterior of the hotel. There was a used condom and wrapper just outside of our door. You would think housekeeping would have cleaned this up.
Finally, on our last night there, while I was at the office requesting towels again, the male owner was at the desk. After finally giving me my towels, he said "you better be checking out tomorrow." I said we were since we did not want to spend anymore time at this hotel than we needed to. I also questioned him...
Read moreI typically stay at motels rather than hotels because 9 times out of 10, I have my dog's in tow and finding a reasonably priced hotel that allows pets is a rarity. Red Roof as a chain is phenomenally pet friendly. Their policy is "pets always stay free" which is a huge perk for me. The downside is usually that the room is very run down. That is not a problem at this particular location. The room was kind of small but very visibly updated. Faux hardwood floors gave me confidence that the floor my dogs were laying on wasn't secretly sceezy and hiding unknown filth. The mini fridge was a decent size and operational. Unfortunately, the only place to heat up food was the lobby because there aren't microwaves in the rooms. The night manager who checked us in was very kind. I had a slight issue with the day manager my first day. He knocked on the door and asked how many pets I had. I told him that I had 2 dogs and he informed me that there's a 20 dollar a night fee for any additional pet. Told me there was a big sign in the lobby explaining this. And asked my to come to the lobby. While giving him permission to charge my card for this additional 60 dollars, I asked where this sign was. When he realized this sign didn't exist, he decided to only charge me 20. About 10 minutes later, he came back to my door to inform me that he was waiving the fee entirely. Other than that, our stay was great. Room was clean. Loved the grassy area. It was well kept and poop free and kind of sectioned out so even though the hotel was by a highway, I wasn't afraid of my dogs getting away from me and escaping into traffic. I was very impressed overall. Definitely the best kept Red Roof I've...
Read moreWe arrived early but were advised the earliest we could check-in would be 2:30. Booked from Sun - Thurs. We checked-in and were asked if we wanted a pool view & we accepted. We left our belongings in the car to inspect the cleanliness of the room. Pulled the sheets back on the bed & there was a small red bug crawling. I've never seen a beg bug but if i see a bug crawling on the bed, I assumed it to be one. I put it in a plastic cup & took it back to the front desk. Now I am leary about staying here. We requested a different room & did the same inspection. Nothing found this time so we stayed. Rooms are updated but only stocked w/2 towels/2washcloths (most hotels stock for 4) there were 3 of us, so when additional were requested we were given the runaround, then advised they would be brought to the room. That NEVER happened. Each day we had to make a special trip to get extra (management definitely needs to address this issue). Housekeeping is a JOKE at this place! Pack extra to avoid this happening. Room has small fridge/freezer. Microwave in common area w/an ice machine next door. Rooms are equipped w/flat screens which is nice to stream movies w/an HDMI cord or screen mirror from your phone. Free HBO, cable is comcast. Pool is nice size, cleanliness so/so. Walking distance to shop rite, dollar tree etc. Drive to beach is about 7 mins. Meter parking so bring lots of quarters!! Besides the BUG scare & the towel/washcloth/toliet paper issue our overall...
