We own a timeshare and have stayed at many timeshares over the years. The Neptune House is in a quiet area of Block Island but an easy walk or quick bike ride to get into Old Harbor. We were put in the main building. We were hoping for a room with a better view, but perhaps because we booked through Expedia, that's what we got. The pool and the grounds looked very nice from what we could tell. They have a ton of DVDs to rent, some games and books, a pool table, etc. in the main building. My husband had to ask them to open the pool, I guess since it was the off season, it's not opened automatically. The manager was very nice and helpful and let us check out late so that we could keep our bags there and not have to worry about carrying them around until we got on the ferry, which was very much appreciated! Other than check-in, though, the place was pretty deserted of staff the entire weekend. The Neptune House is in need of some renovations. The furniture is pretty dated, there was a handle missing from one of the kitchen cabinets, there was duct tape all down the screen on the sliding door, I guess to keep bugs out. We had to ask for hangers since there were only 3 in the closet. They could invest in some larger televisions with perhaps the ability to use streaming services. With only DISH service, I ended up watching one of the DVDs from the office because there was nothing else to watch! The bed was not very comfortable, but otherwise, the room was clean, we had plenty of towels and kitchen items (which we didn't need since we ate out the entire weekend). I would hate to stay there in the season; it must be unbearably HOT! There are no ceiling fans and there's no air circulation. It felt quite claustrophobic. Thankfully there was a floor fan, which we needed at night to get some sort of breeze. You can't really leave the sliders open due to security issues (at least I wouldn't). ||For a short weekend getaway, the price was fair, the room was adequate, and it was wonderful being on...
Read moreWe rented a studio in mid-September 2021 and truly enjoyed our stay - so much so that we want to return to Neptune House next September. The kitchen in the studio was new, and I loved having a gas stove to cook on (just like at home). No dishwasher, but for the two of us, that was no problem. We liked that they had several gas grills located around the complex, which made grilling super easy, especially since we were in a ground-floor unit. The sofa was only a loveseat, but at least we had one. Lots of studios just give you a bed, a kitchen table, and maybe an armchair. The loveseat wasn't comfy and the armrests needed shampooing, but we spent most of our time at the condo in the little enclosed front porch anyway. The scene from the back is peaceful - mostly undeveloped land. A downside - the island's airport is nearby so props are flying overhead starting around 8 AM or so. It wasn't bad during the week, but Friday-Sunday it's a steady stream. The manager, Sam, was super nice and helpful. She treated us well. And Max, who helped us bring our luggage in and out, picked up the trash mid-week, and seemed to help out all around, was a dream. He was so friendly, upbeat, and always ready to help with a generous smile. He's a gem! Overall, the room was clean and well-equipped. These are not luxury places... basic but nice enough. Neptune House is just fine with us for a casual, laid-back vacation, and the location is fantastic. You can't beat Block Island. Close enough to the town if you want to walk, but far enough away from the crowds that it's peaceful and relaxing with a wonderful view of the sunset out back, sitting on their Adirondack chairs. 5 stars despite a few tiny things with the room because we returned home longing to return. WE love Block Island and Neptune House gave us a super...
Read moreThis was hands down the most charming place I have ever stayed. My husband and I stayed here in early October for our honeymoon, and we're already planning a trip back. Very quiet and cozy space. You'll find more of a homey and cozy vibe than a luxury beach resort here, but that's exactly what we were in the market for.
Checkin was smooth and quick, and Grace had lovely restaurant recommendations AND a menu to poke at. From the get-go we were met with kindness and a welcoming air!
Our unit felt more like walking into our home than a rental. Very charming apartment setup that's cozy but doesn't feel small. All the Neptune House had to offer felt right at our fingertips (barbeques just outside the back door, pool just around the corner, community spaces just below us).
This place is directly under the final approach path of the airport, so we were absolutely dazzled by the magic of all the little planes landing throughout the day. The airport is really only active from about 8am to 5pm (October), so there was never a noise issue with sleeping or quiet hours. We would constantly run into the yard to see the little Cessnas landing. Definitely one of the cooler things I've seen!
We only got to meet Sam as we were checking out, but everything you read in the other reviews is true--she was so kind and welcoming, even as we were checking out. Word travelled fast, as we had not even met her yet and she greeted us with "So I heard you two just got married? Congratulations!" And then proceeded to give us her contact info and invite us back soon.
And we will absolutely be taking her up on that offer! The Neptune House very quickly turned into a second home--one we will be seeing again very soon. Thank you to Sam, Grace, and our Airbnb hosts for the absolutely perfect stay! We'll...
