The hotel was recommended to me, and I was excited about visiting New York.
I rented a car and parked in the hotel's covered garage. Be sure to use the guest pad in the lower right side to ensure you are charge $10 per day.
When you’re inside the covered garage, you must enter through the second-floor door, where you are met with damaged concrete (chipped debris) and what appears to be a major water damage event on the left side of the hotel.
I understand the winters can be brutal, but no one swept the concrete floor, so be very careful not to trip on any of the loose concrete on the second-floor walkway.
On the second floor carpeted area inside, where there were three air movers on that floor, drying out a wet carpet. Good news, there was no moldy smell.
When I finally made it to the receptionist, I was met by the most friendly woman whose smile radiated as they were helping me.
They liked their job!! They have GREAT customer-facing skills!!! I also love their New York accents.
I was assigned to a room on the second floor to an adjoining room.
Around 11 pm the room 219 was blasting the TV, and wake me up! There are then walls! I called to complain to the front desk to address the noise.
Unfortunately, he did not get the memo and in the morning, the noise of his cell phone while on speaker was over the top! He was soooo loud I recorded and text to Kristina.
I got up, and as I passed the adjoining door next to the Shower, his cologne had passed under the 2-inch gap in my room.
The second half of my room smelled like cheap cologne. YUCKY
It was apparent that I needed to change rooms, and the front desk accommodated me and moved me to the 10th floor, where I had no issues whatsoever!
Yes, I could hear the ladies above me having a nice time but when bedtime hit they were quiet.
I would like to compliment the front desk for their professionalism and their ability to help me solve a nuisance that kept me up
The room on the 10th floor in room 1009 was very clean and had a nice view
Thank you to the staff for making my stay in New York a pleasant one.
Below are some recommendations
Be sure to wash the pillows; they reek of body odor. I mean, the first room is odious.
The carpets need to be cleaned more frequently.
There’s mold around the perimeter of the Shower tubs in both rooms I was assigned
Broken Tile on the Baseboard in the first room.
I realize that you turn these rooms over; you might want to have someone inspect more often to ensure that we have a great experience, especially at the price point...
Read moreI wish I could give this hotel more than 2 stars but there was so much I couldn't stand about it.
I only book through Hampton when traveling which is weekly for work. I traveled so much in a year I got diamond status quickly. I love Hamptons. Bit sadly this one did not meet expectations
The main reason why I'm giving it a low rating is the shower. I turned it on and had to let it run a good 10 minutes to let it even get warm. Ice cold water the entire time. First night I called desk to see if there was a known issue with hot water, which I could forgive if they knew of an issue. They had me leave water running till someone come up, and by time someone came up after about 15 minutes running shower it FINALLY got lukewarm. I'm not kidding about the time I'm writing this on day two waiting for it to warm up. Anyways the maintenance guy comes up and says to "make sure the handle is all the way to hot". This upset me because.. no duh. I wasn't born yesterday I know how a shower works. Anyways I chocked it up to maybe a lot of other people on the floor had just used up all the hot water and tomorrow will be better.
Here it is day two. I'm waiting again for this water to get warm. It's still ice cold and I could have been in and out by the time it's taken to let it run and get warm. Not acceptable. I'm not being difficult, but hotels should have hot water quickly, not 10-15 minutes later.
Second issue I'm having is these stupid low gallon flush toilets they have. It takes multiple flushes to get anything down. 1.5 gallons is not enough water for.... solids. Also mine had an issue where it would keep running and I had to jiggle handle to get it to stop running.
Last tick for me was the elevator. I understand they have 11 floors to travel quickly but descending in this thing feels like the floor has been dropped out from under you it travels so fast and turns your stomach.
I love Hampton Inns, and this one won't stop me from booking more.. in fact I booked one in DC for next weeks work trip. I practically live out of Hampton Inns, but I wont return to THIS particular hotel again.
Oh look it's been 12 minutes and the water for shower is FINALLY lukewarm enough to step into, and maybe it'll get hot by the time I finish up like it...
Read moreTerrible Service Experience. First and foremost id like to state that I Travel for business every week. I stay with Hilton close to 80 nights per year if not more. I've been a diamond member for SEVERALLL YEARS. I have never received such nasty service as I did coming to this hotel. I had already checked into the hotel earlier that morning and my two 15 yr old nieces had just arrived in the busy city of New York and were extremely tired. I dropped them off so I could run and get them some food and handed them my ID so that they could get a key made I was literally right outside of the door. They told me upon walking in Oriana the front desk agent was extremely rude and wouldn't make them a key without me present. okay thats fine, policy is policy and they called me to return back to hotel. I returned back pretty frustrated we had bee traveling in all morning and I walked up to the front desk stating back to the agent what my nieces had told me. What was I met with? NASTY, RUDE, ROLLING EYES, AND UNNECESSARY ATTITUDE. it was 4pm im assuming Oriana's shift began at 3pm so she had just arrived an hour ago. There was absolutely no reason for her to be this rude so early into her shift let alone AT ALL. She explained the policy to me in a rude manner then snarled that my nieces could have magically found my id on the ground...ridiculous..when she simply could've kindly stated ma'am I apologize for your confusion but etc etc. SIMPLE. it's free to be kind and hospitable. This is the hospitality industry if im not mistaken. She proceeded to continue to be rude: Throwing me my keys, Tossing me my water, being sarcastic during our entire encounter. Then shouted after me while I was walking out that had packages arrive. Really? I was fully aware I had packages and when we came down later we were met with ANOTHER. nasty front desk agent claiming that they all of a sudden didn't have them. This entire experience was God awful. I've never experience such nasty attitudes at a front desk...
