We were looking for a new and light dinner and noticed the 45th Ave Deli write-up so decided to stop in. First hour's are from 11:00am till 6:00pm so it's not a late night sandwich place. First plenty of parking so not an issue. Entered and we're pleased that the place was bright and clean with a nice overhead menu. We had not had Lox, Bagels and Cream cheese in a while so Bill and I both ordered ($12.99) as well as the daily soup special Crab soup $5.99. Soup came out hot and we both enjoyed so 5 ⭐. Next came our Bagels etc...we loved them 5 ⭐ with the only comment being they might consider offering different favors of the Bagels like Onion, Multi, Sesame, Poppyseed etc and look at a slightly toaster Bagel. Both were so large and good that we took half of mine and 1/4 of Bills home. We noted that "Maryland Crab Cakes" were advertised and while full asked if we could just order one(1) and try it for lunch at our place the next day, Ashley the owner was more than accommodating and packaged one along with Tarter Sauce (by the way had it for lunch and yes it was 5 ⭐). Simply this nice simple location off 17 that should have more of a following as the location is good, people are fantastic and the food is well worth the price.

As a fellow Marylander I was looking forward to checking this place out. Wanted the crab cakes but they didnt have any. So I settled for fried shrimp and crab soup. Waited 40 min for them to come out and tell me they didn’t have any soup ( we were the only customers sitting in the restaurant mind you). When the shrimp platter arrived it did not contain my Cole slaw like the menu said it should, and the shrimp were way over cooked. Also, they were not even hot. Such a disappointment. Slow slow service, drinks never refilled. Place could have been cleaner as well , the floors were sticky and the air had an odor to it that wasn’t pleasing. Was afraid as I sat there waiting for my food if I would be able to stomach it with the odor. Restaurant needs work as the ceiling had signs of water leaking from it and the parking lot as well as curb appeal leave a lot to be desired. I’m guessing this used to be a great place but not anymore. Sad and disappointed and won’t be going back.

The crabs were definitely Maryland style and delicious. I highly recommend this location for that. However, the owners are constantly running out of items which will be unfortunate for the diners. I asked for a coke, it ran out. I asked for a bud light, we ran out. I asked for hush puppies, we ran out. I asked for crab cakes, we ran out. The owner came in, sat at her computer and did not interact with the customers or staff. My visit last year was so pleasant and I wanted to give 5 stars but I just couldn’t. Hoping it was just an off two weeks because the same thing happened the week prior.

When I visited this restaurant the first time I thought this place had the best tasting crab cakes I’ve ever had and the customer service was awesome. They were so good I decided to drive 1.5 hours with my sister from Charlotte to taste these amazing crab cakes. Upon going in the place was packed. We felt a little uncomfortable due to getting some looks like “what are you doing here” so with that I told my sister we would order our food to go. Went to the bar to order the young lady immediately said you “cannot be seated”not hi unfortunately due to the lack of seating and business were unable to seat you right now, it was definitely a better way to communicate that. I then said, can we not order to go? She said yes, I proceeded to tell her what I wanted which was the crab cakes the server then says that we can order a set of crab cakes they don’t have anymore, at that time my sister automatically said she didn’t want anything from there and hurriedly went to the car with my nephew. I ordered then waited for my food. The crab cakes and a shrimp basket came out maybe 30-45 mins later but during the time of waiting I just felt uneasy. After getting in my car my sister said that felt like she stepped back in time. It definitely gave that vibe but I ensured my sister it’s not the owner because I met her the last time and she was sooo nice and very helpful. It was the customer service or the lack of. We called back to speak to the owner and she seemed defensive when I tried to explained how WE FELT. I did tell her to imagine walking into an environment where there is only one race in an establishment and you come in the energy seems to change then you’re told you can’t be seated. She thought I was calling her racist but I truly don’t and didn’t think she was racist then she started making excuses for the unprofessionalism and the lack of customer service of her server. For the prices they charge or the money you spend you just get better service that’s...

First visit for my wife and I. We live about 2 miles from the deli and finally decided to stop in. We arrived just before noon. There was only one gentleman there taking orders, preparing the food and serving the customers. My wife and I ordered draft beers, unfortunately the first two brands we ordered the kegs were empty so we settled for our third choice out of the 4 that they carry. And the draft that we were finally successful at receiving was flat. The table that we sat at had not been wiped off from the previous customers that sat there. I had the Italian sub and my wife had grilled cheese and vegetable soup. The food was good but not worth the price being charged. At approximately 1pm the owner and another employee arrived to help out. The men's room was quite dirty and there was a bucket under the sink to catch any water that was leaking from the trap. My wife said the ladies room was in similar condition. Not sure what the issue was with the heat but it was quite cool inside with a small space heater running near the counter where you place your order. With all the little jobs that appeared needed to be done e were somewhat surprised the owner never got up from her seat at one of the tables to say hi or help out around the business. Our first and last time here. Way to many other great restaurants to choose from with much better prices and...

Extremely slow for below average deli. Called NY deli but have stock bulk pickles. Sandwiches were ok but not worth the wait. Potato salad was very sad. Only comparison to a NYC deli was the name. We will not be returning, and the cost for 3 Sandwiches and drinks, and then wanting a tip when you ring up for a cafeteria style eatery was a mistake I will not repeat.

You can not remember me, there was no THING, just a customer who didn't like the food and service, so you come back a year later with a comment like that, stay professional, and spend your time making your business better than spending it attempting poorly to criticize customers who gave you a review you did not like. From 2 stars to 1 because you are sad, with how busy you are not, I look forward to the next restaurant that moves in.

I see everyone who writes a bad review on this place the owner writes a sad little story about them. Look at the reviews . I never said a word to anyone just paid at the counter when we paid for our food and left. Write a review this little man will be sure to come up with a story. How empty this place always is it won't last long. Maybe I will stop and have a conversation with you, and see if you remember me. I am sure you won't because it never happened. See you soon? Now crab house to...
