I stayed the last week of June. (2024) Positives: Two minute walk to the beach and 1/2 mile either way from food or drinks and the theme park. Has a lazy river/play area for kids. (Literally spent hours in it) The cheap price I had. (Less than $200 for 3 nights) Quick check in and even quicker to check out. Negatives: Room reaked of smoke and cigarette butts were still in the bathroom trash upon entering the room. When the AC was turned to a colder temp, mildew smell was strong. I developed a headache shortly after arriving and the air felt heavy, so if someone struggles with asthma or breathing, this may not be for you. There was mildew all over the bathroom from water damage, tiles were missing, paint was chipping, the room was severely outdated. The mattress was awful as it was a cheap spring mattress and was stained yellow/brown. First night, I found the biggest roach I've ever seen running into the bathroom. Then upon relaxing on the bed, I felt a bug crawling on my hand and quickly smashed it, revealing blood as seen in the picture. It resembled a small bed bug, although I can't be 100%. When inspecting the mattress, there was minor evidence of bed bug activity on the sheet. The floor was filthy and turned my white socks dark brown. The toilet paper was damp and had green on the top, but that may be from the wrapping. The lazy river and Jacuzzi were gross. I can't tell you how much plastic or hair that got caught in my fingers just for going around the lazy river. Multiple cigarette butts were in the lazy river as people frequently smoked around or in the lazy river. Lighters and other trash was found in the lazy river area. Pictured below is the Jacuzzi. Parking was such a pain as the lot by the office is so small and constantly packed. The over flo parking lot passes the Clypsso Hotel which was terrifying as people looked to be exchanging drugs in the parking lot. Worst feeling trying to walk to the overflow lot at night with a toddler not knowing if we were going to get jumped or not. Watched two poor girls have to try and deal with a dog fight because they were letting their dog go to the bathroom (on a leash) and the local crackhead hanging out in the bushes let their pitbull go which attacked the two girls pitbull while trying to load up my belongings in the parking lot across from Calypso Hotel 😄 Please believe the negative reviews. I had a very last minute change of plans and was out money, so I had to go cheap and take a gamble. I drove from Indiana to Myrtle Beach.

um... I'm not really even sure where to start. Don't get me wrong my expectations weren't high and if you need somewhere inexpensive and non breed restrictive for dogs this is the place. our room was very large and was great for our dog. there is very little noise heard between rooms which is a big plus especially with dogs. BUT we did have like the stove and whatnot but very little to cook in or with. the vents in the ceiling ALL had massive water droplets continually falling. we were afraid to touch the a/c because it was set very low and the room stayed around 70° we did have the entire end of the building to ourselves because our room was so large. with both a pool and ocean view. the big kicker that threw me was when I opened a cabinet in the bathroom and there was a giant ball of hair Just chillin' 😳 in the cabinet. I'm not big on carpet but with constant water droplets falling in the carpet I can only imagine what is going on in the carpets. We stayed because we didn't really have a choice. it's also not in the best area. we did have to call the police on the second morning because we had a lady who was obviously not in the best state of mind throwing shells at my pregnant daughter on the beach after approaching us and others on the beach at 6 am. I absolutely would not walk by myself anywhere in that area. again. the size of the room amazing it was almost like an old conference room that got turned into a room. the staff was great. very friendly helped out as much as possible. we also didn't have a table in our room we had the chairs in the room but no dining table. šŸ˜• but lots of dining chairs. the area itself evidently has a lot of unhoused people and a lot of drugs. the access to the ocean was easy and looked to be ADA accessible with a ramp and stairs. one if the other issues i saw which has nothing to do with the hotel itself was that the majority of the dog owners did not clean up after their animals. I personally did. The hotel does have some grassy patches in the back of it to let your dog wander and smell and use the restroom but definitely watch out for other poop. cause it's not getting picked up. also had someone throw a cigarette off a balcony and almost hit us. again expectations weren't high. Just a fair warning. and it wasn't all bad.

This is going to be a long review, if you want the gist just look at the photos I'm attaching! When we got to our room we were hit immediately with the smell of cigarette smoke. The light in the bathroom was full of dead flies, the bed spread had two mystery white stains, the kitchenette counter was busted and one of the cabinet doors was hanging off. The carpets were frayed and coming up...overall the appearance in the room was not pleasant. We were traveling with a newborn that can't be around cigarette smoke so I went to the desk to ask if we could be moved to a different room. I was told "all our rooms are smoking rooms but they are all cleaned everyday so I'm not sure why your room would smell". Everyone knows if you smoke somewhere the smell sticks in the fabrics and it's impossible to get out. I asked if a refund would be possible and I was told we'd have to go through priceline since that's who we booked through. That part wasn't an issue but I felt the 2 women at the front desk we dealt with had attitudes and like we were a nuisance. Upon check in we'd been charged additional resort fees and a $10 deposit for room keys. We asked to at least get that much refunded and we're told they couldn't refund anything until they heard from priceline. My fiance was on the phone with priceline and they'd already emailed over whatever document was necessary to the resort but the resort kept saying they didn't have it yet so they couldn't refund us anything so we'd have to come back at a later date. We did go back the last day of our trip and the lady at the counter was much more friendly and nice! She explained the process more clearly and without an attitude! We got the resort fees and card deposit refunded. However that day we were grateful we hadn't stayed there because there were some sketchy people in the parking lot, they were yelling and carrying on and then we witnessed a drug deal, so the location is not great. The view is beautiful since it's right on the beach but just be warned all rooms are smoking rooms and the place is pretty run down and not clean!

I wouldn’t even give this place 1 star but I was forced to so I could write this review.

At check in I was told $94. Then the said it was going to $115 and she didn’t know why that the manager must have changed the prices while she was getting me checked in. Refused to change price back to what I was quoted. I’m just here for one night so didn’t really stress it too much. Went to room and key card didn’t work. Went back downstairs and was told someone would come let me in and fix the issue. Went back upstairs and waited 20 minutes and nobody came. I went back downstairs and waited 15 minutes just to be able to talk to someone. I explained that I had my 83 year old grandmother standing outside waiting to get in. They ended up changing my room stating they had previously had issues with that lock earlier in the day with previous guest. That all worked out good.

I was told I would be able to park on the side where our room is. That was a lie cause that parking lot was full. Not an issue I will park across the street in their other parking lot. Well it was full as well. I go in the office and ask where I’m supposed to park. While standing there waiting some kid about 10 was asking for some toilet paper and was told that she couldn’t get any because she has to get it from house keeping but they won’t be back until in the morning. I spoke up and asked what is she supposed to use to wipe her butt? The front desk clerk said she didn’t know but she couldn’t help her.

She was extremely rude and I was like are you serious. She said what do you want me to do? I said why not try and be accommodating since this is a supposed to be motel. She said well y’all are the ones who choose to stay her. So I informed her that if she would give me a refund that I would be happy to leave this dump. She said why would I give you a refund if you don’t like it you can just leave like I said it’s not my problem you choose this place.

Anyways I asked about my parking issue and was trying to explain that all lots are full. She immediately cuts me off and gets an attitude then shows me this little map showing all of their lots. I said yes they are all full. She then she told me I would have to park on one of their other properties. I ended parking about a 15-20 minute walk away. While parking I seen an elderly man putting an elderly lady in a wheelchair and he had to push her all the way down the street and across the street to the property as I was walking behind them trying to carrying all of my stuff.

If you are even considering this place I would run for the hills. Oh and let’s not forget that we didn’t have any washcloths in the room.
