Stayed several nights for a family funeral. In the middle of the night on our last night we received a bill for $700 more than we were quoted when we booked the room. Called the front desk, the person working refused to talk to me about it. Went down to the front desk, they refused to look at my bill, the original quote from the booking email, and they wouldn't call their supervisor or do anything. They proceeded to tell me they were going to call the cops on my and have me ejected. Mind you I'm a normal sized lady and this was a bulky 6foot 4inch man. I left the situation as to not get the cops called on me (I'm really unsure as to why they were going to call, apparently not being able to do your job is grounds to call the police) and to try to get some more sleep.
I woke up to an amended, correct bill slipped under my door with note saying they made a mistake. At this point I'm just really upset for being treated so poorly. I go down to the front desk to speak to the supervisor, she proceeds to tell me that the person who checked us in changed our rates and that was the issue. The person working overnights was not aware of that. I proceed to tell her that two employee's mistakes coupled with a family death made for a horrible night for me. She asked me "If I needed a hug" and i looked at her and said "Not from you" and she then proceeded to tell me she can understand why the other staff felt threatened. I'm sorry I don't want a stranger working in a hotel asking to hug me, that's just uncomfortable and weird. At this point three different employees had failed me at Courtyard and I just walked away because obviously nobody working there has any decorum or customer service skills.
I truly believe my husband and I deserve a partial refund after all of this that we had to deal with but I'm not even going to try to fight that fight.
I typically stay at Hiltons but choose to stay at the Courtyard in Moorhead due to location. I thought it would be okay because it's in the Fargo area but I will return to my strict usage of Hilton properties. I travel about twenty nights per year for work and you can never go wrong...
Read moreStaff were all very pleasant and professional. I prefer breakfast to be included, this Marriott does not do that, they want you to pay for breakfast. I prefer to have coffee readily available in the lobby, this Marriott does not have that because they want you to pay for it. I am an early riser. I like to get up and go down to the lobby to read the news (no newspapers available either) while sitting in the lobby drinking coffee or juice. I made coffee in my room but because maid service does not arrive until after your completed stay I had to ask front desk for coffee packs and cups every day. I made coffee in my room and simply left the hotel for the day every morning. I was also disappointed there is a hot tub, but it was not working. Again, I knew it was like this before checking in, not trying to complain, just saying what I did not like. On the reservation I had two requests, and I know they are only requests, an early check in between noon and 1 pm and a room on the upper floor. When I arrived to check in at 1 pm the desk clerk told me no requests had been relayed to them. She did have a room available so I could check in and it was on the top floor. Just disappointed, why have a space on your reservations for requests if the information never gets to the actual hotel? I know guests do not come to a hotel to watch tv but when we are in the room we do usually have the tv on. I do not like turning on the tv and every single time I have to adjust the volume (because it resets to the lowest level every time) and go thru a menu just to get to regular tv channels. I understand you offer Netflix if you have a membership, but I could go to Netflix at anytime the tv is on. Why make me choose between Netflix, a Marriott commercial or just tv channels. Also, because the tv remote has no numbers to key in, every time you want to change channels or go to a channel you have to first go back to the guide and page up or down to find the channel you are interested in. I know it is trivial but it made me ask the question, Why? I will definitely consider staying there again the next time I visit the...
Read moreWe stayed at the Courtyard Marriot for a wedding. We booked our rooms on the wedding block. Let me start out by saying the wedding venue was absolutely gorgeous and the food was amazing. This is why I am giving them some good stars, that was all perfect. However, I called a week prior to our stay, just to confirm we had what we wanted. 2 queen/double beds. I was told yes that's what we had you down for, and they where going to call and see if we needed it because they had a hockey tournament also coming to stay and they needed more beds. They saw we only had 1 person registered to our room. I said well there is 4 of us staying. I was never asked when I made the reservations how many people. Fast forward to the Wednesday before the wedding (3 days after I called to confirm) I got a phone call from the Marriott asking if we could get a King bed with a pull out couch instead of our double beds. I said no thank you we would like to keep ours, as we have 4 people staying in our room. That is fine, we will keep you with what you have then. Fast forward again to the day of check in. I'm told I'm sorry ma'am we had to do some switching and you are now getting a King bed with a pull out couch. How does that work? We called and confirmed and told you no we wanted to keep what we had when you asked. Days later you call and ask again and we still decline. Day of check in comes and you do it anyways? I get there was hockey teams. However we had these reservations for along time. The manager did apologise and have us 2 free drink tickets and 2 free breakfasts from the bistro. Mind you we made it very clear there was 4 people in our room. Although I was angry I kind of let it be. However after talking with other wedding guests, who also reserved rooms months ago and finding out this also happened to many of them! This was completely uncalled for. I will not be returning and would not recommend anyone block rooms off at this hotel as you don't get what you ask for no matter how far in...
