I arrived at the Inn last sunday, check in was fast and easy, the staff was wonderful and helpful.|The Inn is a mix of the Victorian home has 2 rooms and then about 75 rooms right next door that was a previous Hotel. The building is tri level with parking underneath in basement, giving easy access to main check in and to elevators to all 3 floors, the hotel is all ADA equipped both in elevators as well as halls and dining area. All the rooms in Hotel part have been remodeled in a boutique style featuring a great Bathroom layout, with double sinks , one in lavatory/shower and one in makeup/ dressing area. The Bed was extreemly comfortable for me, and I usually have a tough time with hotel beds, I brought my own pillow but didnt need it as there are ample quality pillows provided. My room had a gas fireplace and I believe I read thats included in every room. There is a small patio outside a set of sliding doors where you overlook a common garden area. There is a large TV in each room that has a good variety of channels but also has the ability to merge your device with it and stream your own content. The room had a small fridge in dresser and Safe in closet, with ample room for your clothing and dresses. Lighting in the room was very good and there is a privacy curtain on the sliders if your not a early riser. The breakfast was ample with some kind of rotating menu I think it could be expanded a bit but the quality was good and IM sure would be about 40 bucks at any of the local restaurants. there is the common dining are in the main building or you may take your food back to your room. In the afternoon they have a wine and cheese hour, I think they could make it a great one by adding some cookies, grapes or snacks but the cheese was excellent and while I dont drink wine the guest told me it was good as well. The staff again is very attentive. |Foam street is two streets up from the main Cannery row, so a walk to Chart house which is wonderful and El torietos which I dont recommend is 2 blocks down. you can easily walk to the Aquarium and Giridelly chocolate, as well as Gumps and the Fish Hopper ( best clam chowder on the row.|walking running or biking is right down one street on a nice no car breezeway that runs the length of the row.|Pets are allowed with some addition charge I was told, and their names go on a little white board for their stay and snacks are available for them as well.|So why not a 5 star? I think the meal and the afternoon wine and cheese could easily be improved a bit, and the fact you have no view of the ocean and as far as I could tell now sound of the surf crashing.|Why I really did like this place? in the price range per night I thought it was excellent, considering a breakfast and the afternoon snack. and I liked it enough to say I may make this my go to place when I'm in the area. I like walking so its got a very nice central location, the staff was great from check in to check out. I noticed someone mentioned bugs? I always check for this as soon as I get in a room and I saw 0 evidence of this and no bites or welts to suggest this.| Unless your willing to pay a couple hundred a night more for a Inn in Pacific grove or one of the 5 star hotels on the surf I think you will like this place and Im looking forward...
Read moreDid not have a good experience here. I asked if I could check in early and they told me they would call back and never received a call back. I went in and checked in at 3:45 p.m. and as soon as I opened the door to my room, it had a strong urine smell. I contacted front desk and let them know the room smelled like urine and would like to change rooms and front staff refused to switch rooms. They said they would like to clean up the room first before taking any other actions. I continued to request a different room as it should be clean and ready by my check in time. Front staff refused so I agreed to let them clean it. I thought they were coming in with a carpet cleaner... They sent maintenance who came in with a small bottle of odor neutralizer. Maintenance walked in and smelled the urine and stated that the smell was too strong and the bottle would not be able to eliminate the odor. They stated they would speak with front staff and left. Front desk staff then called my room and said I refused to allow maintenance to clean. I stated they made the decision to leave due to the strong odor and they were aware the bottle would not eliminate the odor and said they would speak with front staff. Front staff argued with me about me not being cooperative and I asked once again for a new room. Front staff said everyone had already checked in and there were no more rooms - all 14 people checking in that day were already checked in. Front staff said they would cancel my reservation and help me find another hotel. I started stressing out because hotels were booked on a Saturday and I had the room for two days. I proceeded to the front desk and WHILE I WAS THERE waiting to cancel my room, people were checking in AFTER me. Front staff starting calling other hotels for availability and were offering me rooms in other hotels at almost triple the cost. I nearly felt like crying but started looking around on my own as front staff was calling other hotels WHILE checking in other guests, I found another hotel and left the property. Do not recommend this place at all. Staff is dishonest and does a terrible job in rectifying a problem. The hotel caters to pets. No big deal, I have pets, but they need a good process for cleaning and sanitizing these rooms. I was assigned room 123 and would recommend that if you get a first floor room, that you prepare yourself for a room with more use and may have stronger odors than a room that is not used for people with pets. I had to find one hotel room for Saturday and one for Sunday and was actually able to get a better bargain, cleaner rooms, and really good staff. Again, I highly recommend that you not make this hotel your first choice not only due to the uncleanliness of the room, but also due to the dishonesty of employees. If they lie about checking people in (which can easily be verified by standing in the lobby) they can lie about cleaning the room which cannot be verified. This hotel also charges for parking - $17 a night and I asked why and again front staff said every hotel in the area charges for parking. Another big lie because my new hotel DID NOT and we were one street closer to Cannery Row. Again - very dishonest staff. Find something more hones, reputable,...
Read moreA Warning Against This Inn: My Disappointing Experience If you're looking for a peaceful family vacation, I strongly advise looking elsewhere. My attempt to support a local business quickly devolved into a highly frustrating and unpleasant experience for me & my family due to significant issues with their service and behavior. Upon making my booking, I called to confirm, and was explicitly told I would have two bedrooms (with two beds each) in addition to the common space. However, upon check-in, they only had a record for one room. To rectify what appeared to be their operations/communication mistake, the evening receptionists, Elena and Chase Bordeau, had to create an entirely new booking for the second room and make several adjustments. This process took over 1.5 hours, and they clearly stated I would not incur any significant additional expenditure after this. I asked for complete documentation of these changes, but was told I would only receive it at checkout but that they would add notes in the system.
However, at checkout, the terms discussed and agreed upon by the night staff were not honored. When I raised this issue, the manager, Alyssa Cullen, dismissed the prior agreements, stating, "it doesn’t matter what they said because I am the one who decides anyway." She then refused my request to review audio-visual footage from the CCTV camera above the desk, which she acknowledged records both video and audio, stating, "I don’t need to do that or share that with you." Not only did she refuse to honor the agreed-upon rate provided at check-in, but she also mentioned she could remove the one discount currently in the system, which would have increased my expenditure even further. Throughout this interaction, she appeared to be very amused by my distress, spoke dismissively to my family members, and when I expressed shock that this can happen in USA, she stated that “this country is not that great anyway” in-front of me & my guests visiting from abroad! I was speechless and just wanted to leave the place because I had enough. Would never come back not even if it’s the last place available in Monterey.. Her behavior, coupled with the lack of resolution for the billing discrepancy, created a deeply unsettling experience that, in my view, ruined my family vacation. Please save yourself the potential trouble and frustration. Consider choosing accommodations where clear communication and customer service are consistently prioritized.
My experience was concerning as my stay involved a series of events that caused distress to me, my family & my guests. I was initially confirmed for accommodations that were not provided at check-in. Despite efforts by evening staff to rectify this, the verbal agreements made regarding pricing were later disregarded by management at checkout. The manager declined to review evidence that could have clarified the situation and, in my experience, adopted a disrespectful and unhelpful demeanor. This pattern of miscommunication, unfulfilled promises, and uncooperative management led to an extremely unsatisfactory and...
