My coworker and I recently tried the LaGuardia cafe during our stay in the Marriott. It was a very short walk, so we figured, why not?
We were pleasantly surprised at the sheer amount of meal options including both combos, individual dishes and the prepared hot food. The employees were incredibly kind and patient as we peered through the menus and finally made our selection, while also walking us through some of their popular dishes. Our food came out fast, fresh, high in quality and quantity. The pepper steak and chicharrones were delicious and their accompaniment of side dishes was exactly the type of nutrition we were looking for! Additionally, the prices were very reasonable considering how much food we received!
The atmosphere, alike many Queens restaurants, is that of family, local favorites and neighborhood institutions. While we ate, there had to have been over thirty individuals of all different backgrounds walk in, get greeted in a kind and friendly manner and immediately order their “go-to” dish that they’ve likely ordered hundreds of times before. This establishment is a reminder of the type of food that keeps a community together and well fed, and is a great representation of the diversity in cuisine available in the area. For those thinking of stopping by, I highly...
Read moreThis place is excellent! From the owner and staff to their food! From breakfast to dinner! I always order food for my son. I usually use Grubhub to order. They are always very consistent at Laguardia Cafe. When something I've ordered is not available or when it's ready to be picked up they always call me. Some of their dishes like the lunch specials are not listed on Grubhub menu so I call the restaurant and order directly through them. I only use Grubhub because it's easier to order when in a rush. I have tried their lunch specials like Carne guisada with rice and beans and omg exquisite...my mouth is watering as I'm writing this. Their Phillycheese steak is legit! I live near Philly and have had a real Phillycheese from Pat's well it might not be a Pat's, but man you will not be dissapointed. The seasoning they put on it is delicioso! Definitely recommend this place. Every time I go visit my son this is...
Read moreThis is my second time visiting this hidden gem. I originally found this restaurant by accident while staying at a nearby hotel. The first time I ordered beef empanadas and chicharrones. Both were extremely flavorful! Unfortunately they only sell the chicharrones by the pound. I only wanted one chunk because I came solo but I had to order a pound. It was way too much meat for one person. However the flavor was perfection. It tasted just like my grandpa’s. Today I traveled all the way from Arizona just to come back for some more beef empanadas. It hit the spot and I left happy. The workers are always nice and upbeat. The menu can be a tad confusing if you’re not a local and the food is a little pricey. The establishment is a tiny hole in the wall but that’s how you know the food is good. It’s always busy with locals. I...
