The elegant, historic Towers mansion, on lush grounds with wonderful large oak trees and statuary, is truly a grand-sized jewelry box—an elegant, fascinating historically-significant container for the massive collection of decorative arts within its draped rooms and halls. As a historian, I have very broad interests in art and literature, especially in architecture and decorative arts, and I call myself a collector. The collection amassed at The Towers is well beyond what I could achieve in a lifetime, and in its areas of interest, well beyond what you will find in any museum. Indeed, given my knowledge of museums and the number of unique pieces I saw at The Towers, I can say that you could not see anything like this collection anywhere else. The unique jewelry, period glassware, china and silver, and costumes and accessories, from beaded purses to horse watch fobs, are remarkable, selected not only for their beauty but for their historical significance and presented in situ, not behind museum cases. Be ready for a long, informative, never boring tour, and be ready to wish you could stay longer and hear more. There is no other tour in the South like this one. My wife and I wanted to tour the Towers Home in Natchez, mainly because it was so different than most homes available for visit! Well what we found was a Gem of a home but also an Outstanding Visit! The owner is quite a remarkable woman with so many interests and remarkable items for viewing. The tour was close to 2 hours and the host kept us interested and amazed the entire time! In addition to being the daughter of the man who discovered “radar technology” and who went on to Run Hughes Aircraft ( her father); she has become an expert in so many interesting areas! She knows Horses, large outdoor Animal bronze outdoor sculptures, ( quite a number on the over 5 Acre sight of th home, ink wells ( antique and rare, of course, glass wear, bead purses ( both beautiful and Rare), antique ink writing implements. And you can go on and on! quite an Impressive expert eager to share her experiences and tremendous knowledge. We were just Blown Away! Truly a planned visit will be well worth your time! The only problem is it is impossible to imagine any one individual with such a vast knowledge of so much! Truly quite a RE||MARAKABLE individual!
