I was born and raised in this city so I visit quite often. There is a major difference between a hotel being aged versus run down, and disgusting. This recent visit was 100% disgusting. The hotel is not even worthy of one star. However to write this review you must at least give it a star. First. They refused to honor the price of THEIR OWN WEBSITE when we got there. We were told various reasons and deflection. When told it was THEIR WEBSITE, other excuses were told us. In the end they still refused to honor the price. The pool advertised was empty and had been all year. There is no intention to fill it. The buffet breakfast is merely a few rolls. The 1st floor ice machine wasn't working. Neither was the elevator to the 2nd floor. There is no maid service offered regardless of your length of stay. There have been 3 robberies within a 1/2 mile of the hotel this year. Yet the hotel leaves all security doors wide open 24/7 for anyone to come and go as they please. There is a $150 smoking fine if smoke is in your room, yet people smoke right outside the security doors and it goes throughout the entire hotel, both floors. On one day they had a flea market in the parking lot all day. It took up most of the lot with attendees taking up the remainder. All handicapped spots were taken by non handicap vehicles. If you left for breakfast as we did, there was no place to park upon return. Upon our return from breakfast we found our room door WIDE OPEN. The maid had been in it, cleaned it and left the door open. The front desk told us the maid saw us leaving with items so thought we checked out. Fact. Can't make this up. Problem? There was no maid in the hallway when we left for breakfast. That was it. Time to leave. Enough for us. We are leaving. At check out after all this we were charged a $54.76 early departure surcharge. Imagine that. Maid leaves door wide open. Risks personal property and a smoking fine. And we get a penalty for leaving. Per night our room was $144.78 .Totally pathetic. No security. No parking. Maid " eviction". No pool. No buffet breakfast. Worst of all no matter what the issue the General Manager found a reason to not accommodate in every way. Couldn't or wouldn't help with the wrong pricing or extortion early discharge fees. So if you like a hotel that offers nothing that it advertises, refuses to keep their word about pricing, jeopardizes your property and person, doesn't accommodate a handicap person ( which I am not by the way), and an inflated room rate, and extorts you to the end with bogus surcharges, has a General Manager that is useless to you needs, this is the perfect hotel for you. I have never written a negative review of a hotel before. I have been in 16 countries and 41 states staying in countless hotels. When someone like me writes a review it's worth listening. The real shame is the hotel nor the General Manager did in anyway. One last thing to mention. You can't even leave a review on their New Kensington website unless THEY " randomly" choose you to do so. What chance do you think I have of them choosing me to post on their site, after what they...
Read moreRoom was dark, fridge wasn’t cold, water leak in ceiling right in front of my room door which left a big wet spot, the tall lamp wasn’t able to be plugged in bc the outlets were full. Maintenance never came even though I voiced my concerns within 15 minutes of checking in. Internet wouldn’t work. So my son was marked absent from school for the 2 days I stayed there since he couldn’t sign in. The drain plug wouldn’t work in the bathtub so I wasn’t able to take a bath and relax. There was no game room like the web site said. I went to the front desk numerous times the first day and the clerk could care less and made no attempt to address anything. Same as the next day. The gentleman manager did put my water in the office freezer for me to get cold so he was nice. The ice machine on the bottom floor doesn’t work so if you want ice you have to climb the stairs which I couldn’t do bc I am disabled. The hallway in front of my door had a strong smell of weed even though it is supposed to be a smoke free hotel. When I complained to the desk the same unhelpful lady said nothing she can do about it and kinda dismissed me like my complaint didn’t matter and didn’t even do a walk through. The second day of our stay I had to track a housekeeping member down to get new towels and shampoo bc they weren’t stocked while we were out. When I went out to my car to get something I felt uncomfortable bc there were other guests from a work crew and they had the side door propped open and were standing there smoking and drinking- why give key cards for security if people can leave the doors propped open and anyone can walk in or out. I didn’t feel safe having to walk through a crowd of men who were drinking and smoking. I didn’t get a lot of sleep during my 2 night stay- between kids screaming and crying, the people above me pounding on the floor and the people being rowdy outside the bar area and the loud music from the bar. My son is disabled and we have to make the long trip to children’s hospital several times a month so I thought staying at the hotel would take some stress and miles off of my plate. But it was a horrible experience and we were both very unhappy with our stay. Especially since there was nothing to do for my son and he wasn’t even able to play on his phone or play his games with the internet not working. I know hotels have a lot of upkeep and are not easy to run but people don’t have hundreds of dollars extra to stay at fancy hotels. But I expected so much more or at least to be able to have some comforts of home. Totally...
Read moreI have been staying at This hotel quite often for the past year. This is an older hotel that up until recently, had had some upgrades (beds, pillows, towels, flat screen tv's, heat/AC units in some rooms, shower curtains & window treatments-curtains, I think. But starting this past summer this hotel started a major renovation with painting the out side, replacing the outside doors that make the hotel much more secure as now a keycard is required to enter the room halls from any point around the hotel. The side walks and lines for parking spots were also painted. Dispite the VERY outdated bathrooms and carpets with stains and areas of patches pieced in, I love staying there! First the beds and pillows are amazing! For me and my preferences, they're the most comfortable of any hotel I stay in & I stay in many! The staff-for the most part are great! They remember me and do whatever they can to accomadate whatever I need. There is one housekeeper that is less than friendly & I think she's the head housekeeper. And a male that works at the front desk that was almost rude on the phone when I called once to inquire about a room. Him being very busy when I called made it ok I guess to not be friendly and patient with my questions! But other than that, the rest of the staff is really great! Many remember me and what my needs are when I stop by needing a room! One evening they were sold out and a woman who I think was one of the managers had just had a cancellation she switched some things around so I could have a non smoking with a frig & microwave as not all the rooms have them. That to me is outstanding when a customers individual needs are considered and acknowledged & the extra mile is taken! These things make it so the outdated bathrooms and other negative things don't matter. This winter they have moved into full swing with their renovations...bathrooms are being totally redone, carpets replaced, rooms painted! Banquet rooms, lobby,& lobby restrooms are being totally redone! It's a mess but it will be Awsome when...
