I recently visited I Love NHop, National House of Pancakes in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on Thursday, March 20 and unfortunately, my experience left a lot to be undesired. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly hostess who asked if we had a coupon, but her thick accent made it hard to understand what she was saying. After some clarification, I learned she was asking about a coupon. At that point, I thought I’d search for one while sitting down, but when the waitress came over, I mentioned I had a coupon. Her response was dismissive, stating that I should have informed them beforehand, which was confusing since I was under the impression coupons were welcomed.
Despite the awkward start, we decided to stay and take a look at the menu. Honestly, the prices immediately gave us a sense of unease. Basic breakfast items were priced well above what you’d typically pay at a restaurant, and it quickly became apparent that this place was overpriced.
I ordered French toast with vanilla drizzle, blueberries, scrambled eggs, and bacon. I was disappointed to find out they wouldn't allow me to substitute the pork bacon for turkey sausage or chicken sausage. My fiancé, who ordered pancakes with strawberries and vanilla drizzle, was given strawberry cream cheese instead, which was not what he asked for.
As we dug into our food, we were both unimpressed. My French toast was overly buttered, with no real flavor beyond that, and my eggs tasted artificial—like boxed eggs that had been poorly browned, still wet, and not appetizing. My fiancé's pancakes tasted like they came from a mix, and the flavor was off. The only thing remotely decent was the bacon, but it was incredibly salty.
The prices were absurd for what we received, and we opted out of ordering drinks because they were priced $5 and up for non-alcoholic options, and any alcoholic beverages started at $30. The most frustrating part, however, was learning that one of the restaurant's workers or owners is apparently paying people to leave five-star reviews in exchange for a discount on their bills. It’s clear that the reviews I saw on TikTok were misleading and likely paid for.
This restaurant is definitely a rip-off. The food was not worth the price, and the service was subpar at best. As I was leaving, I even advised a group of young ladies who were there for spring break to avoid it. The food and prices simply don’t match the hype on TikTok. The only redeeming quality was the food presentation, which looked great in pictures, but that’s about it. I will never return, and I strongly recommend others skip this place too unless you just want pictures to post on...
Read moreAlright, so this place is pretty good. However, I do find it hard to recommend due to the high fees. For a family of two, you're easily looking at around $90-100. Honestly, you could head over to the Waffle House not too far from here and get way more bang for your buck. Despite being turned off by the prices, the food wasn't bad at all.
For drinks, I got an Iced Tea. I wasn't too happy paying over $6 since the cup size was too small for my liking, but it was probably the freshest iced tea I've ever had. Not only was it refreshing, but it also had a satisfying consistency that balanced the sweetness of the sugar and sourness of the lemon, which I really liked. Next was the main event, the entrees. I chose the Nutella Pancakes with their home fries. The Nutella Pancakes were pretty good. Nice fresh fruit on the pancake, as you can see from the picture, and the pancakes were fluffy. Though two things hold it back: 1) This entree alone is $30, which felt excessive given the portion size, as you only get 3 pancakes stacked on top. 2) The Nutella was a bit too much in some bites, overpowering the other toppings rather than complementing them. But when it works, it really works. Next were the home fries, and they were solid. It's not much to write home about, but they were reasonably crispy and got the job done. However, I do feel it was underseasoned, so make sure to use some salt and pepper to improve the flavor a bit. By the time I finished these, I was full and went to sleep as soon as I came back to my hotel room.
The staff also did a good job. I don't recall the waitress's name, but I do remember that she was dark-skinned, if I recall correctly. She was attentive, really friendly, and got along well with both me and my mom. I didn't have much money in cash since I'm a college student, but I gave her $7 as a tip. Plus, she got us seated pretty quickly despite the long line outside. The initial wait time was supposed to be 40 minutes, but we got in earlier than that, which I appreciated. Atmosphere-wise, I think it could be a bit better. Our tables had some coffee pouches that were already used from a previous party, which she got rid of once I got my Iced Tea. Also, the restaurant is quite small, which makes it feel a bit cramped.
Bottom line, this place serves decent food with attentive service, but the high prices and cramped atmosphere do make it hard to fully recommend. If they dock the prices by around $10 and address the slight issues I’ve mentioned, it could easily become a solid go-to spot for everyone. Other than that, it’s a decent spot that's worth a try, especially if you’re in the area and don’t mind...

Just made the trip from Atlanta to Myrtle Beach and I cannot recommend National House of Pancakes enough! From the moment I walked in, the vibes were warm and welcoming. The food is seriously next-level — fresh, scratch-made, and packed with flavor. Pancakes, French toast, eggs benedict with a coastal twist, and a sandwich that stole the show — every bite hit.
The drinks are just as fun as the food — think cute pineapple “cups,” mini prosecco bottles, and playful brunch cocktails that make every sip Instagram-worthy.
Open early, super family-friendly, and just minutes from the oceanfront, it’s perfect for locals or travelers looking for a memorable brunch. Trust me, you’ll be planning your return before you even leave.
