This comfort has been good, it's nice and clean. I don't know how old it is, but it does look fairly new. But I wouldn't be surprised if it's not, and it's just well taken care of.
I've had a couple of issues, but with staff members. I always keep the dnd on my door. On my day off from work (luckily...I just don't like anyone in my room when I'm not there), housekeeping knocks once and then tries to open the door. I had the security latch engaged so she could not open it. I open the door and the lady had walked away from my door, which is a bit strange, but I didn't see anyone and I said "hello?" She came back to my door and asked do I need service. I look at my doorknob to check if my dnd is still there, yes it was. Before I could answer her, she said "I knocked." I told her I don't need anything and I have the dnd on my door. She didn't apologize or say anything else. She just walked away. It was very strange.
This was not the end of this situation. I should also add I was sleeping. I work odd hours so I sleep odd hours. So I go back to bed and not even 5 minutes later I hear a quick double knock, which I fly out of bed at this point, and now I'm upset. As I reach for the security latch the door opens but is stopped by the latch, and where I was about to put my fingers to open it. I mean they don't even wait a second, my fingers were almost smashed in between the door and the latch!
When I open the door it's a different housekeeper. I tell her look another lady just came to the door, I have the dnd up and I'm trying to sleep. Then as this lady is trying to speak to me I realize she doesn't speak English. Great. "Service, yes? No? Towel?" She's probably wondering why I'm so annoyed, but again I HAVE THE DND ON MY DOOR. She left and that was that, but I got no explanation nor apology. It was pretty ridiculous. (Update: 2 days in a row they did this to me!)
So are they just going into peoples rooms when they think they're not there? I don't like anyone in my room when I'm not there. I've had things stolen, not here, but it's possible anywhere. They knock and then immediately open the door. No kind of wait or pause after knocking, they immediately open the door. You don't do that, first off.
As far as front desk staff, the young woman that works the overnight shift is excellent. She is so friendly and helpful. There was one morning she had to also take care of breakfast because that staff member called in. She didn't complain at all. She even told another guest, "That's ok, i got this." I travel for work, I stay in hotels 48 weeks out of the year. She is a rarity, definitely a keeper.
The guy that works the evenings is nice as well, but he needs more training. There are a few things he didn't know how to do, but the most important one that could have interrupted my stay should be immediately addressed.
I had 3 reservations in a row. My third was booked for a double queen, but I needed it changed to a king so I would not have to change rooms. I asked the guy to change it. He said when I check back in I will be put in the same room. I explained I'm not booked for a king, and if the kings are sold out, I will lose my room. He said "your in-house, you're already in that room, you can't lose it." I asked "are you saying if the kings are sold out, you're going to give me someone else's reserved room?" He said no, and told me I did not understand. But the funny thing is, HE was the one that did not understand.
Anyhow, I asked the woman that works overnights to change my room type and she did. She even said the kings have been selling out, but luckily she was able to switch me. I would've been upset if I listened to him, only to be told I had to change rooms when I'm checking back in for that reservation.
There were a few other things, the guy that never has his dog on a leash. The homeless couple hanging out by the dumpster nightly. Both turned out harmless, but you never know. So all in all, I would stay here again, but I hope mgmt addresses these concerns...
Read moreDO NOT STAY HERE save your time and money. To begin with: the rooms are absolutely disgusting (and the whole property is too it’s hard to believe how they’ve neglected this new property). When I walked into the room it literally smelled like POOP and sweat absolutely disgusting. The carpets literally have poop and vomit stains (see photos)(this is a hazard to both human health and to pet health) and the floors are so sticky our shoes would get stuck to it (I didn’t dare take off my sandals) the walls are completely scratched up. We found a creamer wrapper on the floor and other trash from the people who stayed there prior. Our pillows had stains on them and the sheets had a nasty yellowing to it and all smelled disgusting and also had blood stains and other stains. It was so gross I had to sleep on top of my beach towel and use another towel as my blanket for the night we were forced to stay there. found 2 dead roaches in the bathroom and there are probably mold issues in this hotel. + horrible wifi and tv didn’t didn’t work in our room. Overall just filthy inside the rooms and outside. (and some suspicious activities including people randomly in the stairwell). PET POLICY; they tried to tell me I could not leave my dog in the room (which I paid a pet fee for under 25lbs) because she barked while we were gone for two hours during the day (mind I didn’t sign a pet policy and their visible pet policy on the Web only states a weight and amount maximum) at checkout manager said I was lucky I didn’t get a damage charge MIND again there is no pet policy and my dog did not damage anything if anything WE suffered damages having to stay in that disgusting room (literally had to use my beach towels as a blanket and place them on the bed) We were then told the dog could not stay in the room without us (mind we have traveled many times with our dog and never had any issues with any hotel she is well traveled and there is NO policy they could show me that stated that). And if that is there policy they would have provided the document for me to sign and this policy should be CLEARLY on their website. Their solution to our complaint on lack of cleanliness was that they refused to move us rooms and told us we either had to leave the next day or if we stayed the dog could not stay in the room (extreme hostility). I asked if we could leave that night and they refused to refund us for night #1. Do not stay in this mess of a hotel who is clearly NOT pet friendly and honestly a health hazard to you and your pets. Management is SUPER unprofessional and was extremely defensive/aggressive when I confronted them on why they did not switch us out of a room and that the room was dirty when I told her that was a health hazard and threatened to have me removed from...
Read moreWe visit Destin a few times a year, and while we have stayed at other hotels during prior visits, and this one before as well, we’ve decided that we will always choose this one as our 1st option from here on out. ||Upon check in, the room we received did not have working AC, I believe it was just as simple as the batteries needed changed in the thermostat - Hey, it happens! However when we alerted the front desk, they immediately placed us in another room, no questions asked! While this seems like a minor issue to some, this was a big deal for us! Our very previous visit to a choice hotel, in another state, we experienced an AC issue and was made to wait outside in the 90° heat while they called maintenance men to attempt to fix, 3 hours later, we were finally placed into a new room. So the fact that we were immediately moved and not inconvenienced, was wonderful! ||The room was very clean and tidy upon arrival! Housekeeping was prompt, and was always on schedule when we requested in during our 7 day stay! Rooms were always clean and towels, soaps, etc restocked, as well as floors cleaned and vacuumed! And let’s face it - when you have children AND sand in the same vacation, it gets messy, this was much appreciated! ||Breakfast had several options - hot foods, cold options, toast, bagels, fruit and cereal as well. The staff worked diligently to keep everything stocked and available. ||Lobby area and parking lots are clean and well lit. The hotel is less than a 5 minute drive to the beach, and close to shopping, food, etc!||Staff was always friendly and available! Regardless of the time of day or night. ||We are Platinum choice reward members, and the first part of our stay was a reservation made with our reward points, to cash in for multiple free nights! (If you’re not a choice member, you are missing out on a lot of good deals - sign up!). During the second part of our stay, we experienced a hiccup with our reservation, the General Manager, Donna, was amazing! She immediately told us not to be concerned, and assured us that she would fix the issue and take care of us, and boy did Mrs Donna deliver! She did exactly what she promised, and our stay went uninterrupted |with zero issues, zero concerns. Now, THIS is hospitality! ||Mrs Donna and her team will make sure your experience here is everything you expect it to be, and the location and price of this hotel can’t be beat! Donna has earned our business, and we will be permanent customers of this hotel from now on, anytime we...
