My husband and I stayed at in Sophie’s Gasthaus this weekend in the Hayloft suite. We truly did not want to leave!!! The entire property is just breathtaking and so incredibly relaxing. The main house is decorated so beautifully with such classy decor. Every detail is is tended to, including the light switches. Even though we did not stay in the main house, we enjoyed the continental breakfast and coffee there one morning and met some great people in the living area. ||||The suite is over the carriage house and has a full kitchen, bathroom, living, bedroom and dining area, and its own fireplace. The walls and ceiling are painted a deep dark color which is why I think it was so relaxing, just minimal stimulation!!||||The bed. I’m very particular about beds and pillows when I stay places in this one was probably one of the best! Multiple options for pillows so if you want it soft or more firm, they’ve got you covered. The bed itself was very comfortable and the down duvet was so incredibly cozy on the very cold nights that we stayed!! It was heavenly!!!||||The kitchen had all that we would need and we made breakfast our second morning there. There’s a large dining space on the front patio that is private to the Hayloft, it was too cold for us on our stay, but look forward to it next time. The treats they provide for a super special treat as well. We were celebrating our birthdays and anniversaries and we had a hand written card and bouquet of flowers waiting for us!!||||The bathtub was a huge soaking tub, and the bathroom was just as aesthetically pleasing as everything else. I’m so glad they even thought about a soft closing lid for the toilet. ||||The grounds were very well manicured and can’t wait to use the pool and hot tub one of warms up. Downstairs in the carriage house is a huge game room that my kids are going to love so much when we bring them along in the future. It’s open for all guests, not unique to the Hayloft. ||||I had no clue that New Braunfels had such a special downtown, lots of great restaurants and close to so many things. We visited Gruene one afternoon, which was only about a seven minute drive away. We had lunch at Cooper’s barbecue and it was incredible. Not a big pork chop person, but their pork chop was probably the best I’ve ever had and it was so incredibly tender and juicy. We saved it for our breakfast tacos the next day! Kelly, Sophie’s Gasthaus estate manager, recommended McAdoo’s for our special celebratory dinner. It did not disappoint either!!||||Can’t wait for our next visit to Sophie’s - considering getting a group of friends together to book the...

As many parents have said in the past, “ I need a vacation from my vacation”, that’s exactly what we did. We were searching the internet and stumbled upon Sophie’s Gausthaus. Before making the reservation we had a few questions about the amenities. He called and talked to Amanda who manages the property. She gave him so many amazing ideas for what we should do during our stay. They talked for about 20 minutes and he told me it was like talking to an old friend, that’s one of the things that sealed the deal of us booking Sophie’s. Fast forward a month and we arrive, from the moment we walked in we felt like we were at home. The front room/sitting area took our breath away. It felt like home “without the children”. Haha! The decor is stunning and we loved everything. From enjoying the sanctuary of our cozy room to relaxing by the pool or waking to enjoy a lovely breakfast which is very thoughtfully put together, you are sure to appreciate the attention to detail that this boutique hotel provides. The carriage house provides everything you would need to spend a day relaxing by the pool complete with floats, towels, a bathroom with a spacious shower and even sunblock. If the weather doesn’t allow for pool time there is an array of games to occupy your time. You can play a game of ping pong, try your hand at darts or choose from a variety of board games that are provided. I can’t recall how many times we both said “I love this place, I can’t wait to come back!” The room was impeccable and every attention to detail was crafted for the guests. This was not just some “hotel experience” this was an experience that made you feel welcomed, and at ease, and excited to come back and do it all over again. You should absolutely visit New Braunfels, there is so much to do and Sophie’s Gausthaus elevates your experience...
