I just returned from a Midwest trip with my boyfriend and my stay here was a highlight of the entire trip! Due to a flight delay we arrived a day later than expected yet the modification was handled seamlessly when I notified the hotel of change in arrival. I loved the fact that the location was so close to the airport and shuttle service. Upon entering we were greeted by the biggest and warmest smile from Lyle. This front desk agent reminded me of being back home in GA with her hospitality! When I told her it was our first time visiting Milwaukee and that we loved brunch she not only recommended but showed me pictures of this awesome brunch venue that we would enjoy the next morning. Being that we wanted desert and drinks by the time we arrived Lyle recommended the onsite restaurant and suggested we ask for the secret menu once there. That suggestion lead us to meeting VASU who was the host as well as bartender. Charm and great customer service are synonymous with this young man. He made us custom drinks which were simply delicious! I enjoyed my desert as well there. Being on vacation we wanted to pack on as much sight seeing as possible and without fail Lyle was the smiling face we would see as we were coming and going. The issue we had with the shower was addressed so promptly that it was like the words had just been said. There was even a part of the trip that she called me in order to ensure that we made the shuttle bus back to the hotel. Her “hey guys” and smile and concern were so genuine. With all the great food I really appreciate her pointing out the location of fitness center and pool which luckily were extremely close to our room! lol calories still count even on vacation. The fitness center was great for staying on a routine even when away from home. The room itself was both decorated well and spacious. The bed was dream worthy and comfortable especially considering that we had driven to Iowa the morning of our arrival, a good nights sleep was priority! In addition to being close to the airport I also loved its proximity to places of interest such as the baseball field! I was greeted by any staff we came in contact with which is always a plus. Yet it was the last day that made it clear that great customer service is a standard at this location. Mind you our departing flight was at 6am. At 4:30 the new front desk agent was just as cheerful and warm as Lyle had been our entire stay! The last agent wished us a safe flight and asked that we review our stay even if it was just to tell them what they could improve on. While I know I was not in the south where southern hospitality is a staple but I want to commend this location on showing Midwest manners and charm! Lyle and the rest of this awesome staff made us feel as if we were regular frequent guests instead of first time tourists. I hope yall continue to create a home away from home experience for both your returning and first time guests. Such a great impression was made that this location will be my only hotel of choice for any return trips to Milwaukee. I hope Lyle is there was again to greet us upon our return! Continue to be an example of what a great stay should entail for guests Crowne Plaza Milwaukee South!

I stayed at this hotel as a member of the bridal party for a friend's wedding. At check-in, you are greeted with friendly staff and a cozy, spacious lobby; the lobby is the most sanitary area of the hotel. You are also given a strong smell of chlorine from the pool area quite a ways away from the front desk area (indicative of sanitation/chemical/filtration issues). I was first given a room on the 5th floor. The key reader on the door was non-functional, so I went back and forth from the 5th floor to the lobby twice to try and gain access. This was unsuccessful, and the front desk associate gave me a new room on the second floor. Upon entry, I noticed that the non-electronic latch lock to the front door was broken, the outlet next to the bed was non-functional, one of the pillows was visibly soiled with accumulated debris (what appeared to be sweat and a brown substance), the furniture in the room was marked with what appeared to be lipstick, the air conditioning unit and floor underneath were soiled with dust and debris, and there appeared to be a brown sticky liquid spilled behind the desk and saturated the floor. I immediately notified the front desk who gave me another room on the 5th floor. Third time seemed to be the charm, and the room appeared to be in a much better condition than the previous one. Upon further inspection, there were used tissues behind the bed, and there was a used wash cloth in the bath tub. I don't know if this is a housekeeping training issue or the franchisee does not allocate enough time to clean each room, but the lack of attention to detail for obvious sanitation observations is a concern. The body soap bottle in the room was also completely empty, and the hair dryer was missing from the room (the bag to hold it was present). I also went to use the gym, and the floors were soiled with accumulated dust and debris. The mats were extremely soiled and did not appear to be cleaned at an adequate frequency. Weights were also missing. There was also a broken ceiling tile above the benches adjacent to the ceiling fire alarm. Finally, I went to the wedding, and provided additional feedback to the manager on my observations and the manager provided me with a full refund for my stay. However, the room was not cleaned, and the refund was the only resolution provided. I arrived back at the hotel at ~11pm, and my key did not work. I was exhausted and had to trek back and forth again to get my keys remade. Overall, the front desk staff and management were courteous and professional and are a gem to this hotel. However, it is disappointing at the lack of attention to detail to whomever is the most responsible person for health and sanitation; the person with the duty, power, and responsibility to correct, detect, and prevent violations of Wisconsin law and administrative rules. I suggest the franchisee invest more into capital improvements and allocate more resources to health and sanitation at this facility. I wholeheartedly do not recommend this hotel.

We stayed a Fri-Sun and I thought this place was great. Clean and comfy room with a cute coffee alcove with a mini-fridge. There was a little sofa and an oddly tall coffee table. The design gave retro vibes, but intentional. The room had that basics - climate controls that kept the space just the right temperature for me, a television, towels, hair dryer, luggage rack, ironing board & iron, hangers in the closet. The soaps were in wall mounted pump bottles - not my favorite, but functional. I liked all the lighting options around the bed, and who doesn’t like a big padded headboard? The room K-cup brewer was clean, and brewed as expected. I wished for a real coffee mug, but the styrofoam option worked. What it lacks is a free breakfast bar we’ve come to expect from other big-name hotel chains. There is a sizable alcove with convenience food available for purchase. The coffee bar in the lobby did not look legit (pastries looked like they were bought in bulk from Walmart and were the kind in clear cello packaging with an expiry date of next year) so I didn’t risk it. Service in the restaurant at evening time was not fast, but friendly. The bar does not have lots of options, but the barkeep was helpful, giving me a suggestion of a cocktail they knew how to make. Seeing only a single employee in the establishment, we got something simple - breadsticks with bar cheese (when in WI!). It was good. I don’t believe there was kitchen staff. The bartender did everything. Be careful upon entering the lobby from outside not to trip on the entryway carpeting-every time we entered it was a tripping hazard-bunched up, folded up, and unkempt. I straightened it each time and was kind of surprised the desk clerks just watched me do it - making no comment, no offer to assist or assurance to have maintenance solve the problem. Speaking of maintenance, we had a shower door issue, and maintenance personnel came to our room and solved it pretty quickly. Nice maintenance personnel. A few design choices I would change if it was my own home: add some towel bars in the bathroom, drawers at the desk, and I found the mirror hanging freely from straps disorienting when it moved and swung about, so I would secure it to keep it still.

Comfortable, clean, convenient airport hotel. My colleagues and I spent a short time at this location. Our business and flight schedule requiring accommodations near the airport. Due to our brief visit, my observation and experience with the hotel's amenities is limited. This is not a new property. The hotel has been remodeled, rehabbed and rebranded to a Crown Plaza. The hotel facilities appeared to be from several decades ago and most likely was built under a different brand ( my guess would be a Holiday Inn??) However, the hotel is clean and well maintained. The lobby and common guest areas have been remodeled and refurbished, giving a very pleasant welcoming experience. My guestroom was average size hotel room. It was clean, comfortable and quiet. My room included two double beds, large flat screen TV and mini-fridge. In my opinion, the bathroom needs attention and serious upgrades. Although I believe it was completely clean, the age of the bathroom fixtures and features gave me not the most pleasant experience. In addition, I would have appreciated much hotter water for my shower and shave. The hotel has a restaurant, but I didn't have a chance to dine. The hotel has a very nice gift shop adjacent the lobby and front desk. I didn't make a purchase, but I did visit and look around. It was well stocked and had a nice selection of food, beverage and toiletries. The check in and departure process was very pleasant and efficient. Both the evening and morning front desk staff was wonderful. Very friendly, polite and professional. The hotel provides a complimentary airport service. Departing the hotel early morning went perfect; shuttle on-time and very pleasant, safe ride with an excellent driver. The only issue my colleagues and I experienced with the shuttle was on arrival at Milwaukee. Upon our flight arrival we called the hotel for pickup. Unfortunately, it took approximately 35 - 40 minutes for the shuttle to arrive. Ordinarily, this is just a small inconvenience issue. However, waiting outside in winter temperatures hovering around 10 degrees and ice/snow on the ground, it was quite uncomfortable (especially for me, being a Florida resident!) Once the shuttle arrived the driver never offered any explanation for the delay. The drive is only about 10 minutes, but seemed an eternity as the evening driver was driving very fast in winter conditions and playing very loud music. In conclusion, this hotel is perfect for short-term stays, especially if you need accommodations near General Mitchell...
