Honestly, if I could rate this specific Giant Eagle (North Huntington Plaza by Target), it would be negative 5 stars. A few years back I realized they were taxing me (before someone telling me groceries ESPECIALLY EBT recipients do not get taxed on food.) For almost a year I had to do curbside pickup due to having 2 small children, they would always ask for my debit info for "taxes and fees." (Pics as proof included) I have every receipt to prove it. I figured today 8/2/2025 I'd give them a second chance instead of my usual walmart because I know they always have both of the formulas I need , went in for formula on WIC, got a watermelon, strawberries, and almost all of my WIC covered formula I could get from the shelf (I have triplets so Im sorry, but they gotta eat and Im a single mom so its hard to get out to the store as it is with the babies AND load groceries) so anyways, I double checked all my items were WIC approved with my wic app... get to the register. My card covered SOME but then they tell me I had a leftover balance of $243. I tried to explain its all covered, its the second of the month and I triple checked everything before rushing to the register while my 3 month old triplets waited in the car with the AC on with a friend of mine (not always an option for me, as other people have lives also.) So anyways, the "manager" comes over, noticeably irritated. I asked her nicely to not give me an attitude. She then tried to say it wasn't the systems faught, its my WIC (NEVER had an issue at Walmart before) and of course they say to call WIC on a Saturday to figure it out. Which i cannot figure out until Monday at the earliest. So Im without my 2 daughters formula until I have a chance to go back into Walmart and get it LIKE I should be able to. Not sure if my benefits are still available or taken from what they did take until I get a chance to try again at Walmart.
I will never go back and the Giant Eagle Manager told me she's fine with that even though I was very nice. Sketchy store.
Been happening for years and I've reported it to the Attorney Generals and got a report that their response was, even with receipt proof, GE responded to the AG with "We never taxed for food." And the case was closed.
Highly do not recommend.
Go to Walmart where all the weirdos you want to avoid go. Plus they have more selection.

Read moreI was attending a family reunion in Pittsburgh last Saturday. I got a birthday cake, and the lady at the bakery was so nice. The lady who helped me self check out was super helpful, and even helped me assign points to my cousin. I came back later in the day to purchase flowers and a bottle of wine. Again, the lady at the flower counter was wonderful.
However, I have to report Janet in your wine department. I am 70 years old and I certainly do not look too young to buy wine. Janet asked for my driver’s license and said it’s expired. I said not according to Ohio (where I live) and I produced the other document from Ohio’s BMV to verify that. Janet immediately began loudly lecturing me in front of other customers saying we have rules and regulations in Pennsylvania, and we require a valid PLASTIC license.
I was so embarrassed. I called my son who was in the car, and asked him to come in as I knew his plastic license was “up to date”. When he got there, Janet began berating me again (in front of customers) demanding to know who this man was and how he knew me. My son identified himself as my son, but by then I had had enough. I told Janet she was one of the rudest people I’ve ever seen and she knew nothing about customer service. She then AGAIN went into a tirade about Pennsylvania’s rules and regulations”.
We left, and went to the wine and spirit shop in a close shopping center. They didn’t even ask for my DL!
Janet looked older than me, but no one should treat customers the way she treated us. I wanted the store to know about this experience. I bet I’m not the only person lectured and publicly...
Read moreThis is a nice store and they have many items other stores do not. However there are a few things I did not care for with this store #1. the location of the restrooms is very awkward usually with a Giant Eagle stores they are very accessible in the front of the store with more than 2 stalls, well this store the rr is located in the very back on the right handed side past the hot food section. If you are a handicapped person this would be a great inconvenience, the bathroom was clean is the best I can say. #2. Despite the store having 24/7 services there is a very creepy man who works this shift and he is LESS than helpful when it comes to service of any type or questions about the stores products and what they offer. On more than one occasion he gave me incorrect information and was extremely rude to me when I experienced difficulties while ringing up my order. I did not appreciate his tone with me and or his rude comments and lying to me about what I could purchase and what type of tender it had to be paid with. I was so upset when I left the store and was stranded at 4am because he refused to put cash on my refillable debt card, I had to contact my son in Houston Texas to have him order a Lyft ride for me. Because of his behavior I am giving this store a low score otherwise I would give it a 5 star. Send him to some interpersonal training and he may be acceptable, I would give anyone a 2nd chance. They do have ample parking, handicapped parking and...
