Straight Shot Coffee Co. — Restaurant in Middletown

Straight Shot is my favorote coffee shop. My go to is the Caramel Sutra Frap/blended (get the whipped cream if you can do dairy cause its worth it.) but it's also good hot. I like to get a few extra shots of espresso added. Second choice is a chai, cold, with extra chai. They are also one of the few coffee places that actually have goodies for #glutenfree folks and they also have almond milk for those with dairy and soy allergies.

I have had their gf red velvet cupcakes and gf banana bread muffins and the kids have had tons more wheat based options. They also have monthly drinks to choose from which are made from the workers. I love seeing the huge amount of choice as you get more than the green mermaid has to offer. Plus you actually get to support a locally owned shop.

Also, my favorite is they email receipts instead of handing you paper to deal woth and waste. Yay for helping me track business meeting expenses with my Google...

After reading the reviews, my husband and I decided to give this place a try. Since his retirement, one of our favorite things to do is explore local coffee shops, so we have been to many of them. The shop is a bit of the beaten path, but when we walked in I was pleasantly surprised with how cozy and inviting the shop was. We were greeted very warmly and I immediately felt at ease with the friendly welcome. We ordered off the seasonal menu. A pumpkin spice latte for me and a apple chai for my husband. I was disappointed our coffees came in styrofoam cups. I would have preferred a ceramic mug. It just adds to the experience and the environment. My latte was just ok. However, my husband’s drink was so scalding hot, that he burnt his mouth quite badly. Overall I think the place is super cute and the service was friendly. Just not the best...

First of all, this place has the most wonderful lattes. I always get something different, and the staff is great about helping you decide what to try. Secondly, they probably recognize that I always ask for "hot but kid's temperature" or a lower temperature, as my teeth are extremely sensitive to super hot or cold things and it can be quite painful. If I ask about this at most shops, the staff gets annoyed or forgets, and I feel like a burden. This place does NOT make me feel like a burden, and they usually remember to serve it warm (not hot), and this puts them at the top of my list for recommendations. THANK YOU for this!!
