Stayed here for a month for work. Where do l begin? At the beginning l guess...check in. System had trouble with credit card. TV wouldn't load guide, could only see hotel info. After about a half hour it loaded. Tried calling front desk but phone wasn't working. Nothing for extended stay is in room. I was at end of hallway and l had to walk to desk to get silverware, pan, hair dryer, coffee cup, dish towels. Included room cleaning is once every two weeks and additional cleaning was a charge. You can bring dirty towels or bedsheets to desk and they will exchange towel for towel! You empty your own trash and they give you trash bags that couldn't be thinner. A couple nights in l turned on the light in bathroom (there is one light), and fan comes on at same time, and fan started squealing really loud. It stopped after a minute or so. A minute is a long time with a loud squealing noise. I had to get dressed in morning by kitchen light because l didn't want to wake up neighbors. So then l turned it on when l got back and let it squeal till it stopped and then left it on for days. But then it started squealing at 4am. Reported it and was told they would try to fix it if possible but since all Stay America's are going to be renovated they wouldn't replace it. Got home and found they disconnected it entirely. Fine. At least it wasn't squealing. About two weeks in my room card stopped working because they thought l had checked out. Many guests are long term, probably on assistance, and were quiet. No problem there. But police did respond to calls a couple times, nothing l heard. And fire dept came once because someone was cooking and it caused smoke. A lot of people leave their doors cracked open so they don't set off detector except doing that makes it more likely fire dept will respond because it sets off hallway detectors. I walked around a lollipop in hallway for days. I don't think the hallway gets vacuumed or cleaned. Thank goodness l have don't have a sense of smell. They do put out some coffee and breakfast bars in morning. When l went to check out early one morning the man putting out coffee was only one there and was not happy l asked for receipt which he was unable to produce. He could get nothing showing how long l was there or total $ paid. I left without it. The bed wasn't bad and l slept well. Jeanne at front desk was only employee who was very helpful and knew what she was doing. She was very pleasant. Others hide in office. My advice...stay elsewhere. Oops, forgot say that shower stream was poor, hard to rinse hair well. Two nights l had no hot water...
Read moreDO NOT STAY here......I was a guest Thu, Oct 20 - Sun, Oct 23, 2022 at the Budd Lake, NJ location @ 71 International Drive South. Friendly staff who tries to accommodate guests, but their ability to influence change is extremely limited. As a three night guest, I was among those whose complete stay is charged to the credit card upon chk-in. Wow, shame on me for not chking that out prior to making my reservation. The 1st room I was assigned, on the 3rd floor, had not been cleaned by housekeeping. Yikes, it was a mess. Are you kidding me, isn't there a system in place to let the front desk know which rooms are cleaned? Front desk Team member apologized and re-assigned me to a room on the 1st floor. Cool, or so I thought. Unfortunately from Fri AM, Oct 21st until chk-out Sun, Oct 23rd, I shared the room with roaches. No, it wasn't a major infestation like in a Sci-Fi movie, but still!!! The few roaches were visible. Since the hotel appeared to be full, other nearby hotels were booked and the location was convenient, I figured I would tough it out. Went to local Walmart and picked up Raid spray. Took care of spraying the room myself, but still had visitors. I advised the front desk on Sat AM about the problem and while the Team member understood my concerns, she didn't offer to make a room adjustment. But did tell me about how ESA works on making sure rooms are bug free, but there are times when these problems are unavoidable. I understand since I'm a former "road warrior" who used to spend a considersble amount of time traveling for business. We came to an agreement on having my room rate adjusted. It was only a 10% reduction. Step in the right direction but 10%? Wow, I spent $362.87 for three nights w/roaches. Lesson learned, I will not be staying at this establishment again nor will I consider other Extended Stay America hotels. The location was very convenient to where I needed to be for the four days, but the property is worn out and again, while the staff tries to help, it appears that the mgmt they rept to limits the amount of discretionary decision making authority the front line...
