I have been here a few times, and after my most recent experience they will never be seeing me again.
When I arrived, the workers moved me and my friend around the seating area and then had a conversation in our face, that was very obviously about us and the fact that we were moved. I have worked in the service industry for many years, if there is an issue with something, you don't blatantly MAKE it an issue in the customer's face. You step aside and have a conversation privately and then address it.
We sit down, and as I am ordering, the server keeps giving me faces like I am the stupidest person on the planet. He left and brought back our order and put it on the grill with the fire turned all the way up. I had to stop another server as they were walking by to ask them three times to turn down the fire.
The meat that was placed on the grill was completely frozen, and it made my stomach turn.
Another server came up to tend to the meat at a certain point and I asked if we could order more and she just stared at me. I am understanding of there being a language barrier. However, I don't think the language barrier is what was causing the issues. The servers were rude and every time I attempted to ask for something, they seemed bother.
The server flipped the meat and left, then brought back a basket of soggy lettuce that I am sure was past its expiration date because it had that bitter taste of expired lettuce. All I ate throughout the meal was the meat because I did not want to make wraps with the lettuce.
At a certain point I started cooking the meat, I usually do whenever I go to KBBQ spots. This is when the manager and the server came up to our table, stared at the grill, then started having a conversation, again that was obviously about us, in our face. If me cooking the meat was a problem, say it!! Then all of the workers reconvened right behind us and kept glancing at our table and talking. I was beyond irritated and could not understand why the entire restaurant was having a staff meeting right by my table instead of just saying that I can't cook the meat or something?
The entire staff was behind us for nearly the entire meal talking. I was dying to finish eating so that I could leave.
The server came back and we ordered more pork belly and beef, when she returned she came back with the beef and an excessive amount of broccoli. I informed her that, that was not what I ordered, and repeated myself about 3 more times before she took the plate away.
The server then brought back an excessive amount of pork belly and I had to inform her that we did not intend to eat that much more. It was our third order of pork belly because they bring out three at a time and she brought over 10 this third time. Again, she looked at me like I had done something wrong or like I was inconveniencing here, and the servers and managers again looked at each other and started talking and glancing at our table.
Despite all of this, I made no complaints, paid for my meal, and still tipped, but this experience was so awful I never want to step foot in this establishment again. Everybody here needs to be trained better, I would've gotten fired at any of my previous jobs if this is how I was behaving at work. And apart from the staff, the food selection is extremely limited. The meat that you get is very obviously not fresh. The whole time I was eating I was praying to not get food poisoning the next day. I think they have only managed to remain open because it's one of the two KBBQ spots in this side of Brooklyn. Other than that, it would not stand a chance because the food and...
Read moreI seriously don't like giving bad reviews to a restaurant that serves decent food but this is what I have to say after going twice to this place: I went there twice in the space of 3 days. First time I went the experience was decent. The gentleman in the front greeted us and we sat down the server was nice and friendly. He was attentive even though I believe he was serving multiple tables. Food was very decent and we started off with meat, we ended with veggies. My first visit, they would easily receive a 4 or 4.5 rating. Now since I had an exceptional food and service, I took four of my friends, visited again yesterday.... and this time it all went down the drain...let me explain: This was Sunday night so therefore it was kind of busy. We had about half an hour wait time which was great considering it was a busy night. They have a great system where you get a text when they're ready to serve you. As usual we were greeted by the man in the front very nice man. We were then taken to a table the man in the front came and gave us plastic bag to put all of our jackets. Then we started being served. After we ordered on drinks our food started to come in. Now let me explain how the food came in: For five individuals, not to mention five Guys we had one bowl of salad pretty small bowl the same Bowl we received when I went by myself. No green leaf lettuce was served to us The server came with one portion of everything that we ordered for Five Guys. In the portion we're not big for example two pieces of beef steak for five of us, one pancake, five pieces of asparagus, five pieces of corn, etc. And it does take time to cook them. So basically we get a tiny piece of steak and than we wait to get another perhaps one tiny piece. We were sat on a one grill and for some reason the server kept it on low heat at all time. Now the portion wasn't what got us mad was his attentiveness. He was focused on one table the entire time and he would come back to us when our meat would get super tough and burnt. We saw how attentive he was in the other table except our table. There are videos I took where there is no food on our plate or even in the grill and the other table is filled with food and he kept bringing them and we ordered at least 5 minutes before them. It was a complete disappointment and I would rather take a trip to...
Read moreTruly one of the best places to eat at if you want a good time. Having experienced this place on my birthday and given a discount of a free meal, this has become my signature place to eat at on special occasions. However, reservations are a must if you don't want to wait, having been through an hour before a table was available. One fault I would say would be the manager or the person behind the counter's way of thinking. Kenny, I presume that is what people call him, would prioritize his friends before his customers it had seemed. Not only does this impact the restaurant's reputation, but first time customers would view this place differently. I'd like to recommend a change in that way of thinking in order for the restaurant to move on to something greater.
Given the option of Korean BBQ, I tried it and the experience was unlike that of eating hotpot. A waiter would be at your aid almost always, helping and making sure food is cooking. My waiter by the name of Jason Wang, was outstanding and I could only see him as an aspiring waiter. I have high hopes for his future having a wonderful personality and atmosphere. Now, I've never had a sibling before but having him aid me felt as if he was the brother I never had. He would help me and seeing him was like a learning experience. As a person who takes interest in food and possibly being a chef/cook, I appreciate his formality and workstyle. In the end, I give this place 5 stars, given the staff being super friendly and on birthday occasions, would go to your table to sing you Happy Birthday. A great find in the food world, having a friendly atmosphere and staff while featuring all you can eat Chinese hot pot...
