Gold Coast Tattoo and piercing — Local services in Monterey

I would rather give two stars, but the workers were friendly and professional in the beginning. I went in to get two piercings my tongue( first time) and my belly button (I’ve had pierced before) the person who pierced me JC I believe was really Informative at first and told me that my previous belly piercing wasn’t rlly in my navel , and went under my scar from my pervious belly piercing and pierced it incorrectly for my anatomy. This really made me upset bc I know the healing could be affected. The tongue piercing he didn’t even ask to check my anatomy but it seems to be doing ok. After my service he offered me free saline if I left a 5 star review but after leaving the shop and crying on my way home cuz of my messed up belly piercing and the throbbing in my tongue I didn’t get to It. Good thing I didn’t because when I told people what happened I was informed that most people that go to the shop are minors getting tattoos or piercings. Also apparently some of the people there are not licensed and not qualified to do more than ear piercings. I likely won’t be going back and I can only hope my new piercings heal correctly. Called and tried to ask a question about a piercing and they quite rudely interrupted me mid sentence. Not to mention they answered the phone pretty rudely too. I’m glad to hear that others have had good experiences with them, so I hope this kind of treatment is rare!

EDIT: Shortly after posting this, they found me on Instagram and reached out, apologizing and saying a plumber answered the phone, which in itself is pretty unprofessional if their contractors often answer their phone. Anyway they tried bribing me to take the review down by offering $10 in cash OR a 15% discount on a jewelry for a piercing at their sister store in Santa Cruz. I stopped replying for a few days but today they literally texted me three times asking me to delete this review. To be SO real I would be willing to accept a free piercing or at least a better bribe! But I decided their behavior has been incredibly unprofessional and quite sad. We came in to get our nose pierced and had an amazing experience from start to finish. The shop was incredibly clean—everything was sanitized, and the piercer opened all the tools in front of us, which made me feel totally at ease. They explained the whole process, answered my (many) questions, and made sure we’re comfortable the entire time.

The actual piercing was super quick and way less painful than I expected. Placement was perfect, and aftercare instructions were clear and easy to follow. It’s been healing beautifully with no issues.
