HELL ON EARTH! You are lined up in beds in all the hallways like sardines. Nurses are all over but have learned never to look anyone in the eye, so after a few hours you begin to feel invisible. You are not offended a blanket or even a cup of water! I was left there for an EKG due to severe tachycardia, high blood pressure and elevated heart rate while suffering from benzodiazepine withdrawal that could potentially be deadly. My doctor decided to cut me off after 15 years on this medication without a taper, which threw me into severe withdrawal syndrome even though I never abused my medication. She informed me to go to the Yale ER, they didn’t really know what to do with me so they left me with no human contact from 7pm-7AM No water, no blanket, no human contact whatsoever. The smells of unite and vomit are overwhelming, the bathrooms are spilling over with human waste of every kind. No one will help you or speak to you unless you literally SCREAM! My temperature was normal when I came in and after spending the night there it went up to 103!! I couldn’t get to the bathroom by myself and nobody would help me. I was deathly sick and not ONE person noticed! You could be lying there dead for 2 days and not be noticed! People are screaming, crying for help, BEGGING for help and nobody ever comes so it goes on all night, sick human beings LITERALLY BEGGING FOR HELP THAT NEVER COMES! I was so sick and appalled of the lack of humanity and empathy that I didn’t know what to do. I continued to get sicker and sicker until I had a seizure that was not even NOTICED until another PATIENT noticed and called for someone!! I was not hooked up to a heart monitor as I should have been so my fever and seizure were not noticed. My whole body was violently shaking and STILL NOT ONE PERSON NOTICED! The withdrawal became so bad that I did begin to have seizures, which were supposed to be prevented by going to the ER!! Bottom line, I was sent there to die instead of being saved and cared for. The complete lack of compassion, care and empathy is astounding, let alone that none of them do their JOB! They sit around and laugh and talk while they decide what they are going to order to eat! They gossip, make fun of the elderly patients with dementia that are calling out for help hour after hour! The nurses mimic them, make fun of them and get very snotty and downright nasty to these poor, scared elderly patients who are HUMAN BEINGS! It broke my heart the way they treated by nurses in their early 20’s. I became so upset seeing the elder abuse that was going on I decided to turn on the recorder on my phone, and what I now have is beyond heartbreaking!! As sick as I was, I was still more concerned for the elderly patients who were blatantly being severely mistreated and did not deserve to be dehumanized by being made fun of and laughed at while they were scared, sick and suffering. I have not yet decided what I’m going to do with what I have learned and with the evidence I have regarding the mistreatment, but Yale is “supposed” to be one of the best hospitals in The United States, and from my experience I certainly pray that if you make it out of the ER and get admitted, things change. But, I MUST PRESS, that the care you receive in The Emergency Department is comparable to the care you would receive in a third world country prison hospital. I hope this review helps someone consider making some serious changes. As no human being should be treated this poorly, especially...

Read moreI came in with my partner who has a history of calcium oxalate stones spanning from since they were twelve. Two days ago we went to the ER after they started having pain in their kidneys that began to ramp up. Exactly a year prior they had the same pain happen and went to the ER to find out they had a stone lodged in their ureter, and they had a nephrostomy bag for a month and a half. At nineteen years old. That experience and how Yale handled it was disgusting and borderline inhumane, so we wanted to avoid that happening again, and because all their doctors are at Yale, and with their complex history they didn't want to go anywhere else. This experience was just as bad if not worse. From waiting room to discharge we were met with uncaring professionals. We were there from 8:30pm to 4:30 in the morning the following day because they had a CAT scan done and the ER doctor took three hours after he got the results to come over and tell us "The results of the CAT scan were unremarkable, we have no idea why you are in intense pain, I can send you home with narcotics." My partner had to beg through tears for any explanation for their pain and to get a faster referral for urology and nephrology, both of which we didn't get. The only upside of this visit were the nurses. The nurses were great and did everything in their power to help my partner get some pain relief and tried to move things along. Danielle was the nurse that worked with us, she and her colleagues were the only kind faces we saw that night. I want to get the number and email for patient relations because this has gone on long enough and what I have shared isn't even the half of what has gone on. If I am unable to find that number or Yale refuses to provide it I will go to any news station that will hear me out. Because based on the reviews on here, we are not the only ones who have received this subpar treatment, and the hospital needs to be held...
