EDIT So I didn't take my own advice and we stayed here anyway...3 years later. We were traveling on our own and it was convenient to where we wanted to be so we went ahead and gave it a try. We were a bit late so we pulled in about 10 minutes after the office closed. We were met by a gentleman that insisted he meet us at our site to check us in. I backed the RV into our site and sat with the guy for at least 10 minutes with my truck running and my wife and 3 daughters hanging out in it. So many rules (most common sense) but he was hell bent on going through everything so I listened. This would set the tone for the rest of the stay. Calling this place a "resort" is a stretch, it's more like an alley with a dumpster at the end. We didn't spend much time in the "resort" other than to sleep. Clearly all of those rules that Mr. Manager was so proud of were not followed/enforced as we had folks with giant drying racks that we were told were not allowed. Dogs were barking well into the night in a neighboring RV, we had a car park so close to our site, since they had an extra car that we had difficulty leaving. The first night we came back to the site after being out all day, we noticed a strong smell of waste like when you leave the cap off of a sewer connector. It went away during the day but noticed it again the following night. The WiFi was completely broken, we tried to connect a phone and a tablet but ended up just using our data plans. We couldn't even load email. Our second day we were awakened by their landscape crew at around 7:30 am trimming the bushes. My kids were pretty grumpy after waking up so early, and to be honest so was I. Further, if they're so worried about how the place presents that they'll have work done that early then I feel like they should at least mend their broken fences on the backside. There were gaping holes where pickets had broken and just laid on the ground in the gaps. Again, not very "resort" like. We've just booked a return trip to Destin in November at a different RV park and hope to have a better experience there.
This unfortunately was the only place that called me back for a reservation. The nice gentleman kept me on the phone and got all of my info including my credit card number only to inform me that while my 25 foot bumper pull was fine, they would not allow the 17 footer of the couple we would be traveling with. The friendly fella on the phone had no idea why what was the case other than "the HOA said so, and if it was an Airstream then they probably wouldn't measure it." Very snobbish. I'd be happy to change the review if we were allowed to stay there, but truth be told I probably wouldn't even if they called back and...
Read moreI don't post many reviews.. and I wasn't going to post this one until I read others. I feel it is my obligation to warn anyone considering booking here. Brand new to this RV experience and before I bought an RV I wanted to do a test run and rented one from CruiseAmerica. It was a lengthy trip and in total we stayed at 7 resorts. This ONE being the only one that was a huge disappointment. It seems impressive, until you get behind the gates. I was trying to move our RV out of the way so that we could check in when a man comes running at us, screaming "what are you doing" and banging on my window, telling me to stop. Mind you I was backing into a spot JUST to get out of the way, temporarily. I told him I was moving out of the way so that we could check in. He rudely says " we don't accept rentals here" but since you are here and have reservations ... and then proceeded to have me move into the area I was planning to park, temporarily. Then the other "owner' - woman, comes running out yelling the same thing.. we don't accept rentals, but since you are here... We proceed in and she gives me a "packet" of rules. Was very rude and said, just so you know, most rv resorts don't accept rentals... I said we've been to 4 prior to you and haven't had a problem. Very rude, almost screaming things at me and treating me like a second class citizen. Lets not forget the "packet" of rules that comes with check in. We got parked, I didn't even stop the engine and we began looking for a new location. Within minutes we called 2 other resorts and they gladly accepted our rental. I walked the rules packets back to the "owner" and she continued to argue with me about their "policies"... which in fact, are NOT indicated on their website. I've attached the screenshot from that day, from their website. She yelled, argued and then walked off. I sent them their "policy" by email and she still didn't get it ... that they didn't have their policy on their website. Argumentative in the email. To me RVing folks are fun, respectful, genuine people who don't need a packet of rules to live by. But that's me. These people need to chill and enjoy life. Treating people like crap and yelling at them gets you no where.. They are lucky they have a great location. That's about it! OH and yes we paid for the visit that didn't exist. I'm fortunate that I can afford to go to another location and still enjoy my vacation that was so rudely interrupted with...
Read moreIt's a shame people discriminate due to the color of another's skin. When we arrived to check into the condo on the RV site, Lisa's facial expression and attitude changed from our previous phone discussions. Now her attitude was an overly exaggerated friendliness that seemed forced. The next morning after checking in, Lisa and a maintenance guy used her key to come in on us while we were sleeping. Her excuse was she forgot we were in the room, but there are only 2 condos on site. The pool is listed as heated, but it was cold and the weather temperature was in the low 60s when my son got in. That was uncomfortable for him. After checking out, I called Lisa later that afternoon to see why we had not received a checkout email. and she said the room was being cleaned and she would send the deposit release when the cleaners were finished. The next morning I called, and Lisa. She said everything was great, she had just gotten in the office and would be sending the corrected email. After receiving the checkout email I noticed my checkout email did not release the $500 deposit. I called Lisa, and she did not answer. I emailed but she did not respond. Later that afternoon We received another email showing our stay information without the deposit. Attached were pictures of dirty towels that had not been washed and pictures of one pillow slip with an old dye stain that I had already noticed was on the pillow slip when we checked in. I called right after asking Lisa why she sent pictures of dirty towels and pliiow slips that had not been washed. She said the cleaner guy was working on the stains and she would let me know when he was finished to discuss releasing the deposit. That morning she had already stated that everything was good, and she would release our deposit. This is discrimination! She has not responded since to give us an update or released deposit funds back to our...
