When I arrived for check-in, the front desk associate informed me that the room was non-smoking and, knowing that my boyfriend and I are both smokers, I asked her if it was permitted to smoke on the balcony. I wanted to make sure, beforehand, that I wasn’t violating any rules. I asked her twice, just to confirm, and she told me that smoking on the balcony would be fine. The rest of our stay was uneventful, until the day I was scheduled to check-out. Right before 9:15am, housekeeping barged into my room, while I was getting dressed, without knocking. I was horrified. There was almost another hour left until check-out time and the whole incident was extremely unprofessional. To top off the unprofessionalism, the housekeeping employee didn’t even apologize for walking in like that, but instead said, “The lady told me to come here… so when are yall leaving?” Shortly after, he was joined by another female employee. I told them I was checking out at 10am and she just stood at the door on her phone. I called the front desk to complain about this and they told me that they would speak to HR and give me a call right back. Not only did I not get a call back, but I called back twice, and my call went unanswered. So, at this point, I had to walk over to the other building to speak to someone. I finally spoke to Ashley, from HR, who offered me a free stay. Honestly, after an incident like that, I did not want to stay at your facilities and was even scared that housekeeping would barge into my room again while I was in the other building, with all of my belongings out. I declined the free stay and asked to be compensated another way. She told me she would look into it and give me a call back. I dealt with this back-and-forth for almost an hour and had to rush to get everything ready before checkout time. When I went to check out, I was then told that I was going to be charged an extra because they believed that I smoked in the room and would need to hire an outside vendor to do a deep cleaning of the room. I told her that we did not smoke in the room, only on the balcony, and that was why I asked her upon check-in, multiple times, if it was OK to smoke on the balcony. She, in a very condescending and disrespectful way, told me that she “doubts” we smoked only on the balcony and would be charging us anyway. I asked to file a report, more importantly for the housekeeping incident, but also for being accused of smoking in the room since I knew that we didn’t. She did not allow me to file a written report while still there. I just wanted everything to be documented while I was still there, but she refused and instead told me that I would get a call from corporate by the end of the day. That was Friday and it is now Monday. I got no call back from corporate, nor did HR call me back after I declined the free stay. I also haven’t received my $100 security deposit back.
I am highly disappointed at the service I received and feel very attacked. Not only was I walked in on by a male housekeeping employee while in an indecent state, but I didn’t even receive an apology and was further harassed by front desk associates, accusing me of things I did not do. I felt very attacked and even wondered if they were judging me based on my appearance (regarding my young age and race). To top all of this off, since I was being delayed during my entire checkout process by these unnecessary incidents, I ended up missing my train home. Since the next train wasn’t for another 12 hours, I had no choice but to rent another room at a hotel near the train station. I also had to pay extra to take the night train. So, not only was I wasting money for another room and a later train, but I still didn’t get my $100 deposit back either. I think the worst part, though, is that nobody even got back to me at this point which is ridiculously...
Read moreI am a deeded-week owner here, and I have been staying here since the building was built. Over the years, Shore Crest continues to impress when considering my experiences holistically, but there are some areas for improvement.
The Good: Shore Crest is a well-maintained facility with friendly staff and prompt housekeeping. The location in North Myrtle Beach is part of why you would choose this property. NMB is much calmer and safer than Myrtle Beach proper, but within driving distance of all the entertainment. The pools are cleaned every morning and are always in spectacular condition (with the exception of the indoor hot tub at SC1 being closed for “structural repairs”. All of the amenities and facilities are kept updated and in excellent, clean condition. PLUS, with the recent interior refresh that happened this year, the furniture in the units is brand new, stylish, and luxurious. Lastly, BlueGreen (Hilton) does a great job with having activities planned for the kids, especially the lazy river rubber duck race that always draws a crowd.
The Bad: “Shore Crest” is technically a two-tower resort with the second tower being “marsh view” and across the street from the actual beach. Not being beach front is a problem for some folks. But both towers each have their own pools, hot tubs, and lazy rivers which ALL Shore Crest guests have access to. The problem is that the pools at the beachfront building become crowded to the point that you can’t find space during the summer months. Also; you’d be hard pressed to find a guest at Shore Crest that doesnt complain about the elevators. Shore Crest 1 only has two elevators. They clearly learned their lesson because Shore Crest 2 has 3. But I personally find that ALL elevators at the buildings are older and in need of repair. Some of them don’t have ventilation fans running which means that during the summer the elevators become scary hot.
Overall: Shore Crest Vacation Villas 1&2 are a great spot for a family vacation. Clean, friendly, amenity-rich and...
Read moreWe booked through Air Bnb. There are two different buildings, Villa I and Villa II. Villa I is on the ocean side and Villa II is across a small 2 lane street near the marsh. It was a little annoying that we weren't told which we'd be in, but it ended up being fine. We were in Villa II. We had a really nice view of the marsh, but I would not have been happy if we were on the other side of the building, the side that just faces Villa I. Because then you wouldn't face the marsh OR the ocean.
Check in was confusing but once you get the lay of the land everything makes more sense. BOTH buildings have their own indoor pool, outdoor pool, lazy river and hot tub. The one in Villa II is kind of hard to find, which is why I think so many reviewers think they had to go across the street for the pool! You can use either side which is nice. The beach is only a 2 minute walk away.
We had a 2 bedroom condo. When you walk in there's a full bathroom and a bedroom with 2 single beds. They're small, but we fit 3 kids in there just fine. Their room had a TV, dresser and pretty large closet. The kitchen is awesome. It has everything you can possibly need during your stay. Fridge, microwave, oven, dishwasher, coffee maker, cups, bowls, plates, utensils, cookware.... everything.
Inside the closet is a washer/dryer, which is pretty loud but I wouldn't have expected it to be quiet. That thing was a GODSEND with having kids on the trip. The living room is a decent size, with a huge table for eating, a couch that pulls out to a bed, TV, and balcony. Off of the living room was the master, which was pretty big! There was a large tub next to the bed which would have been cooler if it had jets but the kids loved it. There's also a separate shower and toilet area. The room had a TV and it's own entrance to the balcony.
Our stay was really great! We will definitely be back and we'll most likely request Villa I to have an ocean view but I wouldn't be mad if we had the marsh view again. We had...
