So, as we all know airport food choices are usually not of the best quality. So when I had a layover at LaGuardia airport, the first thing I did was look at reviews for the restaurants in the airport. I didn’t see anything above a 3.3 rating. I started heading toward the highest rated restaurant and realized it was too far away from my gate so I ended up here. I actually ended up being fairly impressed by this airport food. First of all, everything is high tech. Once you are seated, there is a code to scan, and you can place your entire order on your phone without even interacting with a waiter. Of course, when you place your order, you also are asked to pay for it, including the tip even before you saw a waiter. I do believe you have an option of interacting with a waiter, but they primarily guide you on how to use the high-tech ordering system. So, onto the food. I ordered the calamari appetizer and the big Italian sandwich with hot relish. I got a generous portion of calamari, which was cooked pretty close to perfect, only some of the bigger pieces were chewy, however, it really could’ve used a little more seasoning in the batter (or SOME seasoning in the batter.) and the accompanying marinara had absolutely no seasoning in it. The sandwich, however, was phenomenally tasty. I’m not sure what they put on it. other than the meats and cheeses. But boy was it good. It was on a really nice roll and the hot relish was tasty with the perfect level of heat. I’m giving this restaurant four stars for an airport restaurant. I would...
Read moreFood isn’t bad. Aesthetics and view are great. We chose this place because it looked nice. There was no host, host stand, or any signage indicating to wait or seat yourself. We found seats and notice we codes on the table. We scanned the code and found a menu and instructions to order and a server would bring your food. We were sitting right next to a window where we saw several people ordering, so instead of using the code, we ordered and sat down near the window with our food. After about 10 minutes someone (the host or manager, I’m not sure) comes out and tells us we cannot sit there and eat. This was confusing because I still wanted a couple glasses of wine. They directed us to a food court type lobby where there weren’t enough seats for us and the tables were extremely dirty. Covered in food, crumbs, and liquid. We went back the where we were and simply asked for a menu and were seated. I planned to just save the food we ordered from the window for later. Once seated we were instructed to SCAN THE QR CODE TO ORDER. So the reason we were kicked out is because we went up and ordered from the window instead of scanning the QR code. I was livid. We still didn’t have a server take our orders. Seriously?!! Has there been a sign or at least a host stand available, we would’ve just ordered from a table anyway but we didn’t know. How dare you make us leave even though we ordered from your...
