Everything started out wonderful- The hotel was spotlessly clean, gorgeous rooms, nice and cozy and clean place to sleep. Beautiful pool, good breakfast. The only complaint that I have was after we checked out. We brought two emotional support animals with us. It was a misunderstanding at the front desk that they were SERVICE animals, which they were not. I totally understand people may not know the difference, but we would never lie about the function our companion animals perform for us. (That's a big problem in the US, especially, is false service animals) The people at the front desk were fawning over our animals, and one apparently heard that they were support animals, and not service animals. No big deal, we'll pay the fees, we were prepared to! However, when we initially checked in, we weren't charged the pet fee. My fiance looked at his card balance in the car, and realized we had been charged almost 300 dollars over what we had agreed upon. We understood that we would be charged the pet fee, that was a misunderstanding among staff and although it wasn't explained to us, we understood the reasoning. I called to ask just to make sure that's what it was, and ask why it was so high, and the person that answered my call was extremely accusatory and rude, saying we lied and said our animals were service animals and that we left our room a "disgusting pigsty". Both of which are untrue- my fiance and I travel with our animals a good bit, and we always try to be clear as to the function of our animals, as I said before. We also take a good amount of care to make sure we DON'T leave the room a mess, so it was very hurtful to hear such criticism. Now, we don't santitize and bleach the whole place, but we do make sure to pick up after our critters as much as we can without a full cleaning closet. She also called into question the relation of my fiance to me, which was extremely uncalled for. Something along the lines of "What I can only assume is your HUSBAND, or whatever you want to call him." (I am queer and nonbinary, and often refer to him as my 'partner') Overall, an extremely unpleasant experience on the phone. The manager or whomever was higher up was extremely understanding of my frustration, and I sincerely apologize if I was rude to them, as I was flabbergasted and angered by the previous person, and she kindly explained the misunderstanding and fees and apologized for the other person's rudeness. Overall, the hotel itself is gorgeous. But I sincerely think we will never be staying there again- animals or not- due to this experience. What was supposed to be a fun anniversary trip (my fiance and I celebrating 3 years together at a convention) was completely tainted by one person's behavior, as it really shocked us and put a damper on the...
Read moreThis was my third stay at this hotel. I have always given this hotel high marks. The location is good. The staff is good. The breakfast is good. However this stay made me leave the hotel early in the evening which is something that has never happened to me in my entire life. There is a public space under the rooms facing the PA turnpike. This public space has a patio and fire pit where residents gather to party and talk right outside your window. The first night I called the front desk at 12:05 am and the noise continued until I called a second night. My last night there I had a flight at 6 am from Pittsburgh. I had to get up by 3 am to get to the airport shortly after 4 am. The hotel keeps this public gathering place open to guests to midnight. Its not the guest's fault since its open by the hotel and being next to the turnpike the people have to talk loud. No consideration to the rooms right above the patio/firepit of people that want to or need to sleep. I have stayed at hotels all across the country and public spaces like pools, tennis courts, or patios that are next to rooms are closed by 9 or 9:30 to allow the occupants of those rooms to sleep in peace. What purpose is a hotel if the paying occupants cannot sleep due to parties outside the room blessed by the hotel management. I do appreciate the hotel for not charging me for early departure. If you must stay at this hotel, DO NOT TAKE A ROOM THAT FACES THE TURNPIKE over the patio area. The noise in my room was like a party was going on and it goes on past midnight unless you call and complain. The room was clean but the floor around the vanity and toilet area was a bit slimy in an area and I developed a bad fungus foot infection that I am still fighting several months later. I know this can happen at any hotel but perhaps an anti-fungal cleaner can be used for cleaning the bathroom floors. Third time is not charm for me at this hotel. I would rather sleep on cardboard in the woods. At least there you can...
Read moreStayed at this hotel for a week while in town for a family event. I usually stay in Monroeville when visiting, but decided to give this hotel a try!
•Strengths: The room was clean and in good condition upon arrival. Elevators and stairwells were also clean and well maintained. Generally quiet during week day evenings/overnight when there were fewer guests. Wifi connection was strong enough to allow for remote work. Most days of my visit, breakfast food and coffee were available and fresh. When the room's AC unit leaked water all through the carpet, one of the staff members who was cleaning rooms was able to help submit a maintenance request for me, maintenance came out within an hour or two, fixed the issue, and cleaned up before they left. The location is great, especially if accessing the Turnpike.
•Weaknesses: No spare rolls of toilet paper and a nearly empty Kleenex box at arrival, so had to ask for more during the stay. The fan on the window unit only runs while heating/cooling and there is no bathroom fan, so the room can get damp easily (plus with the AC issue, the room needed some Damprid or a dehumidifier, but those weren't provided). There is construction across the parking lot that you can hear from inside, and they started early in the morning some days -- could also hear people in the other rooms, so not as soundproofed as one might hope. On my last day, they ran out of coffee for the 8-9AM breakfast rush, but luckily there are Sheetz and Starbucks nearby.
Overall, a newer hotel (compared to most in the area), with decent amenities, helpful staff, and clean/well maintained shared use...
