We have eaten at this location of the Aegean Greek Restaurant since it opened a few years ago. There have been a few "ups and downs". But, in the last two years or so of eating here, we have been very pleased. For a while, it seemed like there was a "crazy salt shaker" in the kitchen. Everything had way too much salt. The quality of the food was good but much of it tasted the same because of the high salt content. It was particularly noticeable in the marinara and tomato sauce. That has not been a problem recently. The food was very good, the prices are very reasonable for a heavy tourist area, and it was a pleasant experience. The shrimp gyro sandwich is a good bet. It is a large sandwich for about $12 and includes french fries or a side vegetable. It is a dish I order frequently here and have never been disappointed. The chicken souvlaki is also very good. There is a lunch menu that has reduced prices (and reduced portions) that is a good deal. I have also had occasion to enjoy the lamb with the Greek potatoes. The lettuce in the Greek salad is not my favorite type of lettuce as I prefer the lighter color that is very crisp rather than the darker green lettuce. That is a minor point but comes from having eaten here so many times and taking the time to compare to other favorites in the area. Another favorite is the Greek chicken with potatoes. The flavor is outstanding. It is actually 1/2 of a chicken and the potato serving is a healthy one. This is for sharing a meal or for someone with a big appetite. There are frequently large family groups here. That makes sense as there are large tables and the prices are generally better than many other restaurants in the area that are not fast food operations. There is also a wine list for those who like a glass or bottle with their meal. I usually have the baklava for dessert. It has always been very good. One serving is enough for two in most instances. Parking is right outside the restaurant.

I love Greek food. No... Listen to me people... I LOVE Greek food. Whenever my wife & I travel we try to seek out good Greek food. In Destin.... we freaking found it. Now, I can't explain why such badass Greek food would be in the panhandle of Florida, but brothers & sisters of the Greek Food comminty, I can testify that it is indeed the case. Let's start with the Dolmades... The leaves were a little tough, but the joy of life was found inside... But this, my friends is not where the spotlight belongs... Be patient... And go on this journey with me . Next came the Hummus cradled lovingly with an abundance of Pita. That bread could have been hotter for sure, but the Hummus did it's job and stood solid as well. Now prepare yourselves my parishioners not Greek culinary excellence... Then came the chicken skewers .... Heaven became silent... The clouds parted... And the angels wept tears of joy while their frail voices sang in holy union when these reverent pieces of poultry arrived .. The chicken... Sweet baby Jesus... The chicken was surely crafted by Zeus him or herself. Aphrodite struck me with live as I lovingly savored each bite. Tender, flavourful, and with that slight char that reminded me that true food love exists. Thank you Aegean. Thank you for giving me the best damn chicken in the planet Earth. I love you from afar and will sing Psalms of this day in your honor for all of eternity. Long live Aegean ! Home of the best chicken in the universe!!!!!

First of all, let me get the good stuff out of the way. Food was very tasty! Those souvlakis (shish kebabs) were very well seasoned and cooked well as well. No complaints there! However, the service left much to be desired. It was super slow(!!!). They didn’t follow up with us much (at most twice) during our dine. It took them quite a while to take our orders. After placing our orders we waited another a while before our plates were brought to our table. There’s no complimentary pita bread basket or anything like it, which is unusual for a Mediterranean restaurant. Mind you there were only two other tables that had guests besides us at the time of our visit. So it wasn’t even that busy at all. And the bar was dead empty. Not sure what was their excuse to take so long to take our orders in and prepare them. My second gripe is about their price-to-portion ratio. I believe for what you get in return their prices are on the high side by some margin. Their plates are shallow and the two small skewers of few beef cubes shouldn’t dictate $23(!) in my opinion. And the side rice was not even warm. The way I see it, they put the side rice on the plates first and let them chill outside until the souvlakis were done. While I understand this method when kitchen staff is busy preparing dozens of other dishes but the floor was not busy at all at that time to make any legitimate excuse of that sort. I worked in food industry for many years and I know how exactly kitchen staff operates any given time depending on the level of busyness of the main floor. Thus, in my personal opinion the kitchen staff must’ve been feeling quite lazy during that time. In the end, overall impressions were not positive. I do not believe we will be returning here again, unfortunately. We really wanted to like this place because we love Mediterranean cuisine (Italian, Turkish, Greek foods) but this restaurant just did NOT meet our expectations.

Was headed to a local "touristy" burger place and so glad we stopped here. Wife ordered the moussaka and subbed the salad for a cup of avgolemono soup. I got the keftedes lunch special. Delicious. Easy to see why they were voted a "best" here in Destin. The salad that came with the keftedes was light and delicious too. For those who automatically add salt or pepper... don't. It's great as it is. We were there at lunch on New Year's eve and it was quiet and cozy. This place will be on our "looking forward to being back" list. And the prices are very reasonable. FYI... there was just as much or more beef in the meatballs as there would have been on the cheese burger. And nothing was fried. This is good food and good for you. Maybe one day come back with my son and order the Hercules! Once more... still so delicious and generous portions. This time the regular gyro plate with side salad and wife got the moussaka with a side of potatoes. Wow!!

We had a wonderful and interesting lunch today at the Aegean Greek restaurant in Miramar Beach. We tried foods that were new to us. We ordered the Augolemono soup which is a creamy lemon chicken and rice soup which is just beautiful! We will order that next time for sure. We also ordered the Keftedes which are Greek meatballs served with pita bread and tzatziki sauce. They were well seasoned and very good. We also ordered the grilled chicken souvlaki on skewers served with rice and pita bread and tzatziki sauce. We also ordered pastichio. It was kind of like a Greek lasagna. Both items were extremely delicious and we would order both again! All dinners were served with a very lovely Greek lettuce salad dressed with tomato, onion, green pepper, olives, feta cheese and light dressing. The atmosphere is comfortable with great service! Thank you for such a wonderful Mediterranean trip through your delicious cuisine! We will be back!

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed this place. I can’t say it’s 100 percent authentic, but it’s still very good. The prices are fair and the portions are large. Our waitress was nice and friendly, as we chatted with her. Unfortunately they were out of our desert we ordered. We also asked if they had Greek coffee and they did not. I ordered a Greek beer but it turns out it’s made in Pensacola Florida and not Greece!! It was delicious though. I’ve been to Greece and have had plenty of Greek beers, and the Florida beer was much better!! The beers they served us were excellent! The food was very good. I felt my beef could be crispier or warmer but it was still tender and tasty. The rice was very good but isn’t very Greek. The baklava we had was great but very sweet and covered in honey. Overall I we really enjoyed everything here and would come back and recommend to friends or family!
