We have eaten at this location of the Aegean Greek Restaurant since it opened a few years ago.
There have been a few "ups and downs". But, in the last two years or so of eating here, we have been very pleased.
For a while, it seemed like there was a "crazy salt shaker" in the kitchen. Everything had way too much salt. The quality of the food was good but much of it tasted the same because of the high salt content. It was particularly noticeable in the marinara and tomato sauce.
That has not been a problem recently. The food was very good, the prices are very reasonable for a heavy tourist area, and it was a pleasant experience.
The shrimp gyro sandwich is a good bet. It is a large sandwich for about $12 and includes french fries or a side vegetable. It is a dish I order frequently here and have never been disappointed.
The chicken souvlaki is also very good. There is a lunch menu that has reduced prices (and reduced portions) that is a good deal.
I have also had occasion to enjoy the lamb with the Greek potatoes. The lettuce in the Greek salad is not my favorite type of lettuce as I prefer the lighter color that is very crisp rather than the darker green lettuce. That is a minor point but comes from having eaten here so many times and taking the time to compare to other favorites in the area.
Another favorite is the Greek chicken with potatoes. The flavor is outstanding. It is actually 1/2 of a chicken and the potato serving is a healthy one. This is for sharing a meal or for someone with a big appetite.
There are frequently large family groups here. That makes sense as there are large tables and the prices are generally better than many other restaurants in the area that are not fast food operations.
There is also a wine list for those who like a glass or bottle with their meal.
I usually have the baklava for dessert. It has always been very good. One serving is enough for two in most instances.
Parking is right outside...

However, the service left much to be desired. It was super slow(!!!). They didn’t follow up with us much (at most twice) during our dine. It took them quite a while to take our orders. After placing our orders we waited another a while before our plates were brought to our table. There’s no complimentary pita bread basket or anything like it, which is unusual for a Mediterranean restaurant. Mind you there were only two other tables that had guests besides us at the time of our visit. So it wasn’t even that busy at all. And the bar was dead empty. Not sure what was their excuse to take so long to take our orders in and prepare them.
My second gripe is about their price-to-portion ratio. I believe for what you get in return their prices are on the high side by some margin. Their plates are shallow and the two small skewers of few beef cubes shouldn’t dictate $23(!) in my opinion. And the side rice was not even warm. The way I see it, they put the side rice on the plates first and let them chill outside until the souvlakis were done. While I understand this method when kitchen staff is busy preparing dozens of other dishes but the floor was not busy at all at that time to make any legitimate excuse of that sort. I worked in food industry for many years and I know how exactly kitchen staff operates any given time depending on the level of busyness of the main floor. Thus, in my personal opinion the kitchen staff must’ve been feeling quite lazy during that time.
In the end, overall impressions were not positive. I do not believe we will be returning here again, unfortunately. We really wanted to like this place because we love Mediterranean cuisine (Italian, Turkish, Greek foods) but this restaurant just did NOT meet our...
Read moreSo my wife and I are here on vacation from Texas for a week. We were on the beach and an older man named George was out there swimming by himself and struck up conversation with us. He had an accident and we think he was possibly Greek. He was very friendly and we asked him good places to eat. This restaurant was one he recommended so we gave it a try last night.
Let me tell you with all confidence this is one of THE BEST meals we have ever had in our life! Not lying not even somewhat exaggerating. This is in my top 5 favorite, delicious, quality meals I have had in my almost 40 years of life. Absolutely amazing! We started with the hummus as an appetizer and it was the best hummus in the world.
We ordered feast after that lol. We got the spaghetti and meatballs, chick alfredo, and the gyro. I can’t even explain to you the quality. It was like everything was actually made from scratch. I wanted to shake the chefs hand. Something you just don’t get now-a-days.
We have ate at several tourist trap places while we were here and some were ok but most were overpriced hype. Aegean was the real deal! You never get quality service anywhere with fresh food with a smile! The server even went and found me a medium shirt when she thought they were out.
I’m flabbergasted at how quality this restaurant was. I eat at places all over in different cities and never have a meal like this. Absolutely go get some amazing food from this establishment. Also at a very reasonable price. I’m telling you it’s a rare gem. We will be going back before we leave! Thank you so much for...
