I had my husband write up the following review because I was so incredibly disappointed:
We had a wedding block reserved for Oct 7 in addition to reserving shuttle service for that evening. Several guests including my new wife and I found that our rooms were not ready, although we had arrived after our designated check in times. For those that took the shuttle to our venue, they said that the shuttle did not leave on time and they had to inform the desk/shuttle driver that they needed to get going in order to make it to the service on time. The driver seemed surprised by this although the poster/sign up sheet on the front desk had clearly marked the departure times. On one of the shuttle returns, several guests had informed us that the shuttle driver was driving on the wrong side of the road and had to told this by passengers before making the correction.
That evening when my new wife and returned back to our room, there were unruly guests at the front desk picking fights and 5 police cars that arrived shortly thereafter to issue citations.
When my new wife and I got to our room that evening we found that the room had been cleaned and all of our personal items removed (all of our clothes, wallet, purse, etc…). I had reserved a room for the 6th and 7th and was informed that no one would be cleaning/entering the room unless we requested them to do so. When my wife went to the front desk to ask what had happened, she was informed that they had cleaned the room and we would have to wait until the next morning to ask the cleaning staff and manager about our things. When she asked about if we had been checked out, the front desk then confirmed we had been (although our cards to the room still worked and we clearly had reservations for that evening). When explaining to the front desk staff that this was not acceptable, he only then made a call and began bringing our personal items out in bags from a back room. Several guests that evening had advised that they had been locked out of their rooms as well.
Across the board customer service experience was horrendous. We had tried to be a patient as reasonably possible with the staff that evening, but we truly feel that there was lacking accountability and effort at addressing some big mistakes. I was advised that we would not be charged for our second night and although that was a kind gesture the experience and hoops jumped through were just awful. Very...
Read moreTo say we were disappointed is an understatement. We are loyal Marriott elite members and this hotel fell well below Marriott’s normal standards. We utilized our reward points, and unfortunately felt like we wasted them. From check-in we were apathetically greeted by a receptionist. No mention of our elite status and our kind request for any available upgrades were rudely declined. When asked if the decline was due to it being fully booked, he did not even respond to my question. Upon checking the website, I saw that all rooms were available. I’m assuming because we were using points that the worst room was given to us, or the hotel is just a disappointment.
I’m convinced the only decent room is pictured on the website. This seems like a Choice hotel at best that Marriott acquired and half renovated. The hallways smelled smokey and musty and the carpets were riddled with stains. Upon entering the room, the carpet was filthy, the “new” wallpaper peeling, and the furniture was extremely dated. Windows were glued shut, yet the air barely worked leaving the room stuffy and musty. Air conditioning shut off at night leaving us sweating ant night and barely worked during the day. Due to the lack of ventilation, the windows were full of moisture contributing to the dankness.
I would not be so disappointed if I felt like I hadn’t been catfished; however, due to this carrying Marriott’s name, I expected Marriott quality leaving me grossly disappointed.
If you are hoping to stay in the area to indulge in Kringle, see some Frank Lloyd Wright architecture, or anything else, consider staying...
Read moreI normally stay at this hotel when I travel to Racine. This recent stay was a horrible experience and I likely will not stay here anymore. I was told upon checking in that if I wanted room service I would need to let desk know each day I was there (I stayed 3 nights). So first morning I went down to desk before heading out to inform them I wanted my room serviced and fresh towels. The desk agent acknowledged my request. When we returned later at 5 pm, our room was never touched and no fresh towels. I went down to desk to get some only to be told they didn't have any. Having worked a hotel myself in the past, I asked if they could get some from another room perhaps. That guests should be taken care of. I was told the hotel was booked yet not many cars in lot, not many people observed in hotel (hotel has some 200 rooms), no one in pool, and no significant events going on in Racine to warrant being booked. I felt lied to. So I took it upon myself to go to pool and get a few towels from there. They are smaller and thinner but at least something to dry off after shower. So 3 trips to desk and a phone call to desk never yielded any towels. Finally, the final night I went to desk and the agent went in back room and got me some fresh towels. The remote for TV barely worked. You had to really press the buttons hard. Even then, it barely changed channels or took forever. The now free breakfast in restaurant area didn't have much to offer. For a big hotel with a higher cost/stay, I expected more for my money. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. The only thing enjoyable...
