Visited Winn Dixie several times while on vacation in Destin, FL. This was the closest grocery store to our condo, Majestic Sun. Considering traffic is an absolute nightmare in Destin we didn't want to venture out any further to Walmart or another establishment. I did have a couple complaints & had traffic not been so bad would have definitely gone elsewhere. First complaint, is that every time I went they were out of a lot of staple items. I'm talking about milk, butter, ramen noodles (chicken flavor specifically), Tostinos Triple Cheese Pizzas, etc. This may be due to everyone going to Winn Dixie because the traffic was so bad you couldn't really get anywhere else in a timely manner. Seeing as the traffic issue is not something new maybe they should be ordering more during peak season? I don't know, just a thought. Second complaint, is that we were celebrating my youngest daughter's 11th birthday so I went in one afternoon to order a cake. After viewing their cake selection book & picking a cake I had to search for an employee to take my order. The employee was either new or didn't know what she was doing because she couldn't answer any of my simple questions. She simply handed me the form & told me to fill it out. After filling out the form & handing it back to her I was approached by another employee telling me they may not have the design my daughter chose. I had to go back to the bakery so they could search their computer to see if they had the design. I don't feel they should advertise a design if they don't normally carry it. It ended up taking 2 bakery employees & a manager to get into the computer to find the design. They did have the design & I was to pick the cake up at 4pm the next day. I arrived the next day around 5pm to pick up the cake & once again had to search for a bakery employee to assist me. She went to get the cake only to come back & tell me they didn't have it. She asked who had taken my order the day before so I had to explain the situation to her. She called a manager, who took a good 15 minutes to come over to the bakery to look for my cake. After a total of 35 minutes waiting my cake was found. I was told it was in a different cooler than cakes are normally put in. No apology was offered for my wait or trouble either time. As a former manager of Publix, that is not good customer service at all. I wasn't looking for anything free or discounted but just a simple apology would have been nice. I will say the cashiers up front were very nice & helpful each time I was there. Overall I'd say if you can get to another store in a timely manner do it. Walmart was only 6.6 miles from our condo but due to construction & traffic would have taken close to an hour to get to according to GPS. Chances are Winn Dixie isn't going to have several of the items you need & if you need assistance in one of the departments you will probably be waiting for...
Read moreTo my Winn Dixie family at Store 0510. I am leaving with a wealth of knowledge I will always treasure. Working here has been a fantastic learning experience, and I am thankful for the skills I've acquired. I feel as if being here with you all each day has made me a more complete and well-rounded person. I've learned how to take direction, criticism, and compliments. These are three things I wasn't so great at taking before, and now I feel as though I can apply that in many different situations. I've also learned to be open-minded, to value other people's opinions and to consider other ideas along with mine, to end up with great final results. Being part of a team has taught me skills that I can use in more than just the professional areas of my life. My relationships on a personal level are in a better place than they were, thanks to some of the things I’ve learned from many of you. I’ve come to realize that being a part of a community is more than sharing credit. A team effort takes compromise. When you are on a team you have to at times lead, follow, and more often than not, meet in the middle. My wish for everyone here is that you all continue to experience success, to feel fulfilled in all you do, and to have nothing but pleasant results. While that may be an overly optimistic wish, it is sincere. There is a bigger picture, bigger then what we see. The success of a business starts with each one of us. It's been a pleasure working here, and I will genuinely miss it. I take with me fond memories, valuable skills, and I hope to one day leave an impression on others similar to the one you have left on me. Never forget that alone we can do little; together we can much, as we move forward together, then success takes care of itself. There are times during the seasons when I would think of this place as the kitchen sink race, because everything is thrown at our team, I am proud of our team and the statement we make. Thank you team for all you do... Finally in the words of our leadership here, CAN I HAVE A SENSE OF URGENCY ON THE FRONT END!!! Much love...
Read moreThis Winn-Dixie location is conveniently located just off of highway 98 in Miramar Beach.
I go here frequently, in part because of the location. The store is also a focal point for many visitors to the beach area. It is convenient to many condos along Scenic Gulf Drive and elsewhere. Families often shop here as soon as they arrive to stock up for their stay at the beach.
As a result, there are times when the stock on the shelves is low. In my last visit, the dairy area had not been restocked and some of the shelves looked like a grocery at the start of the COVID pandemic when shoppers were cleaning out stores of toilet paper, paper towels and disinfectant spray.
Most of the store had been restocked and the selections were plentiful. It takes time to restock and for deliveries to arrive after a very busy weekend so hard for the store to keep everything in place.
There are good selections of merchandise. The meat selection is excellent, the produce always looks good and fresh and the bakery and deli areas are impressive.
This Winn Dixie is a good place to shop. During the heavy tourist season, getting there early or during off hours may be...
