If you are looking for a quaint place to stay in a great location on the Island my pick is Avonlea. Due to Covid travel restrictions a group of us decided to stay local early October. Granted it was the end of tourist season but somehow I think the only difference that made was it cost less. I believe guests would get the same homelike feeling all year round. A fresh breakfast is made for you daily as well as a 'cookie' and wine hour in the late afternoon if you choose to partake. I say partake!  We did discover the cooking varied depending on who was innkeeping for the day. We were lucky to have Emily and Bill who were quite the team! Food was delicious and they were super nice/friendly and accommodating overall. All 8 of us agreed we would stay there again in the future.

A beautiful bed and breakfast on the Block Island Coast walking distance from the main Center town but far enough that it remain quiet and Charming at night with you had your own little Beach right in front of the bed and breakfast wine tasting at night beautiful breakfast fresh cooked in the morning what Sabrina's service and kindness were excellent and I could say nothing bad about the whole experience that was Avonlea

My fiancé and I got engaged at AvonLea in the Sapphire Room over the weekend. Christopher and his staff went above & beyond to ensure that our stay was special and my fiancés proposal went perfectly. Huge thank you!! We had a beautiful weekend that we will never forget. We will be back!

Beautiful scenery, comfortable setting, EXCELLENT innkeeper!

My wife and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary with two nights on Block Island. Though it was VERY off-season, we found our stay at Avonlea to be superb.

Our innkeeper Liam was so wonderful and accommodating to our needs. He prepared excellent breakfasts, helped us find the perfect tour guide for an exploration of the island, and was so helpful and welcoming the he began to feel like a family member.

We stayed in the Moonstone room, the only room on the top floor. The eastern view through the large windows was magnificent! Beautiful sunrises, and the most amazing moonrise I’ve ever seen, the big orange moon casting a shimmering trail across the water. The bed was FIRM, which I appreciated, while my wife… not so much. The bathroom is shower-only, but very clean and efficient.

The amenities were first rate on the main floor as well. Large wrap-around porch with rockers, a comfy sitting area with fireplace, and of course the “barnacle” cookies!

I would rate the Inn a 9/10 on its own, but as we were lucky enough to have Liam as our host, I’d put it at 11/10.

I’m already telling all my family that we need to begin planning a return trip and renting out the...

As we were on our way to the Jewel of the Sea I received a text a few hours before our ferry from the innkeeper Sabrina letting us know what to expect and an awesome list of places to visit that will be open when we touch down. Once she learned we'd be early I got a follow-up text as we got off the ferry that our room was available for early checkout. Admittedly we packed on the heavier side but sliding everything down the sidewalk made the walk reasonable (you can take a taxi but we thought why not walk). The view is incredible, the service was top notch, the little bites and breakfast are so fantastic! I had mentioned it was our anniversary and with the help of the staff when we opened the door there were fresh chocolate covered strawberries (which were incredibly fresh), champagne, and a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Every morning and evening was magical, you can walk right onto the beach, we rented bikes so there's a convenient bike rack for that, they had various beach chairs available for guests and it was just very homey and warm. Sabrina was always delightful and made our stay extra special. We can't wait to come visit again soon! Highly...

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Jewel room at Avonlea for his birthday! Our room was lovely, with a very comfortable bed and a private patio right off the path to the beach. Gorgeous views, with lounge chairs overlooking the sea and a covered porch with beautiful views. Breakfast and wine/cookie hour included, as well as use of beach chairs and towels. They store your luggage after check out and have both an indoor and outdoor shower available for use after check out, so you can spend the day on the beach. Steps to the beach and close to several restaurants, some on the beach and some on the street. The staff, especially Gretchen, was welcoming and accommodating. So quiet and serene, no children under 16 or pets can stay, which added to the peaceful feel. Although we love kids and pets, we enjoyed the quiet, romantic atmosphere for our time away. Perfect vacation, and we can't wait to stay...
